  • 1HOW BIG DOES THE INTERVENTION NEED TO BE FOR IT TO MAKE A CHANGE?Since all development in any city, its success or failure, derives from its people, we learned about their concerns and routines and tried to understand, under the perspective of a foreigner, the rhythm of the place, confronting our first impressions with the findings of a thorough analysis of data and approaching the city with the smallest interventions.

We approached our project by reaching out to the people of Dessau, in the hopes of getting closer to learning about their needs and hopes for the city. Tourists usually visit a place because of its cultural value, and our goal is to make Dessaus society the point of interest for which people visit the city. We chose to work with the forgotten groups of the population: the refugees. We believe they can play a very important role in the city if they are given the chance to participate in their activities.

  • The first step in our proposal is to integrate all the different social groups that exist in the city, through an intervention in their daily routines.

As an answer to the new activities proposed in the plaza, we believe the space needs a new organization with furniture, mobile kitchens, and temporal pavilions that make the space feel more comfortable and approachable.

  • 2On 2015, the mexican government announced that they were going to build a new airport for their capital. Meanwhile, the group Arquine launched another competition so that young architects could make proposals as to what to do with the old airport.WHAT IS THE CITY BUT THE PEOPLE?

    William ShakeSpeare

  • The proposal focuses on people rather than architecture, because, what is the city but the people? How can you decide what to do if you do not ask what the city wants first? A single question was asked to people who lived and worked near the airport, and their answers are reflected on the notebook. The question was: what are you doing to make a change in your country?

  • 3Colonia Doctores is one of the most deteriorated districts within the city, their biggest problem being insecurity. What can you bring to this sector to fight this problem? We believe that all people, no matter where they come from, can identify with art, hence our proposal is born.MORE HOUSING OR A BETTER CITY?

The aim of the project is to re-generate a block in one of the most unsafe districts

in Mexico City. Taking advantage of the already existing cultural corridor in the

neighbouring district, the proposal seeks to expand this cultural identity through a

series of buildings and activities that bring life to this part of the city.

  • The architectural proposal is a hotel for artists, where they can come from all over the world and find a space to express themselves, to socialize and develop their skills, where they can also teach to the locals their abilities. All this while integrating with the neighbourhood, using the public spaces and making the it safer.

  • 4In 1860, the Cerd Plan for Barcelona was created, where wider streets and more public space were the main objectives. However, nowadays these principles are not met, so a competition for the re-generation of the Cerd Plan was launched, to re-gain the lost public space and to re-think the city.RE- THINKING BARCELONA

THE PROJECT RESCUES THE CENTER OF THE BLOCK, PROMOTING THE CONNECTION BETWEEN DIF-FERENT PUBLIC SPACES, AND CONNECTING THE INTENTIONS OF THE MASTER PLAN, THEREFORE LET-TING RESIDENTS IDENTIFY WITH THE PUBLIC SPACE.

OUR ARCHITECTURAL PROPOSALS BECOME STRATEGIC DETONATORS FOR THE ECONOMY, THE SOCI-ETY AND THE TOURISM, THAT PROMOTE DIALOGUE AND REINTERPRET THE CONTEXT.

THE RECOVERY OF THE CENTER OF THE BLOCKS ARE OF GREAT IMPORTANCE TO OUR PROJECT. THEY SEEK THAT THE AUTHORITIES AND THE RESIDENTS RE-THINK THE USE THEY ARE GIVING TO THE CITY AS IT IS, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE SPEED IN WHICH BARCELONA IS GROWING.

This proposal looked to reclaim Barcelonas importance in a specific sector of the city. The master plan proposed a business cluster, where all the young minds, either from Spain or from any other part in the world, could get together, join their talent and bring new ideas to the XXI century. On a second phase, a building was also proposed for it to be their meeting point, so that it could be a business incubator, which also seeked to rescue the public space the city had lost. Therefore, the architectural proposal becomes an economic, social, cultural and touristic trigger. With this idea, we want both the government and the people to re-think the way they are making use of their city.

  • 5As one of the most visited markets in the city, mostly by foreigners, La Ciudadela market has the potential to be more than a simple market with the right planning. Opposed to being the typical Mexican market, the proposal attempts to create a new and different space starting with an older one.A MARKET OR AN ATTRACTION?

Mexicos City La Ciudadela market is one of the most famous and reknown markets of the city, where both locals and tourists shop. Throughout the

years, this market has been invaded by informal commerce, making us forget the essence of the real market. This project proposes a new idea for

the market, where the artisans can regain their rightful space with the right conditions, and where the customer can enjoy the experience of visiting the

market. The proposal takes place in an old catalogued building, which the project attempts to rescue as best it can, preserving the beauty of the old

and adapting it to the new intervention.

  • 6THE DETAILS ARE NOT THE DETAILS. THEY MAKE THE DESIGN

Charles EamesWhen presented with the challenge of creating a 3D object, why not think about the things we use and see in our everyday life? The best way to design is to look at what surrounds us.

    iPhone CASE

  • The objective of this project was to learn how to use a 3D modelling program. In this exercise,

the iPhone case was modelled in Rhinoceros, and was created through a 3D printer. The

case was designed for an iPhone 5s, and was created in a silicone material.

  • The pattern of the case was based on the geometric cellular pattern of a leaf. One pattern was superimposed over the other in order to creat the two layer of the case. Afterwards, the two layers were joined with the borders of the case.

  • 7Every person is different and everyone has a different concept of beauty. We are constantly bombarded by the media about what is supposed to look good. With this project, we challenged this paradigm and give the freedom to the users to create whatever design they feel accomplishes their standard for beauty.FREEDOM TO CHOOSE

  • The purpose of this project was to create a multifunctional furniture. A base model was produced, and the objective was to create any kind of forms by adding or removing modules. The module can be used as a bookshelf, as decoration, as a low bench or a chair for kids. the user has the freedom to decide what he wants his furniture to look like.

  • 10This picture was taken in Kenrokuen garden in Kanazawa, Japan. Photography is very important to me as an architect because it allows us to see a different perspective. While taking this picture, I could relate an architectural space contained in this trees. If you analyze the essence of the photograph, there is no difference between a contained tree and a contained space.
