RIDLEYHISTORYRace Productions NV was ounded in 1990 as a rame and paint shop or the local bicycle shops. In 1997 the Ridley Bies brand
was ounded. In the early beginnings, Ridley Bies was only distributed on the local maret, but in a ew years time, RidleyBies became maret leader on the Belgian maret or race bies. In 2001, we started our own branded component line 4ZA(pronounced orza). The company structure was reorganized in 2002 to prepare the launch into the international maret.Ridley HQ doubled in size rom 2.500m to 5.000m.
International brea through was realized in 2004 with Ridley Bies delivering race bies to strategic countries (aa as the biecountries) within Europe. Thereater, Ridley Bies started to deliver race bies worldwide. In Europe we provide our customerswith a doortodoor service and the intercontinental marets are serviced through a distributor. In 2008 we started an secondproduction site in Moldova.2010 is the year o the Ridley move. Ridley Bies moved to their brand new EHQ o 12.000m.

Our teams ride our stoc rames, this allows us to test ourproducts in etreme conditions. In this way, our product goes into the consumer maret the best possible way. The riders helped us in thecontinuous search to improve our rames which resulted in the xNight being the astest and most advanced crossrame on the circuit.
In the beginning we wored with local U23 road teams, this gave us ideal testing opportunities because the riderswere spending countless hours training and racing on grueling Belgian pave. In 2005 the Pro Tour was launched
by the UCI and we signed a 4 year contract with the Belgian Lotto team (SilenceLotto). The collaboration withLotto too Ridley to a new level. Not only did we win numerous titles, more importantly, we established a goodrelationship with the riders and mechanics.
During this critical development timerame we ound two distinct requirements : superior stiness vs light weight(or ideal ratio between stiness and weight). Our sprinters wanted a superior level o rame stiness and ourclimbers requested a lighter rame that did not compromise the rames responsiveness. We quicly attained thegoals or both groups o riders in 2006. The Noah was constructed to surpass the Ridley standard or rame stinessor strong sprinters lie Robbie McEwen, whilst the Helium provided additional comort combined with our beststiness to weight ratio. In 2007 we set a new Ridley standard in urther reducing the weight o the Helium so thata complete bie would weigh signicantly less than the UCI 6.8g limit.Conclusion : aerodynamics is our direction. With the production o our rst Noah we ound that we could build
stier rames than the rider could handle. With the Helium we already had a bie lighter than the UCI requiredlimit.
The goal was not only, lie many brands do, improve the streamline o the bie. BUT or us a perectly streamlinedbie was just the basis to start looing or the real aero drag problems on a bie. Thereore, Ridley Bies launchedthe Ridley Aero Project (now now as ASTconcept). Ater 2 years o etensive testing in the wind tunnel and onthe trac, Ridley Bies introduced the new Dean and Noah to the maret. Every detail o these rames has beenstudied careully, equipped with Splitor and Surace technology. In the Tour de rance o 2011 we introducedthe Brae, the rst real integrated brae (or more ino see ASTconcept p 1018).
2009 an 2010 Ridley teamed up with the new Pro Tour Team katusha.Since 2011 Ridley has a partnership with Pro Team VacansoleilDcm. This Pro Team consist o riders such as Belgianchamp Stijn Devolder, Bjorn Leuemans, Romain eillu, Both parties had the desire to race with the astest bie
in the world. The riders are all aboard the Ridley Noah and Helium or the road races and on the Ridley Dean ortime trial.Ridley is also involved in triathlon with Belgian based UPlace team (Bart Aernouts, Tine Decers), Italian basedPeperoncino team and US based Zoot team. Obviously our AST concept developments play a ey role in our Tribies.Our uture continues with aerodynamics. In 2010 Ridley Bies moved to a 12.000 m high tech building. The newbuilding is equipped with the newest technology which allows us to build the best bies in the world. urthermore,Ridley Bies will build its own wind tunnel within the actory setting in the Belgian headquarters which will allowus to develop our aero technology in the best possible circumstances.

4. The prototypes developed rom these designs are originally stress tested on thecomputer. Once these model tests are satisactory we move the testing process to theeld and our Ridley proessional riders.

SAVE WEIGHT
We use dierent techniques to save weightin our rames. Having a clean internal rametube is an essential part o the process as ithelps to reduce weight as well as allowing amore dense and strong carbon layup. oamcores are used during rame construction as
a mold allowing the woven carbon layersto be layedup creating the structuralintegrity o the rame.The carbon is wrappedaround the oam cores which eliminates thepossibility o internal wrinles within thetube. Once the carbon is cured we careullyremove the core.leaving a clean and emptyrame. Ecess carbon material and the useo heavier alloy materials is avoided byutilizing a hollow carbon shell in the bottom
bracet junction o the rame. At both sideso the bottom bracet shell we use bondedcups instead o a ull alloy bottom bracettube. This enables us to reduce the weightby 100g.
RIDLEY CARBON IBER
Our carbon rames require more than 100dierent carbon ber materials. Every layero carbon requires the eact strength andstiness with dierent layups in dierentrame locations. We use the nowledge andeperience o our engineers to determine the
correct layup schedule o the carbon layersin order to obtain the best result. Our tonrating is very simple it simply reers to thestrength rating, or tensile modulus o thecarbon. The higher the rating, the strongerthe carbon, thus less material is required.Our ton ratings are 50, 40, 30 and 24ton highmodulus carbon ber. However, each type ocarbon has distinct characteristics : we usethe type o carbon best suited or the location
and ride characteristics o each rame.

We entered the universe o cycling as painters, and it remains a coretechnology at Ridley. We are still painting our rames here in Belgiumwhere we relentlessly wor to improve the luster and durability o ourrame nishes. With our patented Surace technology, we integratedthe painting process with aerodynamics, applying tetured coatings oney areas o rame tubes to control air ow.
Our commitment to a proessional quality nish goes deep belowthe surace o our rames. We have invested heavily to reduce theenvironmental impact o our processes to awardwinning levels.Powder coating, used or our aluminum and aluminum carbon rames,has the smallest ecological impact o all painting systems, and we gourther by directly recovering 98percent o the overspray, and thenltering the remaining 2percent rom the atmosphere. During winter,we recover the ltered air rom the painting booths to heat the actory.Carbon rames, which cannot withstand the elevated temperature othe powder coat process, are painted with a solventree, waterbased

FROM EXPEDITION TO ZERO-EMISSION EXHIBITION:
Ridley is partnering this artistic project aimed at raising
public awareness of the consequences of climate change.
In practical terms, (Ant)Arctic Matters consists of twelvecontainers (each 12 metres long) which have been
converted by various Belgian artists to create a travelling
exhibition on the theme of climate change.
The exhibition set out from Bruges at the end of 2009 for
a three-year trip around the world on board cargo ships.
In the energy container Ridley will provide several types
of bicycles with which will generate electricity through a
human power. Using pedal power to generate electricity
is a very effective and creative way to draw people into
understanding the power of power. Information and visual

Yet in this eld, most owhat can be done has been done: reducing bie weight evenurther would endanger a riders saety. Thats why UCIrulesstate that the weight o a proessional racing bie has to be atleast 6,8 g. So as the weight o a bie has been netuned to
its ullest potential, the bie industry had to loo elsewhere toimprove bie perormance.
The stiness o a bie maybe? Also in this case: what could bedone, has been done. Maing bies even stier would maethem totally uncomortable to ride and very hard or the ridersbody to handle.
So or us the most important eature is the speed o the bie.Our goal has always been and still is to develop the astest biein the world. The aerodynamics o a bie have a huge impact onthe speed a rider can obtain on his bie! ortunately, contrary
to stiness and weight, the eld o aerodynamics still oersan enormous range o possibilities or improvement.

Thats why aerodynamics have been Ridleys point o ocusduring the past 6 years. In 2006 we started developing ouraero range, which was launched in the Tour de rance o 2008.

SHAPING THE FUTURE BY STARTING WHERE THE OTHERS STOP
Our starting point: a perectly streamlined bie, optimized on stiness.
With this perectly streamlined bie in hand, our engineers started looing or the real problems causing drag,the natural resistance orce that is restraining orward progress when cycling. I you are riding solo, you spendabout 70% o your energy overcoming this resistance!
When testing our products in the windtunnel, our engineers discovered 3 major issues increasing drag. In orderto mae the bicycle aster we had to wor on these issues.

Windtunnel Test results:
We started our windtunnel test with standing wheels. Then we saw that the best competitor or had less drag than ourSplitor. Obviously such a test is NonSignicant, because when you ride a bie the wheels are always turning. So weperormed a second test with the wheels turning:
inal conclusion:
Drag is increasingly lower on the Splitor as wheel speed is increased. The Splitor has 7.44 % less drag then thecompetitor or used in this test. The data shows the Ridley Splitor outperormed the competitor's ors.
Most turbulence created by the bie is causedby the wheels (and spoes). At the top o thewheels the spoes are moving orward whilecolliding with the rontal wind. This causes a
major turbulence, creating drag and slowingdown the bie. With our splitor we guide theincoming rontal air away rom the spoesand create in this manner an airstream, awayrom the wheels. In this way, we reduce theinteraction o the airstream with the spoeswhich results in reduced turbulence and drag.

There is o course no doubt about thenecessity o a brae on a bie! But thisbrae, lie other bie components, createsturbulence and causes drag, restraining thespeed a bie can obtain. Thats why it has beenone o the main goals o bie manuacturersto integrate the braes as much as possible.
Until now, many eorts have been made,yet no one was able to truly integrate the
brae into rame and or. ollowing yearso indepth testing, we thereore starteddeveloping our own braes and integratedthese into the rame and or itsel.
The result: the rst real integrated brae.This innovative setup results in less dragand cleaner lines: a aster, sleeer and bettersolution.
In other words: the rst brake in the worldwhich makes you aster!
I you see the picture o this unique braesystem theres no need to tell the aerodynamicadvantage o this brae. Normal braes,which are obvious undesirable obstaclesin the airstream, create turbulence whilethe position and shape o our speed braesreduces the air resistance to a very minimum.

ollowing tests are perormed on a closed trac, so we can compare our windtunnel test result to a"riding" test. The rider eeps a constant speed and we measure the Watts needed to reach the speed,as well as the heart rate.
Conclusion:
On the Ridley Noah you need to pedal 14,11 Watt less than on a normal road bie to reach a speedo 40 m/h. Beside your heart beat goes down by 2,49% which was between 3 and 4 bpm or ourproessional testrider.

Our integrated brake (F-Brake) has 5 major advantages:
Better aerodynamics:
The head tube in the ront o the bie is in direct contact with the rontal wind, without a majorcaliper in the ront which acts lie an obstacle and causes turbulence.
The turbulence caused by the integrated brae arms is minimal because o the aerodynamicshape and the position behind the or crown.
The proven advantage o the Splitor increases, due to the act that the split section inthe or can be increased in length rom drop out to the or crown.
Saving weight: the average highend alloy brae caliper weighs about 300gr. The Brae on thecontrary is carbon and part o the rame/or.
Better braing perormance: the brae is part o the rame structure, and not a caliper bolted on aor. Two parts bolted together always have minimal movement. Our integrated brae has virtuallyno movement and thereore very consistent in brae power without losing movement power.

The rontal wind has to pass around the tubes o the bie,and has to change its direction to ollow the prole o thebie. To mae it easier or the airstream to ollow the prole
o the bie and stay close to the bie, the tubes are designedin a droplet shape.
However, even then it's not possible to eep the airstream intouch with the rame at every location. At sudden locationsthe airstream releases the rame, creating a wae on theselocations which increases the drag. Thereore we did etensive wind tunnel testing and used oil mapping technology tolocate the places where the wind releases the rame. To avoidthe airstream releasing rom the rame on these locations, we
apply a structure surace on well dened locations in ordereep to the wind close to the rame. Which in its turn, reducesdrag. Once again optimizing the speed a bie can obtain
