    Blessings,

Here is a timeless truth the churchcontinues to count on the generosity andcommitment of its members to make ministrypossible. The only way we can do all the

things that we do here at Woodmont is through each of ourgifts. Traditional worship, contemporary worship, smallgroups, music ministries, Bible study, pastoral care, Stephen'sministry, children's ministry, youth ministry, young adultministry, adult education, mission trips, outreach grants, Walkthru Bethlehem, Habitat Builds, Room In the Inn, NashvilleFood Project, Morgan Scott Project, building maintenance, heat and AC, electric bills, you name it we all play a role insupporting Woodmont. This summer, we will celebrate the70th birthday of our church. For generations now, thegenerosity of Woodmont members has moved our churchforward year after year. Our spring stewardship campaign"Generations of Generosity" is now under way and we willhave commitment Sunday on April 28th. I ask you to please

prayerfully consider making a financial commitment tosupport the mission and ministry of Woodmont in theupcoming year. We count on pledge commitments so that wecan plan our budget accordingly and responsibly. It is always

easy to sit back and say, "Somebody else will pay for Besides, other people have more money than me." Howevif everybody did that, where would the church be? Christians, we should take the words and teachings of Jeseriously and he had a lot to say about the subject of monand generosity and how it is tied to the spiritual life. In tSermon on the Mount he reminds us, "Where your treasis, there your heart will be also." (Matt 6:21). I am aencouraging you to join me in reading Adam Hamiltobook Enough: Discovering Joy Through Simplicity aGenerosity. We have copies available at SpireBooks you can download it for your kindle or ipad. Megan andgive sacrificially to this church because we beliewhole-heartedly in our mission and in what we are doing this corner and beyond. Woodmont changes lives every daPlease join me in helping support and move our chuforward.

Generations of Generosityby Rev. Clay Stauffer, Senior Minister

    Dear Woodmont Member,

The coming fiscal year represents the 70th Anniversary ofWoodmont Christian Church. We have enjoyed the good fortuneof growth in numbers and long-standing impact to ourcommunity. Thanks to each of you and those before us, wecontinue to grow in our mission and in our faith. We appreciateyour contribution of time, talent and treasure to our rich history. Our church family has been blessed over the years to supportministries and initiatives that make a critical difference inour community. In celebration of this milestone, the theme ofthe 2013-2014 Stewardship Campaign is "Generations ofGenerosity."

    Why make a commitment?

The programs, services and ministries of Woodmont can onlybe accomplished with the financial commitments of memberslike yourself. Each of these ministries requires financing andmust be planned in advance. The Finance Committee relies oncommitments from members to assess current programs and planfor the coming year. Ideally, every family unit is encouraged toparticipate in the campaign to help us accomplish our mission.

How do I pledge a commitment?

During the month of April, culminating with CommitmeSunday on April 28th, commitment cards will be collected the offering plate. A commitment card is enclosed and you cfind one in the pew pocket. Pledges can also be submittelectronically on the website www.woodmontchristian.org emailed to [email protected].

Matthew 6:21 says, "Where your treasure is, there your heawill be also." Since joining Woodmont several years ago, we'proudly participated in the Stewardship Campaign and glad

made our commitment this past week. Please join us committing to Woodmont and continuing the strong tradition generosity started 70 years ago. Feel free to contact either of or the church office with any questions regarding tCampaign.

    Blessings,

I read once that tears connect the bodywith the soul in a way few things can. I thinkthis is profound. Tears are the body's physical

response to emotion. Some people cry when they are happy, and others cry when they are sad. For both types of people, tears are a result of being overcome with emotion. Tears arenot something to be ashamed of, but instead they are a giftthat allows us to more fully experience our emotions.

I think at times tears, especially tears of sadness, allow to connect with God. When we feel broken, tears may be tonly thing we have left to give and serve as a prayer. Teare a beautiful expression of love, happiness, sorrow, apain. They are pure and innocent and help us to connect wwhat remains pure and innocent in each of us.

    ~Mary Clare

Tearsby Mary Clare Pyron, Parish Nurse

The Season of Lent, the Solemnity of HolyWeek and the Celebration of Easter Morningare now recent and beautiful memories. Icommend my spirited co-workers and this

committed congregation for coming together in so many

ways to open your hearts to the Power of the Resurrection! However, this is not the time to slip into spiritual indifference.Let us be reminded that Christ's Church was very muchfounded and premised upon the forty days following Easter

In Acts 1:3 Luke begins his account of the earliest daysof The Church by stating "He presented Himself to themand offered many convincing proofs that He was aliveappearing to them over a period of forty days." InI Corinthians 15 Paul tells us that the resurrected Jesusappeared to over 500 people in one setting. It is inconceivableto me that a movement as profound and long-lasting as

Christianity would have found its footing without the Realityof the Resurrection. Simply put, it was life-threatening to bean early believer, day in and day out, week-after-week,non-stop. Facing a sword, a spear, starvation, wild animals, fire, crucifixion and all manner of unspoken horrors, theymust have witnessed something extraordinary and thatsomething was a man that had defeated the grave.

Within such a dangerous environment it is logical that thissmall community of believers remained committed to oneanother. They met together daily to pray and share meals and

were careful to ensure that everyone was safe and had thbasic needs provided. Once again, Luke offers the conte"All believers were together and had everything in commo

They sold property and possessions to give to anyone whad need" (Acts 2:44-45). This is the humble beginning of t

faith that we continue to embrace so many centuries on.

We live in a very different world, of course. Drive dowany major thoroughfare in Nashville, with a church or two every corner, and it is abundantly clear that we are freeworship as we choose. But the fundamental practices of thearly church are still vitally important and it has been mobservation that we carry on those traditions exceedingly wat Woodmont: we come together regularly for prayer ameditation, share meals and do an excellent job of taking caof our own (and many beyond our immediate communitAmen!

As we each consider the commitment we can make Stewardship Sunday may The Lord open our eyes to tneeds within our walls, in our local community and across tglobe. Let us be generous with every kind of resource whave been given.
