We invite you to this exhibi-tion of dogs that want to find a hew home. At the exhibi-tion you are given an oppor-tunity to walk any dog you like(A great chance to have a walk or a run outdoors).

The exhibition will feature 50 dogs, puppies and adults, shaggy haired, large and small, noble blood and ped-igree. All dogs are healthy and vaccinated. Dogs can be taken for free by means ofa contractual transfer.

Jennifer Sherman says:

“We adopted our puppy, Os-car, from a shelter in May. He was approximately 6 weeks old and we all fell instantly in love with him! We were given a great advice and support by the staff at the shelter. (Nata-sha Bystrova & Yentl Horowitz) They do amazing work, with little limited financial support, care for many homeless dogs in Moscow. Oscar is now a happy, healthy and friendly dog and we all love him. He’s one of the lucky few. I’m so happy that we decided to adopt a shelter dog.

Archive photographs and negatives had to be de-stroyed — content of pho-tojournalists’ archives were carefully monitored. Rykov, Bukharin (Shaikhet photo-graphed him very often), Zi-noviev, Kamenev, Radeka and Tukhachevsky all disap-peared from the scene, and images of them also had to disappear. Only politically neutral figures could remain in the family archive: Lu-nacharsky, Kirov, Krupskaya, Gorky, Dzerzhinsky, Yaro-slavsky, etc. Arkady Shaikhet developed and printed his photographs at home. The whole family assisted him in this, washing, rolling out photographs on glass, gloss-ing and trimming. His son Anatoly did the retouching.

From 1930 Arkady Shaikhet produced materials for the magazines ‘USSR in Con-struction’, ‘Our Achieve-ments’, ‘Construction of Ma-chine-Tractor Stations and State Farms’, ‘Projector’, ‘Behind The Wheel’, ‘Soviet Photo’; for the newspapers ‘Pravda’ (for this publication he photographed ‘Greet-ing the Chelyuskinites’) and ‘Fotokor’; as well as various illustrated editions produced by Zhurgaz publishing con-glomerate.

Completely engrossed in his work, he constantly travelled on shoots for Soyuzfoto and the All-Union Agriculture Ex-hibition.

The geography of Shaik-het’s photography com-missions is the geography of the Soviet Union. Here is a list of his trips for 1937 alone: Khabarovsk, Vladiv-ostok, Grodekov, Khanka, Voroshilov, Simferopol, Yal-ta, Sevastopol, Zaporozhye, Leningrad, Lozovaya, Khark-ov, Baku, Mineralniye Vody, Dnepropetrovsk, Kiev, and so on.

In 1938 Arkady Shaikhet was dismissed from the editorial staff of ‘Ogonyok’ magazine and his work was no longer published in the magazines ‘Soviet Photo’ and ‘USSR in Construction’. In September he was engaged by a new publication, the ‘Illustrated Gazette’. It was in 1939 when Shaikhet took his best image, or more precisely, photo-pic-ture ‘Express’, the image of a country heading towards a glorious future. In 1932-1941 Arkady Shaik-het’s works were published in ‘anniversary’ albums. These included ‘Soviet Subtropics’ (1934), ‘Worker-Peasant Red Army’ (1934), ‘10 Years of Uzbekistan’ (1935), ‘Indus-try of Socialism’ (1935), ‘On Railway Transport.

E x h i b i t i o n “Arkady S h a i k h e t . Photographs 1932-1941 “The Russian Association of Proletarian Photographers (ROPF) was formed between 1931 and 1932, and Arkady Shaikhet actively participat-ed in its activities. Alexander Rodchenko became one of the leaders of the ‘October’ group.

Despite their differing views, photographers in these groups regularly collaborat-ed and shared their art expe-rience , while openly stand-ing up for their own opinions.

Back then, it was a turning point: photography, like all official art of the 1930s, was related to the slogan ‘The country must know its he-roes”. Searche for new art forms was ceased. Authorial individuality and self-realisa-tion as such were no longer the primary concern of the artist.

Propaganda, agitation and the creation of a new image for the country came to the fore. But talent, skill and pro-fessionalism remained. All of these appeared at a new stage in the work of Arkady Shaikhet.

This image became a sym-bol of the important histori-cal period, forging cultural ties between two polarized Cold War era cultures. That year was also marked with the birth of the artist’s son, Timothy Mcgurr, who, exact-ly 30 years later on, as pro-fessional photographer pho-tographed his father on the same spot on Red Square. Just a stone’s throw away, at the Shchusev state museum of architecture, FUTURA’s highly personal project, enti-tled “TIMEWARP” will open to the public.

This exhibition will showcase most recent artworks, espe-cially prepared for the show at Shchusev state museum of architecture.

FUTURA’s art can be en-joyed by anyone, from graf-fiti enthusiasts to admirers of the old masters. It brings to mind the works of Joan Miro, Jackson Pollock and Vasily Kandinsky, forcing viewers to rethink their pre-viously-held misconceptions of abstract art.

“The true observationist needs not a photograph-ic memory, but a feeling for things within sight barriers which we define as horizons. Know that it’s the ability to appreciate all of them that’s a paramount. If you’re not willing to look, you’ll never see. The option is clear, en-joy with unconditional happi-ness and fill these moments with

pleasure and surprise. Don’t let the forefront dictate the whole picture, look for graph-ic subterfuge in the back-ground which reveal more. These subtle nowheres I call home,” – comments FUTU-RA.

FUTURA (Leonard Mcgurr, formerly “FUTURA 2000”) is one of the most renowned US modern artists, a pioneer of the New York graffiti scene (representing the second wave of graffiti, the so-called “old school”), and forebear of abstractionism within the subculture. In the late 1970s and early 1980s FUTURA’s work was exhibited along-side leading artists, including Keith Haringm Jean-Michel Basquiat, Kenny Scharf, Rammellzee, Dondi White, Zephyr, Seen and came to embody the 80s New York underground scene. Over the last 30 years FUTURA had been constantly active as an artist, a graphic designer and an illustrator. His work has had a great impact on pop culture, and can be found in museums and private collec-tions all over the world.

“ F U T U R A . TIMEWARP”Futura – is a famous US artist in the New York graffiti cul-ture, who have been working as a graphic designer and il-lustrator for 30 years. He is considered as the ancestor of abstract graffiti, whose works have a huge impact on today’s pop culture.

FUTURA’s unique style was formed in the New York un-derground scene in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, when street subcultures, ex-perimental punk rock, hip-hop intersected with con-temporary art and fashion communities. Through his works, FUTURA explores the boundaries of text and abstraction, bringing into play a range of unique meth-ods and media.

TIME – is a very special field of study and exploration by FUTURA, which is a sub-ject of deep analysis, both technical and conceptual. Despite professional repu-tation, FUTURA doesn’t fo-cus on the achievements of the past. With true curiosity about the future he looks for the new formats, techniques and tools. Year2014 has been a landmark year in the life of the artist. In 1984 FU-TURA visited the Soviet Un-ion for the first time, and was photographed breakdancing on Moscow’s Red Square by photographer Sophie Bram-ley.

Victor Vasarely (1906-1997) – Hungarian-French artist who staarted from abstract art, and later studied the laws of visual perception.

In his works, he tried to fool a human eye, for ex-ample he created images that seem bulky on a flat paper.

The artist was engaged in creation of books and magazines, worked with advertising agencies, did projects for urban spaces and had a strong influence on modern design.

The exhibition features the famous painting with three-dimensional effect, zebra prints, and a collage that was brought to the space station “Soyuz-7.”
