First Thoughts

Dear Church,

There are two things I want to mention in this edition of First Thoughts.

First, if you have not signed up to have your photo taken for the directory, please make sure that you do so sometime this week! It is a wonderful gift to have a record of all the people who make up our church. An added bonus is that you can look back a few years later and laugh about the clothes that we thought were in style! As a matter of fact, I had a blast looking at the 1976 church directory. My personal favorite picture was of a dashing young man, David Keel. His light blue suit and mustache were absolutely perfect! Time has served you well, David.

Second, and on a more serious note, we need to be in prayer for those who are in the potential path of Hurricane Irma. This looks to be a devastatingly powerful storm. As a people of faith, we pray for safety and security for all those who are in harms way. I have seen and heard that many of you are opening your homes to friends and family who are evacuating Florida. It makes me proud to be your pastor!

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. I want to say thank you to Rodger Murchison, who was willing to step behind the pulpit and speak a word of Truth to us on Sunday morning. I am excited to hear what Rodger has to say, I know it’s going to be a great Sunday.

Grace and Peace, Will

Harvey Relief EffortsKnow Someone Personally Who Needs Help?As we continue to seek ways to respond and support those effected by Hurricane Harvey, we hope to offer an opportunity to travel to Texas and be “hands on.” In doing this, we are first seeking any personal connections we may have with family and friends who were impacted by the storm. If you have a family member or friend who has been effected by the storm and are seeking assistance, contact Jim Walls ([email protected]) or Allen Hardin ([email protected]) with contact information.

Want to Go With Us?Also, if you are interested in traveling to the impacted areas in Texas, please contact Jim or Allen and we will keep you posted as to the scheduling of any trips.

So For Now…Continue to pray for the people effected by the storms. Also, we suggest giving monetary donations. Local agencies can better evaluate needs and then have the funds to buy what is needed. You can go to our church website which provides links for ways to contribute through CBF or SBC organizations.
