We tried to all stay as dry as possible and I would like to thank the school community for their support. Our thoughts are with the families across Newcastle and the Hunter area who lost lives and whose homes were damaged by the floods. Term 2 is always a very busy term. We work hard writing school reports, there are parent/teacher interviews in the last week and sports events throughout the term. Dear Parents and Caregivers, Welcome back to what was a very, very wet week last week in Sydney. an absolute credit to them. Direct Debit Reminder Please ensure that if you make payments using our direct debit system you MUST put your child’s surname and class as the reference. You must return the permission note to the office. Stage 2 Excursion

Years 3 and 4 battled the wet and enjoyed a fabulous day at The Observatory last week. They were lucky enough to look through a real telescope but unfortunately could only focus on raindrops. The planetarium was a real hit. Students observed constellations as far away as Alice Springs. They watched a 3D movie and realised just how small we are on Earth compared to the universe. Thank you to Miss Maine for her great organisation of the day. Anzac Day Service Last Friday our Anzac Day Service was held in the school hall. This is a solemn occasion and allows students and staff to remember those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Guest

speakers and visitors included Robert Herbert, Stephen Mann and Andre LeFleur from the Royal Australian Navy. They spoke briefly about their role in the Navy and their experience. Kindergarten students made wreaths in class and laid their wreaths on the stage during the ceremony. Students from Year 4 shared writing that they have composed while learning about the landings at Gallipoli. Students wore poppies as a sign of respect for Liverpool and Australia's soldiers. Miss Maine and Mrs Mann did an excellent job of organising the service.

SKOOL APP Can I remind parents that if you haven’t added the school app to your phone, please do so. This will keep you up to date on what is happening in the school, it will alert you to changes, if PSSA or excursions are cancelled. It keeps you ‘in the loop’ around what is happening at Casula. To install it, just search for our school name "Casula Public School" in either the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Please make sure you allow push notifications when prompted so that any alerts will come through on your phone. P&C News The next P&C meeting will be held on Tuesday 5th May at 9.15am in the Community Room. This room is closest to the bus bay at the front of the school. Any member of the school community can attend the meeting. The P&C will be holding their annual Mother’s Day stall on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th May. Gifts will be priced from 50c to $10. More information will be available closer to the date. Winter PSSA Winter PSSA begins on the 8th May. Please ensure that payments are made and permission notes are given to coaches. Have a fabulous fortnight,

Mrs Diamond
