1993 COUNTY AGRICULTURAL COMMISSIONERS' DATA1993 COUNTY AGRICULTURAL COMMISSIONERS' DATA

This summary is based on the annual Crop Reports compiled by the California CountyAgricultural Commissioners. The annual Crop Reports provide the most detailed dataavailable on agricultural production by county.

Basic data collected by the Agricultural Commissioner and his or her staff are compiledfrom many sources. Sources vary from county to county. Examples of data sourcesinclude grower surveys, regulatory and inspection data, shipment data, industryassessments, etc.

The amount of detail varies by county. For instance, one county may list grapes only;another may show grapes by raisin, table, and wine; another may list a furtherbreakdown, such as canned, crushed, dried, fresh, and juice. The data were codedat the detail level.

Users are reminded that price data reflect the average price received by growersexcept for fresh market fruits and vegetables which are on a packed, ready to shipbasis (fob = free on board).

The sum of other counties included only those counties that provide the CaliforniaDepartment of Food and Agriculture a listing of commodities that cannot be publishedat the county level due to disclosure of confidential information. However, data canbe published when combined with other counties. Please be aware that the count isshown as one in all cases.

Humboldt County did not compile a 1993 Crop Report; therefore, the data are carriedforward from 1992. Lake County data for grapes and pears are from 1993, all othercommodities are carried forward from 1991.

Credit is due the County Agricultural Commissioners and their staffs for preparing theannual county Crop Reports upon which this compilation is based.
