And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” What great trust he has in us to continue to follow him, while not being able to physically see him in our midst. MAKE

DISCIPLES of all nations…”

www.presentationofmary.org May 24, 2020 | The Ascension of the Lord

We celebrate Ascension Sunday this weekend, normally

held on the Thursday of the Sixth Week of Easter. This day

is often times confused with the Assumption, where our

Blessed Mother’s body and soul is taken into heaven by her

Son, thus “assumed”. However, on the Ascension, as Jesus

is God, we see that he goes up or “ascends” by his own

power into his Father’s Kingdom, not relying on another.

Thus, the importance of understanding the distinction

between those two words.

Silly how we rejoice that Jesus goes to heaven, don’t you

think? Wouldn’t it have been better that he just stayed here

with us instead, to continue to walk among us teaching and

touching us with his own voice and hands?

Yes, that would’ve been great, but then it’d be hard for us

to really have faith in the words that he shared with us and

also imparts on us as he prepares to go back. Remember

how he tells us that he has to go ahead of us to prepare a

place for us in his Father’s home? And that unless he goes,

the Advocate (Holy Spirit) will not come? So it was

necessary that he go, so that we would believe in all the

things he said. It should also remind us of the trust he has

placed on us to continue to follow his words and example:

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father,

and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.

And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

What great trust he has in us to continue to follow him,

while not being able to physically see him in our midst.

If you missed my letter earlier this week sent by email, I

want to share with you some important transitions taking

place this summer as well.

As the school year comes to a close on May 29, our dear Co

-Principals, Mary Kane and Gary Faust, will also be

preparing to take their leave. I thank God for their

leadership and the support our staff, children and families

received through them as we navigated through this

pandemic these last couple of months. They have been

such a great blessing to our community and to myself. A

new principal has been named and will continue to lead our

school and families in excellence.

Lastly, I also mentioned earlier

this week that I have been

appointed as Pastor of our parish

and Canonical Administrator to

our school, effective July 1. Come

rain or shine, we’ll continue our

journey following Christ together!

Mutual prayers!

Mary, Mother of the Church, pray

for us!

Anointing Corps The Archdiocese has assembled a

team of priests whose role is to Anoint COVID-19

patients. If you would like to help this team: Text

‘archspm-anointing‘ to 55321 or sign up here to receive

a text each time an Anointing Corps priest is dispatched

to administer the sacrament.

Upon receipt of the text, take a moment to pray:

One Our Father for the patient who is in danger of

death, as they prepare to meet our Heavenly Father

face-to-face; One Hail Mary for the patient’s family and

friends, asking the Blessed Mother, Our Lady of

Sorrows, to intercede to comfort them; and One Glory

Be in thanksgiving for the priest and for his protection,

as well as the medical team attending to the patient.

Last week, one of our

young students, Noah,

asked family and friends

to donate to our local

food pantry. Over $400

What a beautiful soul!

Thank you!!!

Amidst this pandemic, I continue to be edified by the generous
