Should the difference between the calendar dates from when a leg arrives minus the date when the last 24 hour rest period began exceeds 6 the crewmember is illegal.

Examples:The last 24 hour rest period began on day 2. Leg 1 ends on day 8.o 8 – 2 = 6 which is less than or equal to 6, so leg 1 is legal. o The full 24 hour rest is within the 7 day span.

Leg 2 ends on day 9.o 9 – 2 = 7 which is greater than 6, so leg 2 is illegal.o Only 20 hours of the last 24 hour rest falls within the 7 days span.

Leg 3 ends on day 9.o 9 – 2 = 7 which is greater than 6, so leg 2 is illegal.o Only 20 hours of the last 24 hour rest falls within the 7 days span.

With a standard FA crew complement, the max scheduled duty is 14:00, while with 2 extra FA’s the max scheduled duty is 18:00.

While with 2 extra FA’s the max scheduled duty is 18:00.

CASR 121.467(b)(3) and (8)Permitted Reduced Rest After a Duty Period

The Required Scheduled Rest after a duty period is permitted to be reduce.• The permitted reduced rest is in Table 1. • The reduction may be the result of unforeseen circumstances, but it may also be planned.• The rest for duties 14:00 and less, may have the 9:00 rest reduced to 8:00 under the

following conditions:o A compensatory rest following the next duty shall be not less than 10:00.o The compensatory rest period will begin within 24:00 of the start of the reduced rest

period.• The rest for duties 14:01 and greater, may have the 12:00 rest reduced to 10:00 under the

following conditions:o A compensatory rest following the next duty shall be not less than 14:00.o The compensatory rest period will begin within 24:00 of the start of the reduced rest

period. o The duty period following a reduced rest is not permitted to exceed 14:00.

It is not permitted to reduce a Compensatory Rest Period.

10:30 rest.• The actual duty ended 2:00 late ending at 20:00 on

day 1, the rest is reduced to 8:30.• A compensatory Rest period must now follow duty

2, that rest must be no less than 10:00• Duty 2 begins at 4:30 day 2, and must end by 20:00

on day 2, (15:30 duty) so that the compensatory rest will begin within the 24 hours of the start of the reduced rest.

Example #2:• Duty 1 was scheduled with 15:00 of duty and

13:30 rest.• The actual duty ended 2:00 late ending at 20:00

on day 1, the rest is reduced to 11:30.• A compensatory Rest period must now follow

duty 2, that rest must be no less than 14:00• Duty 2 begins at 7:30 day 2, and must end by

20:00 on day 2, (12:30 duty) so that the compensatory rest will begin within the 24 hours of the start of the reduced rest.
