This concept is about stimulating interactions. It is a system that exists out of a ‘seed’, supported by a website to facilitate communica-tion. Once the seed is planted, it will grow together with the com-munity into a self evolving meet-ing point. The possibilities are un-limited, one can leave messages, ask for information, gather with friends, exchange goods, organ-ise parties… and most importantly, you get to meet your neighbours again!

a n d y b u n a r t oCREATING VALUE AT THE COST OF VALUE

Traditional ways of living and sharing resources is the most important trend we want to focus on in this project. Modern lifestyles require high levels of materials and energy causing a lot of pollution. We’re being overwhelmed with products and services. We can buy everything to increase our independence.

This phenomenon is highly reducing the opportunity to build social relationships. Therefore social interactions must be stimulated to increase wellbeing.

5. community sense !

4. meet at the seed!

3. exchange tools, knowledge, even services

trafficGlobalization allows us to have products from all over the world available at any time. This traffic not only produces air pollution and depletion of natural resources but decreases also the value given to traditional local produced food.

packagingThe industrial system provides the society plenty of packages. Can’t we reduce this amount of waist by personalizing the packages? If we want to succeed in this we have to give the packaging an emotional value so people will reuse it.

family quality timeThe hunted lifestyles nowadays affects the quality time we share with our families during dinner. Huge quantities of paper and plastics are wasted to support this mass consumption system. Encouraging families to eat back together could give people the richness of each others thoughts back

The basic process for sharing your resources will be to log in to your community website and leave a message to share your par-ticular need or to respond on one from someone else. After getting in touch, the two persons would “meet at the seed” to exchange their resources. The seed repre-sents the system and is a symbol for the social bonds within the community.

In this assignment, paper was used as a multifunctional packaging for a combination of a set of products. Besides a protective function, the packaging must be able to transofrm into a mode one can display on the shelves in retail stores.

Besides esthetical and practical design drivers, it was also important that as many packages as possible could fit into one

ELECTRONIC BOARD GAME

The meaning of this assignment was to explore the new possibilities electronics offer to communication and social interaction. An integrated method of working was required where a mix of design activities were brought together such as: user interaction, graphic interface, electronic design and software development.

this electronic board game has a capacitive touch interface. It detects human touch as well as the ring that will play a crucial in the interaction between board, player and players among each other. the ring will serve as spyhole, dice, target ...

The rail whereupon the ring twists, will be glued on the interface

To define the amount of steps the player may take, he has to place the ring on the rails and give it a twist.

When it’s your turn, a fog appears over the maze. One must drag the extra tile around the maze to push it in the right row. Because of the fog one can barely see. Herefore the ring is serves as an eye…

All the squares in one row can be pushed so that an other square becomes available for the next player. Doing this the one can block his opponents from their treasure! Ones pushed, the field becomes clear again

CRADLE TO CRADLEtable becomes closet becomes frame...

This project is a result of an international project about the subject cradle to cradle in association with Prof. Dale Murray.

It consists out of modular elements which enables the furniture to transform to objects with other functions.

The philosophy behind this is that the product will transform as soon as it doesn’t suits anymore in the child’s desire. So it can evolve from a child’s table to a little closet to a frame… When time goes the furniture will gain more emotional value.

When the consumer enters the experience centre of Mcdonalds, he will experience step by step the origin of the ingredients of his burger.

Because of the storytelling, the consumer will get a closer relation with the product and thus will give more value to it.

This conceptual design is the result of one workshopweek. The meaning was to explore the present trends that are going on. The most important trends we based this concept on was:- slow food- more experience less consumption- authenticity

handtools

Redesign of a handtool because of the introduction of a new battery with different dimensions and weight, but a better performance.

each of our team needed to redesign a handtool in order to maintain or even improve the ergonomy.

All of these handtools were brought under the same brand, TREZZO.

ROBOT RACE

This assignment existed out the design of a mechanical system. The constructed mechanism has to follow a traject, determined by a given start and ending position.

In the middle of the trjact, the robot will be obstructed by an obstacle, partially coverd with slippery MDF, partially covered with synthetic grass.

To succeed, the mechanism has to come to an ending position with al its components at least inside the arrival zone (D 0,70m).

The more the mechanism ends towards the middle, the better the score that will be assigned.
