Photographic Research.

Plessey Woods Country Park, i loved the large range of landscapes and props; A number of bridges, some large and made of old stone, others smaller and wooden. There were areas filled with smaller trees, and a number of small lakes running through the park. However is a popular spot which made taking photo’s without passer by’s in more difficult, many of the interesting natural features that I liked were hard to reach due to overgrown plants and weather conditions.

Ellington Dene -featured in Billy Elliot the film as centre of a mining community. I really like the old bridge and the tunnels within it. The muddy puddles down the long dirt track which runs through the dene made images that I felt captured a rural area in a developing industrial town.The location was good for capturing a lot of character in a smaller space than Plessey, but again, was very difficult to get images in some areas! With the limited light of the time of year, photos within the tunnels were much harder to see, and they were filled with running water.

I decided to do my garment photography on location rather than in studio so that I could use some of the local scenery sice the project is based on local heritage, I wanted the images to reflect that. I carried out some location research, visiting some wooded areas near the collieries studied earlier in the process.

SO MANY MODELS SEEM TO BE CARBON COPIES OF EACHOTHER, AND FIT BEAUTIFULLY INTO THE MODEL STEREOTYPE... BUT THE MODELS THAT CATCH EYES, THE MODELS THAT THE PRESS WRITE ABOUT, AND THE MOD-ELS YOU REMEMBER THE NAMES OF BRING SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO THE TABLE. IT’S WHAT SETS THE MODELS ASIDE FROM THE SUPER MODELS. PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE.

I PUT A FOCUS ON THE ‘PERSONALISATION OF YOURSELF’ FOR MY PHOTO IN THE GROUP SHOOT; LOOKING AT THE BARE PERSON, AND WHAT THEY ADD TO PUT A STAMP OF PERSONALITY ON THEIR EXTERIOR.

A GROUP SHOOT, WHERE WE ALL LOOKED AT HANDS AS A COMMON THEME. HANDS REPRESENT A RANGE OF THINGS AND TELL YOU SO MUCH ABOUT A PERSON, EVEN WHEN ONLY IN SUCH SUBTLE WAYS.

Personal StructureA COLLECTION BASED ON EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL LAYERS OF A PERSON. USING PANELS, PLEATS, TEXTURAL FABRIC MANIPULATIONS AND VISABLE STITCHING TO CREATE A VARIED LAYERED EFFECT. EACH EFFECT REPRESENTING DIFFERENT SEGMENTS TO AN INDIVIDUAL.
