On behalf of the Committee, Coaches and Players of Wishaw Wycombe Wanderers, I extend to you all a warm welcome to our Annual Sportsman’s Dinner for 2014. We are delighted to once again welcome John McKelvie as our Chairman for the night and also to welcome Duncan McKenzie and John Rowbotham as our guest speakers and I am sure that they will provide us with plenty of entertainment tonight. This year marks the 20th Anniversary of our Club and we continue to go from strength to strength. Last week’s presentation evening at Motherwell Civic Centre was a shining example of how our club continues to develop. Over 700 players, coaches and parents gathered to celebrate the club’s achievements over the last season. Campaign trophies were awarded to over 330 players, ranging from our youngest team, the 2009 Mini kickers, to our oldest, the 1994’s. It was also great for the whole club to witness our 1998 and 1999 teams being presented with their league winner’s trophies and medals on the night. Earlier in the year, the Club secured a deal with UhlSport for them to be our kit suppliers over the next three years. To coincide with our 20th anniversary, we have commissioned a special 20th anniversary badge which will adorn the new home kits being kindly donated by UhlSport for the upcoming season. Managing our resources well is extremely important for a club of our size. This season we will spend over £50,000 running our teams, including over £30,000 on the hire of halls and pitches for training and matches. In addition to this expenditure, individual teams have once again raised funds allowing them to attend a number of football tournaments over recent months, such as the 2003’s who took part in the Blackpool Easter tournament, the 2002’s who went to Minehead, and the 2001 team who recently re-turned from a very successful trip to Rotterdam. The Club manages to sustain this investment through collection of our weekly subscriptions, sponsors and fundraising events such as the Sportsman’s Dinner, Christmas raffle and our Soccer Skills event. The efforts of everyone involved in raising funds for the Club are truly appreciated. Finally, on behalf of the Club Committee I would like to thank all of the players, coaches, parents,
sponsors and other supporters who have been part of our success during our 20th Season.
