DRIVER EDUCATION Our Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) approved traffic safety course consists of one mandatory parent/student program information meeting, thirty hours of classroom instruction, twelve hours in the car with six hours of behind the wheel instruction, and six hours of observation. Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor: Cassandra Osorio For members of the community seeking training in critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. Nursing Assistant I Instructor: Diane Weaver Meets requirements of the Oregon State Board of Nursing for students wishing to become nursing assistants at training level 1 (e.g., CNA-1). Intro to Nosework & Scent Training Instructor: Brian Carvalho Nosework refines your dog’s searching skills. It helps calm excitable dogs, builds drive and confidence and provides you with an easy and low impact way to mentally stimulate your pup. Dogs who already have nosework experience will work on scent training. Scent training involves pairing the scent of a container, vehicle, or exterior environments with high value treats. NEW Intro to Wine & Wine Tasting Instructor: Rene Brons Learn the basic terms and principles of wine tasting and wine making in a fun and interactive environment. Explore basic wine production from grape to glass and discuss basic wine characteristics; color, aromatics, and flavors using basic methodology and terminology. Class will meet at various local wineries for opportunities to practice newly learned skills. Students will be responsible for paying the $10 wine tasting fee at each of the wineries we visit. Required text for class, “Wine Folly: The Essential Guide to Wine” by Madeline Puckett can be purchased on Amazon for around $20. Must be 21 or older to register.
