    Christ the King

The year is fast coming to an end. The year 12s have taken the next step in their lifes journey; the primary school children finish in a few days, people are readying themselves for Christmas which is only four weeks away. The end times of the year and also the end of our liturgical year are upon us.

This weekend we celebrate Christ the King. A celebration which brings all these things at the end of our year together. It is a good reminder, even in the busyness of these end of year things, to slow down and to remember who is important in our lives, not what is important, but who!

In and through those whom we love and care for, is the face of Christ. In the stranger we pass in the street, in the refugee struggling with no home, in the face of our neighbours, we are reminded in this feast of Christ the King, that it is only through Him that our world makes sense and is made whole again. As things get closer to Christmas, things seem to get crazier. May we take the time to simply be: be who we are to those around us and to be the face of Christ in our world. Amen.

    Fr Matthew

  • The Did you know? column is a new initiative for our parish. This column will have information regarding a variety of topics. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) is a resource which could be used at times. The Church has documents, letters, the CCC and many other resources that can be used for information on the sacraments or to clarify issues which are currently happening in the community and world.

    EUTHANASIA - CCC

2276: Those whose lives are diminished or weakened deserve special respect. Sick or handicapped persons should be helped to lead lives as normal as possible. 2277: Whatever its motives and means, direct euthanasia consists in putting an end to the lives of handicapped, sick, or dying persons. It is morally unacceptable. Thus an act or omission which, of itself or by intention, causes death in order to eliminate suffering constitutes a murder gravely contrary to the dignity of the human person and to the respect due to the living God, his Creator. The error of judgment into which one can fall in good faith does not change the nature of this murderous act, which must always be forbidden and excluded.
