Welcome to the Winton 300! This will be the first time this event has been held in 20 years, and
we know your going to love it. The Winton 300 this year is being held in conjunction with the 3rd
and final round of the Victorian Motor Racing Championship, so you can expect a great weekend
of racing. The format of the Winton 300 will have qualifying and a Top 10 Shootout on the
Saturday, with the main race of 100 laps (300km) on the Sunday. Throughout the weekend, the
VMRC will showcase Super TT, BMW E30, and U2L Sports Sedans.
The Winton 300 is open for any sedan type race car and this year will see a number of different
makes and models of cars compete in the event. Over 60 drivers will line up to see who will be
the master of speed and consistency around the 3km circuit at Winton Raceway.
Be sure to keep up to date with all of our events by checking out the new Winton raceway
website at www.wintonraceway.com.au, where you will find information on our upcoming events
such as the HQ 4 Hour Enduro, our Club Sprints and Fun Days.
We hope you enjoy your weekend, and support the return of the Winton 300 for many more
years to come.

This is our new car built for Endurance Racing, it was not ready for the Wakefield
300 where we raced our old car, but last week at Wakefield after suffering a blow
out in qualifying and starting at the back of the pack, won its first race ever. We
still don’t quite understand how the 3 lead cars pitted accidentally on the last lap
letting us win, we think this car must be lucky. This is the first of the new NC
MX5’s we are building to try and start a new category next year, stay tuned. This
car makes 9 starters for the new category and counting.
Driven by Michael Hall professional weekend hack and Steven Head we think he
started racing before he could walk. First raced a Mini in the dirt at Amaroo Pack
too many years ago.

83 Sponsor: Slotshop/Ross Wood Electrical
Driver A: Roland Rohrle (NSW)
Driver B: Ross Wood (VIC)
Car: Mazda RX7 Black 1308cc (JDM)
Roland’s first drive in an endurance event was the Wakefield 300 co driving in the Parry Anastakis Peugeot 205GTi. Roland Rohrle & Ross Wood (who was drafted in for a last minute drive) in the 2009 Wakefield 300 finished 10th outright Slot Shop RX7 running a standard 12a motor. Roland then partnered with Michael Stahl in the 2010 Wakefield 300 driving the Slot Shop RX7, but resulted in a DNF with a broken throttle cable after struggling with gearbox problems all weekend. Ross Wood & Hayden Pullen paired up for the 2010 Wakefield 300 finishing 4th outright Donut King Commodore after a mismanaged pit stop robbed then of a good
chance of outright victory.
Roland and Ross once again paired up in the Slot Shop RX7 or the 2011 Wakefield
300 finishing 7th Outright and 2nd in Div 4.
Ross has extensive Winton experience finishing 4th in the 2009 VMRC as well as participating in a few 6 hour relays there and is a master at preserving the car for the dash to the finish. Roland has previously competed in a 2010 VMRC round at
Winton in both the wet and dry and is looking forward to racing there again.
The car is a 1981 Mazda RX7, OEm Nikki carbed 13b Extend Port, coupled to a
13bT 5 speed with minimal modifications on 13” Yokohama semi slicks.
Roland and Ross are both hoping for a top ten finish in the Winton 300 driving the

After being written off a Laser 4WD followed until it also met an untimely death. The Telstar has only been running for 6 months as Blair's IPRA car and is still on a standard motor, although
with a programmable computer and exhaust.
