All students are expected to wear full summer school uniform with black shoes, red hair accessories and definitely no jewellery. Children are to remain seated with their class, under the supervision of their teachers until the conclusion of the program when they are to be collected by their families.

The Breadwinner Year 6 has been studying the book The Breadwinner, by Deborah Ellis. This story focuses on the life of an eleven year old Afghan girl, Parvana, and her family during the time of Taliban occupation. As part of this unit students made naan bread, a staple food item in Parvana’s, and other Afghan families’ diets. The delicious smell of fresh baked bread wafted through the corridors as Year 6 enjoyed eating their naan with butter and jam!
Efraim kneads the naan dough, closely observed by Oscar.
Michala and Mackenzie enjoy their freshly baked naan.

A Touch of Art Students from Years 5 and 6 enjoyed a trip to the Goulburn Regional Art Gallery this week. Opinions on the wide range of artworks on display, as part of the Parliament of NSW Aboriginal Art Prize 2014, were varied as students discussed the use of different mediums, styles of art and the messages they convey. The sand art workshop with Mr. Peter Swain was both entertaining and productive with students creating individual Aboriginal inspired artworks. The use of different coloured sands from Australian deserts added individuality to each artwork.
Isaiah Druett, Regan Davis and Shay Smith were
happy to get their hands dirty.
Taiten Hill got some direction from Peter Swain.
Tyrell Brown, Tom Wilcox-Symons and Ben Flood enjoyed
being creative in the outdoor environment.
Year 6 students were proud of their creations.
