Sip and Swipe Cafés
The Demmer is honored to be one of the Oneida County locations for Tablet
Learning expressly for older adults who are brand new to the world of the
Internet. This Program guides the new user through a series of hands-on,
interactive, step-by-step instructions to develop basic tablet skills, followed by
practice exercises for specific popular tablet functions.
The Program is limited to 4 people per session. A session will be two 2 hour
classes.

right now? Sarah McKenzie, the author of “The Read-aloud Family”
has a great website: readaloudrevival.com. While you can buy a
premium membership on the site, there are great reading lists for free as
well as links to her blog and podcasts. Her podcasts range from
interviewing authors to tips and tricks about reading aloud to your kids
and the connection it makes. In our children’s department you will find
a list we printed from her website of great read-aloud books. Grab one
and let us know what you think….

The building fund has transitioned to an ongoing support fund for the Demmer Library. The Three Lakes Public Library Foundation will continue to support the library with furnishings and incidentals, and wants to help support the programs that will make the most of our new space. Donations after 6/1/2019 will be applied to a general fund until a specific new project is identified in collaboration with the Demmer Board of Trustee’s strategic planning initiative.
The 501c(3) Three Lakes Public Library Foundation can accept cash, appreciated stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and IRA distributions.

When our strategic planning workgroup met in September, our immediate task wasn’t to start planning for the library’s future
– rather, it was to take a step back and look at the history of the library. Together our group picked out just a few of the
highlights from the Demmer (and the pre-Demmer, Three Lakes Community Library) history, starting all the way back with the
question of “how did Three Lakes get here anyway?”
And so, I present to you for your edification and enjoyment:
