This week I ask that you continue to pray. Hurricane Irma has gone through Florida and Georgia, leaving in its wake a path of devastation and destruction. Many families have lost everything they own and I read this morning that it could be weeks before power is restored in many parts of Florida. People need our prayers in a time such as this. More than that they also need our hands and feet. The time will soon come when we are asked to work to help those in need. I know that when the time comes, our church will step up to the challenge. I know because I have already seen it take place in our community. I have heard from members of our own church who have experienced damage to their homes as a result of this storm. What I love about our church is that when a need arises, people will step up to the plate. This storm has been no exception. I want to thank our “Men on Mission” who, as I write this article, are out in our community doing the work of Jesus to help clean up and repair damages that were caused by the storm. Someone once told me that if you want to know what people really believe, don't ask them what they think, instead, watch how they live their lives. It is clear to me that many in our church have a deep love for God and each other. I am proud to be your pastor, Will

First Thoughts

Dear Church,

Last week, I asked you to pray for Houston and all those who were effected by the hurricane in Texas.

I am proud to be your pastor,

Will

Hurricane Relief EffortsKnow Someone Personally Who Needs Help?As we continue to seek ways to respond and support those effected by Hurricane Harvey & Hurricane Irma, we hope to offer an opportunity to travel and be “hands on.” In doing this, we are first seeking any personal connections we may have with family and friends who were impacted by these storms. If you have a family member or friend who has been effected by the storms and are seeking assistance, contact Jim Walls ([email protected]) or Allen Hardin ([email protected]) with contact information.

Want to Go With Us?Also, if you are interested in traveling to the impacted areas, please contact Jim or Allen and we will keep you posted as to the scheduling of any trips.

So For Now…Continue to pray for the people effected by the storms. Also, we suggest giving monetary donations. Local agencies can better evaluate needs and then have the funds to buy what is needed. You can go to our church website which provides links for ways to contribute through CBF or SBC organizations.

Security Reminder: On Sunday mornings, the parking lot doors to the Adult and Walton buildings are locked at 10 am. If you arrive after that time, please use the courtyard entrances to these buildings.
