Energy saving tipsTo avoid unnecessarily long dryingtimes and high consumption of energy:

– Make sure that your laundry isthoroughly spun before drying. The higher the spin speed, thegreater the savings that can be madein energy and time during drying, e.g.approx. 30% energy can be saved ifspun at 1600 rpm instead of 1000rpm.

– Load according to the optimumamount of laundry recommended forthe programme being used.Underloading is uneconomical.Overloading gives a poorer quality ofdrying and may cause unnecessarycreasing.

– Make sure the room temperature isnot too high. If there are other heatproducing appliances in the room inwhich the tumble dryer is located, make sure the room is well-ventilatedand switch the other appliances off, ifpossible.

– After every cycle remove the flufffrom the fluff filters in the door and inthe door opening.

– Check the condenser unit once ayear and clean it if necessary.

Correct use

Caution! Risk of fire.

To avoid the possible danger of fire, please read these warningscarefully.

A clogged filter is a fire hazard! The fluff filter must be cleaned after every programme.

The maximum load for this tumble dryer is 7.0 kg (dry weight). Seethe "Programme chart" for the maximum recommended loads forindividual programmes.

To prevent the risk of fire, do not connect the tumble dryer via acontrollable socket (e.g. a timer or a peak-load switch-off device). If the drying programme is interrupted before the end of the coolingdown phase, this could cause the laundry to self-ignite.

Page 9: Operating instructions Condenser tumble dryer...Operating instructions Condenser tumble dryer To avoid the risk of accidents or damage to the appliance, it is essential to read these

Warning and Safety instructions

9

Oil-affected items can ignite spontaneously, especially whenexposed to heat sources such as in a tumble dryer. The items become warm, causing an oxidation reaction in the oil.Oxidation creates heat. If the heat cannot escape, the items can become hot enough tocatch fire. Piling, stacking or storing oil-affected items can preventheat from escaping and so create a fire hazard. If it is unavoidable that fabrics contaminated with vegetable orcooking oil, or hair care products, be placed in a tumble dryer, theyshould first be washed in hot water with extra detergent - this willreduce, but not eliminate, the hazard.

To prevent the risk of fire, the following textiles must not be driedin this tumble dryer:

– Items which have not been washed.

– Items, such as workwear, which have not been thoroughlycleaned and which are still soiled with grease, oil or otherdesposits (such as cosmetics, lotions etc). If items have not beenthoroughly cleaned, there is a danger that these might ignite whenheated, even after they have been removed from the dryer at theend of the programme.

– Items that have been soiled with substances such as cooking oil, acetone, petrol, kerosene, spot removers, turpentine, waxes, waxremovers and other chemicals (e.g. mops and floor cloths).

– Items which have been splashed with hair lacquer, hair spray, nailvarnish remover or similar substances.

When washing such heavily soiled items ensure that you usesufficient detergent and select a high temperature. If in doubt, wash the items several times.

Remove all items from pockets (e.g. lighters, matches).

Page 10: Operating instructions Condenser tumble dryer...Operating instructions Condenser tumble dryer To avoid the risk of accidents or damage to the appliance, it is essential to read these

Warning and Safety instructions

10

Warning: Ensure that you always wait until the end of theprogramme before removing the laundry. If the drying programme isstopped prematurely, remove the laundry immediately and hang it upor spread it out to cool it down.

Fabric softener and similar products must be used according tothe instructions on the manufacturer's packaging.

To prevent the risk of fire, the following textiles must not be driedin this tumble dryer:

– Items which have been cleaned using chemicals (e.g. professionaldry-cleaning agents).

– Fabrics which contain a large proportion of rubber, foam rubber orrubber-like materials. For example, products made from latexfoam rubber, shower caps, waterproof textiles, rubberised articlesand items of clothing and pillows with foam rubber filling.

– Damaged fabrics which contain padding or fillings (e.g. pillows, jackets). When damaged, the filling can get out with the risk of itigniting in the dryer.

In many programmes, the heating phase is followed by a coolingdown phase to ensure that the items are not too hot to handle whenyou remove them (this also avoids the danger of the laundry self-igniting). The programme is not finished until the cooling down phasehas been completed. As soon as the programme has finished, remove all laundry from thedrum.

Do not let anyone sit or lean on the door, as this can cause thetumble dryer to tip up.

Always close the door after use. This way you will avoid thedanger of:

– children climbing onto or into the dryer or hiding things in it.

– pets or other small animals climbing into it.

The fluff filters must be cleaned regularly.

The dryer must not be used without the condenser unit in place.

The fluff filters must be thoroughly dried after wet cleaning. Do notreplace them if they are damp or wet. Damp or wet filters couldcause operational faults.

Do not install the tumble dryer in a room where there is a risk offrost occurring. At temperatures around freezing point the tumbledryer may not be able to operate properly. There is a risk of damageif the condensed water is allowed to freeze in the pump and hoses.

If the water is drained externally through the drain hose instead ofbeing collected in the condensed water container, make sure thedrain hose is securely attached if you hang it in a sink or basin toavoid the hose slipping and the water causing damage.

Condensed water is not drinking water. It can cause health problems in both people and animals.

Always keep the area around the tumble dryer free of dust andfluff.Dust drawn into the tumble dryer can cause blockages in the heatexchanger over time.

The tumble dryer must not be hosed down.

Tips on drying

Overloading can cause unnecessarywear and tear to the laundry, give adisappointing drying result andcause more creasing.Always observe the maximumrecommended loads given in the"Programme chart". Never overloadthe drum.

– Open jackets so that they can dryevenly.

– Do not put soaking wet items into thetumble dryer to dry them; spin themthoroughly for at least 30 secondsafter washing.

– Use the Automatic plus programmefor drying mixed loads of cottons andminimum iron fabrics.

– Woollens and wool blends tend tobecome matted and shrink if dried ina tumble dryer. They can, however,be "fluffed up" in the Woollenshandcare programme.

– Down-filled garments have liningswhich have a tendency to shrink, depending on the quality of the items. They can be partially dried using theGentle smoothing programme.

– Pure linen should only be machinedried if specified as suitable by themanufacturer on the garment carelabel, as the surface of the fabric mayotherwise become rough.

– Loopknit garments (e.g. T-shirts andunderwear) tend to shrink dependingon their quality. Do not overdry thesetextiles. When purchasing thesegarments, it is advisable to take theirshrinkage properties into account.

– Minimum iron fabric tends to creasemore, the larger the load. This is alsothe case for garments made fromvery fine weave fabric, such as shirtsor blouses. If necessary, selectMinimum iron and reduce the size ofthe load.

– Starched laundry can be dried in thetumble dryer. To achieve the usualfinish, double the amount of starchshould be used.

– New dark coloured garments shouldbe washed and dried separately fromlight coloured garments to avoid thedanger of colours running anddiscolouring other garments or evenplastic components in the dryer. Darkcoloured fibres can also settle onlight coloured garments and viceversa.

Building under a continuousworktop / in a kitchen run

Building under kits must only beinstalled/dismantled by a suitablyqualified fitter.

– A special building-under conversionkit* with a cover plate to replace theappliance lid is required. It must befitted by a Miele approved technicianto ensure electrical safety. N.B. If youwish to push your appliance under aworktop and there is space to do thiswithout removing the lid, the buildingunder kit is not necessary. Otherwiseit is essential.

– Fitting instructions are supplied withthe conversion kit.

– N.B. When built under, drying timesmay be longer.

– The electrical socket must be locatedin an accessible position near theappliance.

With niche heights of:

– 830-840 mm, longer screw feet* arerequired.

– 870-885 / 915-930 mm, one or tworaising kits* are required.

* accessory available to order

Washer and dryer stack

The tumble dryer can be combined witha Miele washing machine in a washer-dryer stack. The appropriate Mielewasher-dryer "WTV" stacking kit* isrequired.

Installation and connection

40

The gap between the base of thedryer and the floor must not beminimised by a plinth or thick-piledcarpet as this would prevent asufficient intake of cold air.

A build-up of heat can be avoided byadjusting the screw feet so that there isa gap of at least 20 mm between thefloor and the bottom of the dryer.

Do not obstruct the cool airintake at the front with a laundrybasket or other objects. This would hinder a sufficient intakeof cool air for the condenser unit.

Room ventilation

Cool air taken in for the drying processis expelled from the front of the dryerand heats up the air in the room. Ensurethat the room has sufficient ventilation,e.g. by opening a window. Otherwisedrying durations may be longer.

Adequate ventilation has to be providedto avoid the back flow of gases into theroom from appliances burning otherfuels, including open fires.

Before moving the tumble dryeragain (e.g. when moving house)

After each use a small quantity ofcondensed water will collect in the areaof the pump. This water can run out ifthe tumble dryer is tipped up when it isbeing moved. It is a good idea to runthe Warm air programme forapproximately 1 minute before movingthe tumble dryer. Any remainingcondensed water will then be fed intothe condensed water container or outthrough the drain hose.
