In a civil war in Germany, Queen Lewis was forced to get away from Berlin with two princes .Suddenly the carriage broke down on the way.The queen and the princes had to get off. They found a lot of blue cornflowers on the roadside. The two princes were glad and they played in the cornflower bush. Queen Lewis wove a beautiful wreath with cornflowers and 9- year old William put it on his head . Many years later, William became the first emperor of the unified Germany. He was unable to forget seeing the blooming cornflowers in his childhood and the beautiful cornflower wreath his mother gave him when they were fleeing. He loved the blue cornflowers deeply.Therefore, cornflower has become the German national flower.
