Our LOrd Jesus Christ, King Of the universe nOvember 21, 20213
Letter From The PastorDear Parishioners,
The Church’s liturgical year concludes this weekend with the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. To Jesus Christ be glory and power forever and ever! His are majesty and splendor, and His kingdom is everlasting, a kingdom of cosmic dimensions. On the Solemnity of Christ the King, there is a practice of enthroning an image of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in one’s home. If you have an image, the parish priests and I would be happy to bless it for you.
We offer heartfelt congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Florian Gregorczyk and Diane King as they receive the 2021 Diocese of St. Petersburg St. Jude the Apostle Medal for exceptional service to our parish. Their dedication and love for our Catholic faith has generously contributed to the spreading of the Gospel. They will receive the medal at a prayer service Sunday afternoon at the Cathedral. Thank you, Florian and Diane, for your many years of service.
I invite you to our Thanksgiving Day Mass on Thursday, November 25 at 10:00 A.M., to give thanks for our many blessings despite the very real problems of economic inflation and the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. More than ever, we need to renew and strengthen the bonds of our family, social, and religious lives. With so many assaults to our physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental wellbeing, turning to the Lord in prayer is critical and our only way forward. The parish offices and the Conesa Center will be closed Wednesday, November 24 through Friday, November 26 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Next weekend the holy season of Advent begins. Ignatius Pew Missals will be placed in the pews containing the Mass readings and other prayers and devotions. Thank you to parishioners John and Colette Killebrew, Cinthia Mikos, Rita Griffin, Marge Hartig-Specht, and Karen Humphreys for organizing our annual Advent Giving Tree. Your support is always appreciated and makes a real difference for children and families in need.
On behalf of our parish priests and staff – Happy Thanksgiving
Father Joel M. Kovanis

Think About This
First Reading:Th e prophet Daniel as a vision of the “everlasting dominion” of the “son of man.” Why do you
think the Lord revealed this vision to Daniel?Second Reading:
John teaches his community that Jesus “has made us (believers) into a kingdom, priests for his God and Father.” How should knowledge of this reality aff ect your spiritual journey?
Gospel:In his trial Jesus tells Pilate that his kingdom is not of this world. What do you think prevents
the Kingdom of God from being more fully present in our world?
Need a Tax Break?
Congress has permanently enacted qualifi ed charitable distributions from your traditional IRA accounts for those 70 1/2 or older. Th ese distributions can be used to satisfy all or a portion of your Required Minimum Distribution and are free of federal income tax. Also, these gifts help you avoid the Medicare high income surcharge and can help reduce your income taxes on your
social security benefi ts.
Distributions must be made directly from your IRA account to your parish, or directly from your IRA account to the Diocese of St.
Petersburg for the benefi t of your parish.
For questions, contact the Diocese of St. Petersburg Campaign Offi ce at [email protected] or 727.341.6841.

Response: e Lord is king; he is robed in majesty.
Psalm 93:1-2,5
FiRst Reading As the visions during the night continued, I saw one like a Son of man coming, on the clouds of heaven; when he reached the Ancient One and was presented before him, the one like a Son of man received dominion, glory, and kingship; all peoples, nations, and languages serve him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not be taken away, his kingship shall not be destroyed.
Th e Word of the LordR./ Th anks be to God.
second ReadingJesus Christ is the faithful witness, the fi rstborn of the dead and ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, who has made us into a kingdom, priests for his God and Father,to him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen.Behold, he is coming amid the clouds, and every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him.All the peoples of the earth will lament him.Yes. Amen.
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, “ says the Lord God,“the one who is and who was and who is to come, the almighty.”

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.For our sake he was crucifi ed under Pontius Pilate he suff ered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance
with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorifi ed, who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.
Amen.

Pilate said to Jesus,“Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus answered, “Do you say this on your ownor have others told you about me?” Pilate answered, “I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests handed you over to me. What have you done?” Jesus answered, “My kingdom does not belong to this world. If my kingdom did belong to this world,my attendants would be fi ghting
to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not here.” So Pilate said to him, “Th en you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world,to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.”
