Auction Success!!The last day in January brought sunshine and good luck to our Club. Our

Rotary Fun Day at Jessics Bar in Karsiyaka was not only a great opportunity

o raise awareness of Rotary and Rotary projects, but also to raise funds.The proprietor of Jessics,

Mus, kindly donated 5 tl

from every Barbeque

meal to our funds, and

the rae and bingo were

major contributors as

well. The biggest suc-

cess of the day was the

mega Aucon with manyravelling long distances to bid on the great range of new and nearly new

tems donated. The day raised over

6625 tl for our Club, and also gained

ome great publicity.

At our meeng on January 28th, the Club was

delighted to welcome back two Past Presidents

who have been missed over the past few

months. IPP Rahmi told us about his experienc-

es of meeng US Rotarians in Florida, and that

he was able to tell them about our Clubs

acheivements with pride. PP Ayhans road to

recovery from his quadruple bypass has led him

to the path of a healthy lifestyle with no smok-

ing, less stress, and lots of healthy sh dinners!

nue of Service-Rotary's connued quest for good-

will, peace and understanding among people of

Rotaract President Ozkans ReportOur meeng on January 28thwelcomed Rota-

ract President Ozkan Ibrahimer to report on hisclubs acvies.

The Rotaractors have a busy me ahead of

them: Ozkan announced the Joint Project of all

Rotaract Clubs of Cyprus to erect a Peace Sign

in the Buer Zone. Then he informed us of

their visit to Nicosia Burhan Nalbantolu Hospi-

tal on 31 January to the childrens Oncology

Department, and on the Joint Project with

Mersin Toros Rotaractors on 15 February to

contribute to the School of Disabled Children.

Our Guest Speaker for January was Prof. Dr Ibrahim

Benter, managing director of the Vakiar Trust. A

packed room of Rotarians and Guests heard rstly

about Prof Benters educaonal experiences and

medical career overseas, but also of his progress

with the largest Charitable Trust in North Cyprus

and the dierence it is making in the everyday livesof those living here. Prof Benters world renowned

medical research into hypertension and diabetes

connues and he has hopes that North Cyprus

could be a world centre for progress in this eld.
