John Wesley made 21 trips to Ireland during his lifetime, and preached in 31 of 32 counties in Ireland He developed many friendships over the years and established Method societies wherever he went. Wesleys very last correspondence was dictated from his deathbed to a Methodist preacher in County Cork! Thanks to Wesleys perseverance in Ireland, The Methodist Church in Ireland  as it is called has more than 53,000 members serving in 212 churches all over country. August 16 will be an important day for our church.  The Vision Tea will be presenting the findings, the conclusions, and the outcome of the work of the Discernment Team to the entire congregation. I urge you to be here at Noon on August 16 to find out how God is moving us a new place of great opportunity to live out our vision of Growing, Con- necting, Serving, and Praising . We realize that some may not be there that day due to vacations or taking children back to school, so all in the congregation will receive written information which will be available by mail and on our website. From OurVision Team

Whether we want to admit it or not, taking a step offaith into unknown territory can be rather intimidatingand somewhat frightening. I try to imagine howsome of our biblical forerunners must have felt, es-pecially during a time when they were trusting Godon faith alone. They could look back and recount the

things that God had done,

trusting he would lead them inthe same way. Perhaps that iswhy Joshua was able to takethe leap of faith when crossingthe Jordan into the PromisedLand. The river was at floodwater stage, yet the priestsstepped out in faith with the

Arc of the Covenant onto dryland. The entire generation before them was gone, yet I am sure that Joshua remembered how Godparted the Red Sea when Moses led them out ofEgypt. But then again, maybe he contemplated the

words that God himself said to him: "Have I not comanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your Gwill be with you wherever you go" (Joshua 1:9). Soon we will be taking a step of faith into a new wof worship. As we venture into this unknown territothe Vision Team asks that you continue to pray fosmooth transition, and that the congregation will wcome these changes, trusting that they werewrought through careful consideration and prayer

As you pray this week, meditate on this passagefrom scripture: "Let me hear of your steadfast lovethe morning, for in you I put my trust. Teach me thway I should go, for to you I lift up my soul" (Psalm143:8).

I pray that with this step of faith, God will honor oucommitment to serving Him here at ESUMC, andthat like the Israelites, we will step forward and embrace that which God has given each of us to useHis glory and honor. Thank you for your faithfulne

UPDATE

Do you wonder what the term“Faith Promise” means? It is thterm used for ESUMC’s Missiooutreach of the entire congregation. There are quite a few grouand individuals as UMW, Cove

nant groups, VBS and Sunday School classes who suppocertainorganizations at different times through the year. However,

Faith Promise donates funds through the year to ten or tweorganizations committed to serving specific needs of theircommunity as an outreach of God’s love.

None of these funds are from the Church Budget. They arevoluntary contributions from you,the congregation. Thetreasurer keeps a separate fund and quarterly sends theportion promised to our Partner. The term Faith Promise ishow the team fulfills its task. By Faith, various possibilities aconsidered for support. By Faith, a budget is considered thawill be met. In faith, we all join in prayer and financial suppoThanks be to God that for the last few years the contributioto Faith Promise have fulfilled the promises made to ourPartners.
