AURORA COLLEGE PHYSICS ONLINE On Friday the 17th of June, I attended a Physics HSC Study Day that was hosted online by Aurora College who I currently study Chemistry and Physics through. On the day there were a number of presentations including ones on special relativity, motors and generators, the history of physics, and exam tips and tricks. Learning about things covered in the Year 12 Physics course excited me for what we will be covering in the next few terms and I am definitely looking forward to investigating the topics covered. The exam tips and tricks presentation was presented by an experienced HSC marker and hearing an exam marker talk about the HSC exams, how they are structured and the best way to tackle them was really valuable to hear as a Year 11 student, as I am now able to start implementing the strategies he talked about much earlier which will be a huge benefit to me. A huge thanks to Mr Taylor for organising for me to attend and to everyone involved in making the day happen. Tieke Thomas, Student.

MCS MOVE ON TO STATE LEVEL IN LAWN BOWLS

On the 28th June, Alex Davis, Joe Spencer and I travelled to Yeoval with Mrs Dale to compete in the Lawn Bowls Central School Knockout. It was surprisingly good weather which made for a great match against the Yeoval Central School team. We played a total of 15 ends and came out on top with a final score of 23-7. We would like to thank the participants form Yeoval, their teacher Miss Brown and all the organisers for a great day. Our win will take Alex, Joe and I to state level, which will be played in Dubbo next term. A special thanks to Mrs Dale for taking us and supporting our team at the event. Sarah Fessey, student

NAIDOC Week rocks at MCS! On Wednesday 20th July, Molong Central School students immersed themselves in the Aboriginal Culture by being involved in a variety of activities throughout the day. Students in K-6 were involved in activities including Aboriginal Art, Dance, Dreamtime stories, Indigenous Games, cooking Johnny Cakes and learning the Wiradjuri language. Jason French from Sport and Rec introduced the K-2 students to a variety of Indigenous games and Tyrone Gordon, Hayley and Denzel from Thikkabilla Vibrations worked their magic with Years 3-6 students putting stories to dance. After recess we held a K-12 Naidoc Week Assembly where we were entertained by our dancers and also Jordon Moore from Orange City Council who spoke about what Naidoc means to him and also played the didgeridoo for us all. Cathy Cooper from the Aboriginal Lands Council and Ability Links also spoke with the students during the assembly. A big thankyou to Luke Neil who opened our assembly with the Acknowledgement to Country.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on students with learning support needs – NCCD 2016

Molong Central participates in the annual collection of nationally consistent data on students who receive assistance and adjustments for their learning. We collect information already available in the school about the support that is being provided to students - this has involved consultation with parents and the development of individual learning support plans. This process helps the Government to plan for students with a range of learning support needs. The data collection will have no direct impact on your child and they will not be involved in any testing process. The NSW Department of Education provides data to the Australian Government from all NSW Public Schools in such a way that no individual student or school will be able to be identified. In this way, we will ensure the privacy and confidentiality of all students. All information is protected by privacy laws which regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. Further information about the data collection can be found on the Australian Government Department of Education website: http://education.gov.au/nationally-consistent-collection-data-school-students-disability If you have any questions in regard to your child’s inclusion in the data collection please contact Mrs Barrett.

Hi Everyone,

Welcome back to Term 3. In Week 6 students will be

celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the CBCA Book

Week awards.

The theme for 2016 is Australia: Story Country. There

will be a variety of activities during the week to

acknowledge the wonderful nominated books for this

year.

Students will also be looking at past winners of the

CBCA awards since its inception in 1946. I will be

sending a note home soon.

Students will be bringing home Scholastic Book Club

catalogues this week. Orders will be due to the Library

office by Monday, 1st August by 3:30 pm.

Don’t forget Parents can use the LOOP option on the

Scholastic website to place credit card orders.

Our congratulations this week go to Ben Burgess (Yr

2), Paige Bohringer (Yr 4) & Joe Spencer (Yr 7) who

have completed the 2016 Premier’s Reading

Challenge.

These three students have made a dedicated effort to

read 20-30 books each over the past few months.

Well done!

All students who are participating in the PRC this year

received a note at the end of last term to remind them

of how they were progressing. I encourage all students

to put their roller skates on as they have just under a

month to complete the Challenge. Student websites

close at midnight on Friday, 19th August.
