Until Sat 2 November Kaffe Fassett Knitwear ExhibitionExquisite knitwear by the internationally renowned textile designer, Kaffe Fassett. An American born artist, he is best known for his colourful designs. This exhibition runs alongside an exhibition of his patchwork quilts at The Welsh Quilt Centre, Lampeter. www.welshquilts.com

Until Sat 9 November Brunel’s Works in WalesAn exhibition looking at the major rail, bridge and sea works built by the engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel in Wales. It concentrates on the ingenuity of Brunel in using engineering to overcome natural obstacles in transport systems.

Tues 12 November – Wed 15 JanuaryWales Colleges Competition ExhibitionA display of the work submitted for a competition, open to art, design, craft

and architecture students studying in Wales, on the theme of “Journeys”, inspired by the National Wool Museum, The Welsh Quilt Centre and Cardigan Castle.

Sat 23 November – Sat 1 February Fabulous Forty ExhibitionIn 2012 the National Slate Museum, Llanberis, celebrated its fortieth birthday. This exhibition looks at why and how a working industrial site became a museum in 1972 and what’s happened since.

WorkshopsFri 11, Fri 18 & Fri 25 October, 1pm – 4pm Make a Traditional Willow Basket

Make a country-style basket using local and Somerset willow. There are three half-day sessions, at £15 per session or £40 for all three. Complete a small fruit basket in two sessions or a shopping basket/berry picker in three sessions. Suitable for beginners. Booking essential: call 07964 530436.

Make a woolly hat or scarf from an old jumper and decorate using rag rug techniques. £30 per person. Booking essential: call 01974 282530.
