Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble orhardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger orsword? Read Romans 37 -39.

It was August 11, 1989, and we had been blessed with the birth oour second child. There were a lot of complications that could havaffected the birth. My husband and l knew that God walked the dicult journey with us, and his everlasting love was shown throughthe birth of our perfect son. 

Immediately following David's birth, I developed complications thaled me to years of pain and uncertainty about the quality of myhealth. In 1992, we received the news that unless the cranial  pressure was reduced I would eventually not be able to walk. Chidren are God's most precious gift and I wanted to savor the joy ofall that motherhood had to offer for as long as I could.  Today, I still have days of struggle, and I rejoice in that. Even inpain I can feel God's love for I know that it is by the grace of Godthat I am walking. I thank God for allowing me to walk another dafor allowing me to serve him, but most of all thank him for allowinme to experience his abiding love. God's boundless love for me is

like the love I have for my children, a deep love that bubbles up inmy heart; but God's love is that multiplied by infinity. I live every dgiving of my time, gifts, and talents to glorify God and I give him tpraise for all that he has done in my life. I know that only throughhim all things are possible, and he has shown me 

that over and over again. 

Prayer: 0 Lord, may your purpose be fulfilled in my life today-to loyou Completely, to love myself correctly, and to love others com-passionately and live as you would like me to live. Amen

Most of the time, when we pray,we have ulterior motives. Wedesire something to go in ourfavor or align with our idea ofhow we think the outcomeshould be. We could not be fur-ther from the truth. I can recountso many occasions when Godhas done the complete oppositeof what I expected him to an-

swer. God's ways are definitely not my ways, and ulti-

mately, looking back, I am glad that he did not answer myprayers as I thought, because his ways were so muchbetter. I have learned that although it's perfectly accepta-ble to ask God for what I want, it is always better to say"thy will be done" and wait to see how he works. Accord-ing to Greg Laurie, a well-known evangelist, "As you getin sync with the will of God, you will see that prayer is notgetting God to do what you want him to do, but prayer isgetting you to do what God wants you to do." Think of allthe people God used to proclaim the coming of Christ.We have over three hundred and fifty prophecies aboutJesus, and in the New Testament there are only a fewwho recognized his coming, including John the Baptist.God was preparing his people throughout scripture for a

big change in the way they would worship Him; that wwas Jesus Christ: "Behold, I am doing a new thing; nosprings forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a waythe wilderness and rivers in the desert" (Isaiah 43:19).Imagine how difficult it was for the Jewish people, espcially the religious leaders, to abandon their way of woship for something so new and so different. It is onlythrough the power of the Holy Spirit that lives are transformed. As you pray this week, the Vision Team asksyou to consider these words from scripture: "I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of

God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy aacceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Dobe conformed to this world, but be transformed by therenewal of your mind, that by testing you may discernwhat is the will of God, what is good and acceptable aperfect" (Romans 12:1-2). During the listening sessions, many people shared a dsire to say The Lord's Prayer at every service. Jesustaught us to pray "thy will be done" and not my will bedone. My prayer is for God’s will to be accomplished oEarth as it is in Heaven for ESUMC. I pray you will mait yours as well. Children’s Ministry 

We here at Children’s Ministryare so glad to see the greatturnout of children for ourSonday Summer Seekers. Notonly from our church family, butmany visitors also. Our focusfor the rest of August will besetting a firm foundationthrough prayer, the Bible and

following in the footsteps of the disciples. Rememberthis is all done through a fun, relaxed and loving way.It’s never to late to join us, so please come on down.If not now, coming for the new school year we will beooking for many volunteers. If you can donate one

or two Sundays a year. That would be great. 

Also, something exciting for the holidays. We are

planning a bus trip to Koziars Christmas Village.

The OK’s are going to ShawneePlayhouse on Aug. 13 at 2 P.M. to see“Babes in Hollywood”.  This is the story oJudy Garland and Mickey Rooney.  Sounlike a play we might like.

 As it is a local activity, there will be notransportation and you have to get yourown ticket.  They will not hold seats unlethey are paid for and we didn’t haveenough people for group rate. They did sthey would try to save a section for us, syou want to go, ask to be seated with theESUMC group.  Tickets are $26.00.  If   ywant to go, call ASAP because they fill ufast in the summertime.

We will be leaving ESUMC at 2:45 p.m. andreturning 10:00. The cost will be $29.00 foradults, $27.00 for children. This price includround trip bus and admission. 

This is a walking event, with both inside andoutsidedisplays.
