Term 3 Week 8B
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
An Outstanding Achievement
Congratulations to Katie Daymond. Rachael Reid, Siobhan Gleeson and Claudia
Campbell on achieving a Principal’s Award at our Term 3 merit award
assembly. They have reached the highest level on the merit system in
recognition of their application to all aspects of school life.
Excellence in Science
Students are to be highly commended on the excellent science research projects
that were displayed in the multipurpose centre on the evening of our science
fair. Thank you to everyone who attended. Your presence helped to make the
evening special for students and staff.
Well Done!
Thank you to Mr Leite, Mr Prentice, Mrs
Dowton and their team of helpers for the
work they put into ensuring our merit
assembly was a success. A lot of effort
goes on behind the scenes to ensure these
important events run smoothly.
National Partnerships for 2012
National Partnerships is currently funding a teacher and a school learning
support officer for the Macquarie Room, a literacy tutor, staff professional
learning and a deputy principal whose focus is on improving attendance and
improving systems within the school. Please contact me, if you would like to
recommend changes to how the grant is spent in 2012.
Fun at the Gala Day
A very successful middle school gala day was held recently, attended by
students from our school and Narromine Public School. Our Year 11 students
provided support as referees and helpers. They displayed leadership skills when
working with the younger students and a sound understanding of the school’s
core values respect, responsibility and care.
Uniform Survey Coming Your Way
The P & C is keen to hear your thoughts about our uniform. A survey will be
included in the next newsletter, which will be mailed at the end of term.

Year 10 Work Experience
Year 10 students should be finalising their work experience arrangements. Work experience will occur
from 21 November – 25 November and all necessary forms must be completed by the end of Term 3.
Three students, Tennille Adams, Jack Dolton and Jordyn Neve have already completed work experience
and have had an invaluable insight into the work force. Tennille went to Western Plains Zoo, working
behind the scenes with the zoo keepers and had many close encounters with the animals. Her highlight
was playing and feeding the tigers and receiving a kiss from an elephant. Jack travelled to Melbourne
and worked with the Melbourne Storm, where he met and worked with many of the players and came
home with much purple and blue memorabilia. Jordyn went to Fox Studios in Sydney and had a first
hand experience at make-up artistry.
I encourage all students to participate in work experience. If you have any queries, please do not
hesitate to contact Jan Davison or Sheran Fisher.

NHS SHOW TEAM The Narromine High School show team has been busy over the last couple of months attending shows
around the district.
The show team has prepared 8 steers for Tullamore, Trundle, Peak Hill, Parkes and Narromine Shows.
A Narromine High School Steer was awarded Grand Champion led and Grand Champion Unled steer at
all of the shows we attended this season. We were fortunate enough to have steers kindly donated to us
from various studs around the district and without the support from these local producers we would not
have been able to perform as well as we did. Waitara Angus Stud at Trangie donated two steers to the
school and it was these two steers that were most often awarded Grand Champion led steer. Hollywood
Special Offer on cost of school jackets Normally $66.00 reduced to $35.00
While stocks last.
Angus Stud at Peak Hill has also been a generous supporter of Narromine High School and it was a steer
donated to us from them, affectionately named T-Bone, that took out Grand Champion unled steer at all
shows we attended.
Narromine High School students also featured in the paraders competitions, with a student from
Narromine being awarded champion parader at all shows we attended. At Tullamore Show, Alisha
Roots was named Champion Novice Parader, while Katrine Rasmussen was awarded Champion Junior
Parader. At Trundle Show, Alisha Roots and Claudia Campbell took the top honours, while at Peak Hill
it was Brad Fazzari who won Grand Champion parader. Nathan Leach took out the top award at
Narromine Show.
Katrine Rasmussen Alisha Roots
Claudia Campbell Brad Fazzari
All students have worked really hard and should be congratulated for their efforts. A huge thank you
must also be extended to Mr Dick Leach for kindly volunteering his time to take the steers to each of
the shows for us.

The 2011 Science Spectacular was truly spectacular. Throughout the
evening community members, family, friends and students entered the
hall to view the fabulous science projects students from Trangie Central,
St Augustine’s, Narromine Public and Narromine High School had
produced. Over 200 people selected their favourite project for the
People’s Choice awards, with over 170 projects
to select from.
People who attended the Science Spectacular
were impressed with the outstanding projects with everyone agreeing that the
project quality had increased over the past 4 years.
Many thanks to AgnVet who sponsored the
evening, Trangie Central, St Augustine’s,
Narromine Public and Narromine High
School teachers who support students in developing and
implementing their projects, parents and community members for
coming out on the night and celebrating everyone’s achievements,
and everyone that had something to do with the night.

A FREE RTA parents' workshop will be hosted by David Riches on Wednesday 26 October at the
Narromine Services Club from 5.30 pm – 7.30 pm.
