1962 when the old 'Communication !uilding (C!)organisation was split into 2 separate "odies (the other "eing#u"lic $or%s Department)& RHD is responsi"le orcommunication and maintenance o the maor road and

"ridge networ% o !angladesh&

ince the Department was esta"lished the si*e o the maorroad networ% in !angladesh has grown rom 2+,-- %ms to thepresent networ% o 21+.-2&-/ 0m&

The RHD is headed "y a Chie ngineer who is supported "ya num"er o dditional Chie ngineers& The total num"er oposts in the Department is 9+.69
