Topic ParagraphWhen the Industrial Revolution started, it had major positives and

major negatives. With introductions of machines, the world was now ready to have more things, but getting resources cost resources. Needing to preserve some space so it wouldn’t be filled up with factories, the government fenced off areas where small-time farmers grew crops. The industrial revolution changed how hard the economy worked, the work of farmers (the enclosure movement, and even child labor.

Economic:

With the invention of the locomotive, more workers had to risk their health to bring up lots of coal for the ever-consuming train.

Without land to work in, small-time farmers worked in mines. With a surplus of coal and other fuels, locomotives began transporting goods all over the world.

The locomotive was energy consuming, slow compared by today’s standards, and released lots of pollutants into the air. Fortunately, people have improved upon the coal and steam powered locomotive to make the fast, energy efficient railways and metros we have today.

Social:

• The Enclosure Movement took land away from farmers, who then couldn’t farm or work on the land. Many didn’t have anything they could do, so they moved to cities to help in the factories.

With the rise of the Industrial revolution, machines began to take over the jobs of people.

Land was confiscated from untrustworthy farmers and handled by knowledgeable folks

who used newer and better farming techniques

This affects us today, because if we left all the farmers there, we wouldn’t have such advanced or as much farming land as we do now.

Political:

• Many political debates the use of child labor and safe equipment. Workers did not have safety clothes and wore their loose day-to-day clothes. Factories were made more money, and safety costs money. People neglected to even put safety rails in.

The problem was solved, and children were taken out of factories. Now that the children’s small,

untrained fingers were out of factories, production was better (more money) and people no

longer had the stress of having children being hurt in factories (worker happiness.)

This affects us today because children now have public education and they don’t have to work in factories.
