Message from Rev. Lea

November is upon us, and with that comes cooler temperatures

and fall colors. In the United Methodist Church, November also

brings us All Saints Day. This is the day we remember and

celebrate all the saints “who from their labors rest”. Our founder,

John Wesley, believed and taught that we have much to learn from

the saints, but at the same time he emphasized the primacy of

focusing on the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

On November 4th

, we will celebrate All Saints Day by the

reading of the names of all those who have died during the past year.

We will also light a candle on the altar table as a visible recognition.

In preparation for this special service, as we remember our heritage,

we need you to submit any names of your loved ones that you would

like us to read. Please submit these names to the church office so

we can be prepared with the correct number of candles.

I look forward to this special day of worship with you.

Remembering our heritage is an important part of what we do as we

continue to be spurred on into the future. As United Methodists, we

strive to live in an ancient-future reality, balancing each in tension

with one another.

I hope you have a wonderful month. Remember that you are in

my prayers as we seek to be transformed by the power of God’s

grace working in our lives.

Blessings, Rev. Lea

Daylight Savings Time

Comes to an end at

2:00 am on Sunday,

November 4th.

Don’t forget to set your clocks BACK

To reduce shipping costs, we are limiting t h e f r e q u e n c y o f Cokesbury orders so

we can take advantage of combined shipping. The office will place orders on or around the 15th of every month. Please anticipate your Cokesbury needs and turn your orders into the office before that date each month. Of course, we will accommodate if an urgency arises.

'Middle of the Month Meal'

This year, the outreach committee would

like to create something a bit different the

upcoming Thanksgiving month for those in

our community who are less fortunate and

are in need of a good meal. We would like

to put together 1 meal for several families

in our community. These would be

distributed the week before Thanksgiving.

A possible meal could consist of 1 box of

hamburger helper, 1 lb. of ground beef, 1

can corn, 1 can green beans, and dessert;

this would change to accommodate the size

of the family or individual. The idea is to

have items they can simply prepare a meal

at home; if that is not possible, a prepared

meal in aluminum pans would be great.

We would appreciate these being

sponsored by individuals or families in our

congregation. We plan to continue this

once a month throughout the year! Hope

you can participate or bring suggestions for

persons that would like a meal. We need

your help!! THANK YOU!!

Newbern Christmas Parade

Outreach Project:

“The Giving Tent'”

Set your calendars for Thursday, November 29th for our gift to this county & community event! In the front of the church/parsonage, WARM items will be given out under tents from Steve, Pattye and Patrick. We need clean, used or new coats, scarves, toboggans (all sizes) or any winter clothing will be accepted AND our continued school supplies for the kids! (We don't want to appear to be a yard sale, but making it clean, bright, warm, and welcoming.) There will be 2 boxes in the church foyer to place these items beginning November 4th! At the parade, will also need other items including 'homebaked' cookies, brownies, and candy (individual servings in ziplock bags). The church will serve hot coffee and hot chocolate, all free to the visiting community! We know this is very EARLY, but we need your support for this community outreach program to be a success! We need to begin collection of the coats now. We need your help!! THANK YOU!!
