Important AnnouncementAt United Community Credit Union, we look for ways to offer products and services that are beneficial to our members. There are obviously costs associated with these products, and we must weigh the costs against the benefits delivered to our members. As part of this analysis, it has been determined that individual account relationships must also be considered.
The regulatory burdens and market challenges for financial institutions continue to grow and, therefore, the cost of account maintenance has also grown. Carrying small balance accounts that have no other activity or account relationships is not cost justified when measured against our purpose of maximizing return to the general membership.
Effective August 31, 2011, any member having a share account balance of less than $100 and having no other account relationship with United Community Credit Union will be assessed a $5 monthly relationship fee.*
We value each member and are sincerely hopeful that everyone will bring their account balance up to the $100 minimum requirement or expand their product usage and thereby avoid the monthly fee. Having any one of the following UCCU products or services will enable members with share balances of less than $100 to avoid the monthly relationship fee: • Direct Deposit • Checking Account • MasterCard® Credit Card
• Certificate of Deposit • Individual Retirement Account • Any type of loan
For more information on the relationship fee, please contact a friendly member services representative at 713-674-5778.
*Members under the age of 18 are exempt from this fee.

Tips to Sell Your Home Faster Moving this summer? If you are gearing up to sell your house, you’re probably wishing for a fast and
painless process. One way of increasing your chances of a quick-sell is by sprucing the place up.
Even if you have a quirky or out-dated home, there are inexpensive steps you can take to increase its appeal. Take the time to create a more marketable home and you’ll soon have buyers running
for their checkbooks.
Finish the “to-do” list - Now is the time to start crossing items off of your “to-do” list. From scratched up walls to broken screens, if you notice problems, the buyer will too. Take a weekend to fix up the small things, and hire help with any major maintenance issues.
Pack up the clutter - If you have kids, pets or just a lot of stuff, put it all away! Clutter turns off house hunters; it is distracting and makes spaces seem smaller. Clear away stacks of paper,
unnecessary furniture and even clothes if you have the storage space.
Depersonalize - While you are clearing your home of clutter, put away anything personal as well. Replace photos with neutral art and place family heirlooms in storage. Personal items can make it difficult for potential buyers to picture themselves living in your house.
Clean like crazy - Invest in some supplies or hire a cleaning service to get your house looking spotless. A clean, tidy home that smells nice does wonders for house hunters. Buyers want to think that the house will always look this nice!
Increase your curb appeal - Spruce up the outside of your home with a coat of paint, landscaping or new lighting. Whatever small steps you can take to make the exterior more appealing will be well worth your efforts. Buyers won’t forget their first impression!
Stage your home - Whether you hire some help or stage yourself, rearranging furniture and decorations can make your house more attractive. Make each room feel light and open by taking out any unnecessary furniture and neatly organizing anything that must stay.
A few hours’ work can make all the difference to potential buyers! And remember, when you’re ready to buy a new home, United Community Credit Union is here to help with our convenient Member Home Loan service.
To contact a friendly mortgage specialist, simply call 832-912-2151 or click the Member Home Loan logo at www.unitedccu.com!
QUIZ for High School GradsNeeds & Wants – Do You Know the Difference?
With high school in the rearview mirror, many recent grads are looking to the road ahead. Come this fall, you’ll be out on your own for the first time. (Ah, sweet freedom!) But, with the high cost of tuition and living expenses, it’s important to be prepared. Learning how to spend and save responsibly is a rewarding and valuable lesson. Wise spenders don’t use all their money for “wants” before taking care of “needs.” To be wise spenders, we must first take care of important things, and then we can think about buying some fun extras.
Below, circle the things you think are “needs.” Get your parents in on it, and together, you can figure out smart priorities!
