Ensure that all safety information, warnings, andinstructions are read and understood before anyoperation or any maintenance procedures areperformed.
The user is responsible for the performance ofmaintenance, including all adjustments, the use ofproper lubricants, fluids, filters, and the replacementof components due to normal wear and aging. Failureto adhere to proper maintenance intervals andprocedures may result in diminished performance ofthe product and/or accelerated wear of components.
Use mileage, fuel consumption, service hours, orcalendar time, WHICH EVER OCCURS FIRST,in order to determine the maintenance intervals.Products that operate in severe operating conditionsmay require more frequent maintenance.
Note: Before each consecutive interval is performed,all maintenance from the previous interval must beperformed.

Apply lubricant to the following grease fittings:
• the head end of the boom cylinder (1)
• the head end of the stick cylinder (2)
• the rod end of the stick cylinder (3)
• the head end of the bucket cylinder(4)
• the rod end of the boom cylinder(5)
• the boom pivot (6)
• the pivot pins (7)
• the rod end of the bucket cylinder (8)
• the bucket pin (9)
• the swing cylinders (10)
• the swing frame pin(11)
• the stick pivot pin (12)
• the notches on the console lock (13)

Personal injury or death can result from bucketfalling.
Block the bucket before changing bucket cuttingedges.
1. Raise the bucket. Place a block under the bucket.
2. Lower the bucket to the blocking.
Do not block up the bucket too high. Block upthe bucket so that the bucket is high enough toremove the cutting edges and the end bits.
3. Remove the bolts for the bucket teeth and removethe teeth.
4. Clean the contact surfaces and install new teeth.
5. Install the bolts. Tighten the bolts to the specifiedtorque. Refer to Operation and MaintenanceManual, “Torques for Ground Engaging ToolBolts”.
6. Remove any worn cutting edge and replace thecutting edge.
7. Raise the bucket. Remove the blocks.
8. Lower the bucket to the ground.
9. After a few hours of operation, check the bolts forproper torque.

Two Locking Pins

1. Remove the lock assembly on the left side andthe right side from the quick coupler by removingthe bolts (1).
2. Clean the pin (2) that is part of each lock assembly.
3. Clean out the bore (3) on either side of the coupler.
4. Apply grease to both pins (2).
5. Insert the lock assembly into the left hand sidebore (4) and then finger tighten the bolt (1).
6. Insert the lock assembly into the right hand sidebore (3) and then finger tighten the bolt (1).
7. Secure the lock assemblies in the retractedpositions.
8. Tighten the bolts (1).

Quick Coupler - Lubricate
One Locking Pin

1. Remove the pin (1) on the left side of the quickcoupler.
2. Remove the safety pin (2) from the right side ofthe quick coupler.
3. Clean the safety pin (2).
4. Clean out the bore (3) on either side of the coupler.
5. Apply grease to the safety pin (2).
Refer to Special Publication, SEBU6250,“Caterpillar Machine Fliud Recommendations” formore information about the selection of grease.
6. Insert the safety pin (2) into the bore on the rightside (3).
7. Insert the pin (1) into the safety pin on the left sideof the quick coupler.

1. Lower all work tools to the ground.
2. Wipe off the fitting before you lubricate the fitting.

3. Apply grease to the fitting for the quick coupler.

4. Apply grease to the external surface of the pin inthe lock assembly.
