doing for the Shasta Historical Society per BLM’s request, to research unknown mines in Shasta County.

Dear Members and Friends,

I hope many took the opportunity to get out and about

either prospecting or metal detecting. Please bring

your “finds” to the May 18 meeting. You can partici-

pate in the “find of the month contest” or just share

your experience in the “Show and Tell segment of the

meeting. We love to hear about your experiences with

the hunts.

Congratulations to Jim Stevens as the interim SMPA

Director to take Dan Colliers place. Dan recently re-

signed due to new family responsibilities. Thank you

again Dan for all your good works.

Congrats to Bill Schumpert for receiving the award for

Miner of the Month in May. It is always appreciated

when you help with setting up the meeting place.

Thank You.

We have a great meeting planned for on May 18. An-

nouncement will be made about upcoming exciting

metal detecting hunts and prospecting outings. People

are reporting flood gold finds. Be sure to read articles

in newsletters. See you at the meeting. Diana

PLP 2017 March Newsletter

Happy Flood Gold Season After the heavy rains in the west, this summer promises to be one of the best mining seasons for small

scale miners in many a year! Here we are on the verge of a great new mining season, and there is still legal work to be done in San Bernardino with the California dredging cases we have been plaintiffs in against the state of California for nearly a decade now. We are never giving up until miners are back in the water! We are proud to stand with Minerals and Mining Advisory Council (MMAC) to get new legislation in place that

will put more teeth in the 1872 Mining Law for the miners. To that end, MMAC has been working hard, meeting with many movers and shakers in Washington DC for a week in February and another week in

March. That is very important work which when completed, will benefit all miners, mining districts, mining companies and of course, all of America.

You can read the whole story by clicking HERE.

Everyone likes a little good news, right? The tide is turning… these California miners just won a HUGE case

against Sacramento County, CA. Over $100 Million awarded! That decision should give the scheming

thieves a reason to think twice before they roll any more miners! Read the Sacramento Bee article HERE.

PLP has been very busy working for our membership, not only supporting the work MMAC is doing on be-

half of us all, keeping the dredging cases up, paying ongoing bills, speaking and raising funds at a great Gold

Show in Quartzsite Arizona a few weeks ago. We wish to thank the sponsors of that show (including Richard

Trusty),and say a hearty “Thank you!” to everyone for such a warm welcome by vendors and the public

alike. We continue to be busy educating and helping miners with various issues around the country. We

are working tirelessly to make PLP great again, putting the miners donations back to work that were frozen

as a result of nefarious actions on the part of former (resigned), board members and others. To that end,

PLP recently filed legal action against Pat Keene, Ray Kender, Barry Wetherby, Dwayne Platz, Mitchell Noble

and Does 1-50. You can read the entire complaint HERE. As you know, it takes all of us doing a little to ac-

complish a lot! You can do your part to help us Take It Back And Keep It by renewing your supporting PLP

membership, and if you are able, make a donation above your normal membership to help us make the ex-

tra push to support the Mining District revival. The power of the mining districts is truly beginning to be re-

alized in Congress. Let’s pull together and show the politicians we are united in our cause! You can find out

more about it here: www.mmacusa.org We are continuing to fight for miner’s rights, and until next time,

Let’s Keep Taking it Back while we Make Mining and Multiple Use Public Land Great Again! Ron Kliewer,

President

Hello Fellow Miners,

I would like to send my condolences to the family of Eve Rising. She was a very special

lady, very knowledgeable in both mining and metal detecting. She will be missed by all

who know her and certainly never forgotten.

Get well wishes to all who are or have been ill recently: Lorin Fleming, Larry Bogges,

Ed Thurston, Nancy Huff and all the ones I am unaware of.

The Shasta District Fair is coming up fast! If you can or would like to volunteer time

please call Jim Stevens (530) 347-1679 or catch him at the May 18th meeting.

I hope to see everybody at the May 18th meeting. Happy Hunting

Donna Davis , Vice President, SMPA

Hello Fellow Miners: This is going to be the best year ever for mining for GOLD

It's starting to get hot out there! This is going to be the best year ever for mining for GOLD. I've been talking with folks and they have been sharing their finds with me. Wow, some of the gold is very nice. There's some pretty nice stuff be-ing found! This will also be the year that the little power people will inflict their will upon us, in the form of more regu-lations! I wonder what shall become of them? Maybe the Feds will step up and say no no no not on Public Federal Lands! Our last outing was really good even though only one person was brave enough to raise their hand when I asked who was going to the outing. Well, 5 new prospector's showed at the outing to give Russ Kallem a hand with his gravity dredge and was able to see first hand one of these so simple devices in action. They had plenty of questions and he tried to answer them the best he could. We should have a pretty good outing in May! I hope some of you show up and join us at the upcoming outings. I'll try to give at least a one hour class on something pertaining to mining panning, sluicing, or what you'd like to learn. The snakes are out and it's HOT! Watch where you step and bring lot's of water and sunblock and a hat! Claim's Chairman Michael Abernathy Remember to prospect in pairs!

April Metal Detecting Outing

I t was a beautiful day for the outing at Foothill High School, thus showing a turnout of 14 participants at the hunt. Those in at-

tendance were: Howard Waldron, Terry Wilson, Herman Fron, Mike Russell, Fred Furry, Ed Thurston, B. Van Wagner, Brandon

Van Wagoner, Wayne King, Diane E. Bouge, Lorin Fleming, Robert Graff, Dennis Paloma and me.

Those with detectors found lots of targets and recovered coins and jewelry, including 2 rings. Those new to the hobby, and with-

out detectors, learned some tips from the more experienced persons regarding the use of detectors and tips on recovering targets.

The finds of the day went to Robert Graff that found a beautiful sterling silver ring and to Loring Fleming that found a really nice

pendant.

Once again spring is here and the finds are getting better and better. See you on the next outing., Bill
