If people can gain a whole different perception of our church because of the enjoyme we re having out on the sidewalk and front lawn, then praise God for th Block Party! There have been so many people walk up to me and thank me for the Block Party and tell me what it means to them. Some have tried to give me money. The prayer tent has been active each week with people seeking prayer for their families. If you haven t been, we still have three Thursday nights remaining. Pastor ’s Corner

This week, I want to reflect on our youth-led BlockParties held (almost) everyThursday night in front oour church building on S. Courtland St. We were noable to have one on Thursday, July 9 because of rathe second we’ve had to cancel. We have yet to hava beautiful Thursday night weather -wise, but spiritshave been strong and upbeat, and even with a fewsprinkles and overcast skies, good moods and

attitudes have prevailed. The enjoyment has been shared both by thevolunteers and the guests who have shown up.

I believe those who have come as our guests from the community

represent a true cross-section of our community. We’ve had all ages,

ethnicities, and income levels represented. We’ve had a group of veryyoung children come by themselves, we’ve had older people with mobiproblems, and everyone in between. Some come because they need afree meal, and others desire to get out of their home for fellowshipopportunities and to meet new people.

Last week, I had a long conversation with a mother who told me about athe churches she’d been to which seemed to want to judge her and tellwhat she was doing wrong. She asked about our church and what shemight expect if she came on Sunday and brought her family. I was abletell her about some of the wonderful things our church offers, and she apeared genuinely interested. Children’s Ministry News

Sonday Summer Seekers

What is that?

You may have heard these words thissummer, but never really knew what theymeant. Well, in a nutshell, it simply

means Children’s Summer Sunday School. We are

exploring all the wonders and events that God hasgiven us to enjoy, with an emphasis on His Son. Thus far, we have learned about Flag Day, FathersDay and of course 4th of July, and the next fewweeks it will be sun or Son, sand & water. We arehaving a great time. If you have an idea, craft or wantto lend a helping hand, just come down to the lowerlevel of the church on a Sunday morning.Remember, children attend worship with their familyand are dismissed from there to meet a Children’sMinistry adult, waiting for them near the back pew. All children preschool age tthru 5th grade arewelcome to attend.

Vacation Bible School 2 15: Everest

Mount Everest Vacation Bible School took place on June29th- July 3rd. We were blessed to have 80 children filling ourchurch for the week. During Bible Expeditions the childrenlearned that God has the power to provide, comfort, heal, forgiveand love us forever. They learned great songs and did some ex-periments in Imagination Station. Children used their energy up

in Glacier Games, then re-plenished their energy witha delicious snack at Moun-tain Treats. KidVid wasanother station where kidswatched videos about realkids that rely on God as they overcome their obstacles in life.Kids then shared their own stories and then explored scriptureIf you didn’t attend as a participant or volunteer, then you missout on an awesome week of fun and fellowship with kids andadults! Our hope is that you will be able to join us next yearwhen we go on an underground adventure to explore the caveand learn about following Jesus who is the light of the world.

Thank You- Thank You!!

Many thanks go out to all the people who helped to make VBS a success this year. Thank you to everyone who donated items and snacks, prayed for VBS, and all the teachers, crew leaders and kitchenstaff who helped make Vacation Bible School a reality for all the children who came to us during theweek. Thank you so much and we hope to see you again next year when we explore the caves!

July Dollar Challenge

Clothing is July’s challenge, and will beused for UMW Ingathering. Most needed

are socks, underwear and baby clothes.

Place items in boxes in Oberholtzer Hall.

From ourVisionTeam

The Vision Team isdelighted to see that smany people havesigned up for the pray

vigil on Sunday, July12th. Yet we cannot help but think how much mopowerful our prayers woud be if even more peopsigned up to pray at the same time in the chapel According to God's word, "For where two or thregather in my name, there am I with them" (Matt18:20). Whenever we pray together, we experiena whole new dynamic of Christian fellowship, betruly united in spirit. God loves when his childrenare united in purpose. According to Elisabeth Ell"Prayer lays hold of God’s plan and becomes thlink between His will and its accomplishment onearth. Amazing things happen, and we are giventhe privilege of being the channels of the Holy

Spirit’s prayer." So if you haven't signed up yet, oyou feel led to sign up for more time, please join

as we set aside a special time to come into God'presence to ask for direction and that he leads uby and through his Spirit into his perfect will for ochurch. As you continue to pray for the VisionTeam this week, think upon these words fromscripture:

Therefore if you have any encouragement frobeing united with Christ, if any comfort from hislove, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if anytenderness and compassion, then make my joycomplete by being like-minded, having the samelove, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do

nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.Rather, in humility value others aboveyourselves, not looking to your own interests bueach of you to the interests of the others.

(Phil.2:1-4)

Without your prayers, then our plans are just plaand nothing more. There is nothing greater thanknowing and experiencing the effect that prayer on God's people as they seek to serve Him in evaspect of life, in even deeper and more profoundways. Thank you for your faithfulness to pray for as we seek God's direction for ESUMC.
