The Trumpet Call
Pastor ’s Corner
Please remember that we have a major Sundaymorning schedule change this coming Sundaymorning, June 7. In order to have all of ourconfirmands confirmed at the same worshipservice, we will have two worship services thatday. The first will be at the normal time, 8:30 a.mWe will celebrate the Confirmation Class and youwill hear from the confirmands, but it will notinclude the service of confirmation. It will contain
the Service of Holy Communion as we normally celebrate it on the firstSunday of the month.
The second service will be at 10:00 a.m., and will last until about 11:30am, followed by a reception for our confirmands and their families. Thisservice will combine elements of both our 9:45 and 11:00 a.m. servicesand will also include the Service of Holy Communion. I’m sure you willmake every effort to be here to support our confirmands who haveworked hard since February, and please be in prayer for each of themas they make this major life commitment! On page 3 of this publication, you can read the names of the confirmands, who their mentors are,and what spiritual gifts they each possess.
This past Sunday, May 31, many of you heard our Lay Leader, MikeRagonese, address the congregation and let it know about listeningsessions to be offered to the whole church. The purpose of the listeningsessions is to gain valuable insight about how potential changes in ourSunday morning schedule will impact our current members, non-
members, and visitors from our community. These listening sessionsare vitally important as the Vision Team seeks to understand both thewill of the Lord and the guidance of God’s people.
You will be given a variety of ways to sign up for a listening session toattend, and even to have a one-on-one session with someone from theVision Team. A sub-team is also being developed made up of those onthe Vision Team as well as representatives from each of the currentSunday morning services to help prayerfully decide which direction we
will move.
If you attend a listening session, you can expect several guided ques-tions to be asked of the group, as well as time to express any areas thequestions do not address. Careful notes will be taken of all responsesfrom each group, but names will not be attached to any of thecomments written down. We expect that persons attending will offer fulrespect to everyone else attending, whether or not they agree withother points of view. We will offer multiple ways to sign up for thesesessions, so please listen carefully on Sunday morning as we sharehow the sign-up process will take place.
Blessings, Pastor Jim
