Chatham Community
Chatham Borough and Chatham Township are located approximately 25 miles west of Manhattan in Morris County, New Jersey. The com-munities share a post office, library, and unwavering support for an ex-emplary public school district. Both municipalities have been featured in publications such as The New Y ork Times and New Jersey Monthly as highly desirable places to live.
School District of the Chathams The school district enrolls approximately 4,200 students in six school buildings, providing educational programming for students in grades pre-K through 12. Three of its six schools have been recognized as No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon Schools, and the district’s schools and students consistently garner state and regional recognitions in the academics, the arts, and athletics.
Chatham High School Chatham High School is accredited by the New Jersey Department of Education and is recognized local-ly and nationally as a premier education institution. New Jersey Monthly named Chatham High School the #1 high school in New Jersey in 2016 & 2014. In 2016, Newsweek ranked Chatham High School 40th nationally and #1 in NJ. U.S. News and World Report has awarded Chatham High School a gold medal yearly. In each of the past five years, over 98% of its graduates have gone on to attend institu-tions of higher education, with over 90% of all graduates furthering their education at four-year colleges or universities. Chatham High School offers a diverse curriculum designed to meet the academic and socio-emotional needs of all learners, and includes in its catalogue 30 Advanced Placement courses. The current enrollment at CHS is approximately 1,300 students.

GRADING AND POST-HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT
Chatham High School does not rank. For the purpose of GPA calculation, a weighting factor of .25 is applied to Honors and AP courses. Only courses taken at Chatham High School are included. Courses not taken at CHS during the time the student is enrolled are listed but not included in GPA calculation. CHS utilizes semester grading with each semester weighted at 50% of the final grade. As a result of Covid-19 remote learning began on March 16, 2020. Our prior experiences with digital instruction allowed instruction to continue as planned. The grades earned were based on performance and appropriate rigor. We have full confidence in the content delivered as well as the grades earned. For the purpose of college competitive categories, the tables below are based on the Barron’s Profile of American Colleges 2019.
