Beards & moustaches Championship

Did you know that just some centuries ago in Russia for the right to have a beard, men had to pay taxes to the treas-ury!

Such a law has ap-peared thanks to the re-forms of Peter the Great (That bring in Russia the Non-bearded style for men).

The bearded man had to pay a fee as long as the Empress Catherine II re-pealed the law.

The day of the cancella-tion of the law became “the day of bearded men”.

Bearded celebrate this day by the Champi-onship of beards and moustaches. According to the contest will be se-lected several catego-ries, each of which will have 3 winners.

To participate in the contest, register is not necessary. Registration will take place on the day of the champion-ship in the cafe from 2pm - 3 pm. Organizers note that the main cri-teria is not the length or volume of a beard, but the integrity of the full look of the participant.

On April 4thRhythm and blues club19, Starovagankovsky Pereulok, bld. 2m. BorovitskayaStart: 2pm

Each year the connois-seurs are going on a dedicated championship and show the beauty of the hair on their face.

Bearded already have ensured that their brutal style came into vogue. And at the festival there are such unusual par-ticipants that even the presence on the cham-pionship, as a spectator becomes a very interest-ing experience.

In Russia the champion-ship will be held for the third time.

Every year the festival of bearded gaining popu-larity and success.

#1The health benefits of run-ning include weight loss, a youthful appearance, pre-vention of muscle and bone loss, growth hormone en-hancement, the prevention of stroke, diabetes, and hy-pertension.

It also lowers high choles-terol level, improves blood clotting, boosts the immune system, reduces stress, and enhances mood.

#2Even if you’re a super-slow jogger, you’ll burn at least 10 calories per minute of running.

That means you’ll run off half a block of Lindt Dark Choc-olate in less than 23 min!

#3The oldest person to com-plete a marathon was born in 1911, making him 100 years old at the time. He was an Indian man named Fauja Singh. AND guess what? Fauja didn’t even start running until he was 89 years of age. It’s never too late!

#4Over 1 billion pairs of run-ning shoes are sold world-wide each year.

#5In the feet, 26 bones, 33 joints, 112 ligaments, and a network of nerves, tendons, and blood vessels have to work together when we run!

#6Music can boost your run-ning performance by up to 15%! But only if you’re a particular kind of runner. If you tend to focus inward while running, music probably won’t help you much… but if you look for stimulus from your envi-ronment, pump the tunes to get over the finish line more quickly!

#7In a recent study, when asked what food they couldn’t live without, most runners named bananas as their most adored foodie fix!

TOP7 Facts about Running

The Fairy Tail

Welcome our monthly Russian Folk Fairy Tail.

The fairy Tail of April is the Frog Tsarevna, a special love

story to discover.

www.intermarkrelocation.ru Moscow Digest 21

The Frog Tsarevna

In the Russian tale the tsar orders his three sons shoot arrows and find their brides where the arrows land.

The youngest son’s arrow is picked up by a frog; so he is at a loss until a friendly frog takes pity on him and offers to marry him. The king then assigns his three prospective daugh-ters-in-law various tasks.

In every task the frog far out-does the lazy brides-to-be of the older brothers.

Then came the turn of the youngest son, Ivan Tsarev-ich.

Ivan drew back his bow and shot his arrow. But Ivan’s arrow didn’t find a maiden, it flew off into a swamp. To Ivan’s great surprise, his arrow had landed next to a frog.

His two older brothers laughed at him, and Ivan begged the Tsar not to make him marry the frog.

But the Tsar understood the fate of young Ivan, and Ivan and the frog were married.

Soon after his sons were married, the Tsar called them together once more.

Still, the young prince is ashamed of his froggy bride, until she is magically trans-formed into a tsarevna...

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, the Tsar decid-ed that it was time for his three sons to get married. He called them together, telling them each to shoot their arrows, and whatever maiden their arrows should land by would be their bride.

The eldest son drew back his bow, and shot his arrow, which hit next to a noble-man’s daughter.

The middle son then drew his bow, and shot his ar-row, which landed by a mer-chant’s daughter.

As soon as her skin was de-stroyed, Vasilisa turned into a swan and flew away to where she was obliged to be the prisoner of Koschei the Deathless.

Ivan had to embark upon a long and magical journey to find his wife.

He had to inquire from the evil witch Baba Yaga to learn of the magical feats that he must accomplish to free his wife.

Baba Yaga tells him that he must travel to the Island of Buyan, and that Koschei’s death is on the point of a needle, which is in an egg, inside a duck, which is in a hare, contained in a chest buried underneath a large oak tree.

Ivan travels to the island, finds the tree, and with the help of several animals that he has befriended, he is able to break the egg to kill Ko-schei, and to snap the nee-dle which frees Vasilisa.

The End.

He had decided to set their wives to certain tasks to see which one could perform them the best.

The first task was for them to bake a loaf of bread. Ivan went home and told his frog about baking the bread.

The frog replied for him not to worry, and sent Ivan to bed.

After Ivan was sleeping, the frog removed her skin and turned into Vasilisa the Beautiful.

She stood in the doorway, clapped her hands, and her servants came running to her aid.

When Ivan awoke the next morning the frog handed a loaf of white bread to him.

After tasting the bread of all three wives, the Tsar declared that the bread of Ivan’s wife was by far the best.

The second task was to weave a beautiful carpet.

Once again the frog sent Ivan to bed, shed her skin, summoned her servants, and wove a magnificent car-pet.

The Tsar once again chose the work of Ivan’s wife over the others.

The third task was to see which wife could dance the best at the royal ball.

The frog told Ivan to arrive at the ball alone, and she would follow an hour later.

And so Ivan arrived alone, and an hour later his wife, Vasilisa the Beautiful, ar-rived.

She shamed the other wives by using her magic powers to dance and create a lake of swans.

Ivan was so enchanted with her, that he destroyed her frog skin.

Vasilisa screamed at him to stop, but it was to late.

Opera “Titius the Flawless”

26 Moscow Digest www.intermarkrelocation.ru

Opera “Titius the Flaw-less” A. Manotskova at the Chamber Music Theater by the name of Pokrovsky An allusion to the earliest and bloodiest tragedy of Shakespeare’s “Titus An-dronicus”.

The world premiere of the play by Maxim Kurochkin will be held under the con-trol of Ayrat Kashaeva.

The performance is very in-teresting by itself - read it before hearing is not neces-sary.

As is often the case for mod-ern productions, Vladimir Mirzoev propose a opposi-tion of two worlds - the dis-tant future and a certain the-atrical pathos world of the present.

In general, the performance on itself - is an opera in an opera.

The main star is, as the audi-ence witnessed what is hap-pening on stage. And what happens in both worlds, it is impossible to name differ-ently as madness.

Of course, musically, these worlds are opposed to each other - both in regard to the instrumentation, and on the language used by the com-poser.

Manotskov writes very ra-tionally, using the tech-niques of interest to him and deliberately

introducing them to the musical text in a particu-lar place: find in the opera a place for quotations from baroque music, and even a little cubism.

In the initial sound modes that are assigned to each character is encrypted a synthesis chord, key to the whole opera, a kind of “Tit-ius sum”.
