THE ENTRANCE RITE
The people standing, the Celebrant says
Blessed be God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
People And blessed be his kingdom, now and forever. Amen.
The Celebrant then continues There is one Body and one Spirit;
People There is one hope in God’s call to us;
Celebrant One Lord, one Faith, one Baptism;
People One God and Father of all.
THE COLLECT of the DAY
The Celebrant says to the people The Lord be with you.
People And also with you. Celebrant Let us pray.
Almighty God, you have knit together your elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of your Son
Christ our Lord: Give us grace so to follow your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those
ineffable joys that you have prepared for those who truly love you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the
Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting.
People Amen.
1 For all the saints, who from their labors rest,
who thee by faith before the world confessed,
thy Name, O Jesus, be forever blessed.
Alleluia, Alleluia!
2 Thou wast their rock, their fortress and their might;
thou, Lord, their Captain in the well-fought fight;
thou, in the darkness drear, the one true Light. Alleluia, Alleluia!
3 O may thy soldiers, faithful, true, and bold,
fight as the saints who nobly fought of old,
and win, with them, the victor's crown of gold.
Alleluia, Alleluia!
4 O blest communion, fellowship divine!
We feebly struggle, they in glory shine
yet all are one in thee, for all are thine. Alleluia, Alleluia!

THE WORD of GOD
THE LESSONS (Please be seated)
THE FIRST READING: (Wisdom of Solomon 3:1-9)
Reader A Reading From The Wisdom of Solomon
The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and no torment will ever touch them. In the eyes of the foolish they
seemed to have died, and their departure was thought to be a disaster, and their going from us to be their destruction; but
they are at peace. For though in the sight of others they were punished, their hope is full of immortality. Having been disci-
plined a little, they will receive great good, because God tested them and found them worthy of himself; like gold in the
furnace he tried them, and like a sacrificial burnt offering he accepted them. In the time of their visitation they will shine
forth, and will run like sparks through the stubble. They will govern nations and rule over peoples, and the Lord will reign
over them forever. Those who trust in him will understand truth, and the faithful will abide with him in love, because
grace and mercy are upon his holy ones, and he watches over his elect. After the reading, the Lay Reader says Here ends the reading.
PSALM 24 The congregation remains seated
THE EPISTLE: (Revelation 21:1-6a)
Reader A Reading From The Revelation to John
I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her hus-band. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them as their God; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them; he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away."
And the one who was seated on the throne said, "See, I am making all things new." Also he said, "Write this, for these
words are trustworthy and true." Then he said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the
end."
After the reading, the Lay Reader says
1 The earth is the LORD's and all that is in it, * the world and all who dwell therein.
2 For it is he who founded it upon the seas * and made it firm upon the rivers of the deep.
3 "Who can ascend the hill of the LORD? " * and who can stand in his holy place?"
4 "Those who have clean hands and a pure heart, * who have not pledged themselves to false-hood, nor sworn by what is a fraud.
5 They shall receive a blessing from the LORD * and a just reward from the God of their sal-vation."
6 Such is the generation of those who seek him, * of those who seek your face, O God of Ja-cob.
7 Lift up your heads, O gates; lift them high, O everlasting doors; * and the King of glory shall come in.
8 "Who is this King of glory?" * "The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle."
9 Lift up your heads, O gates; lift them high, O everlasting doors; * and the King of glory shall come in.
10 "Who is he, this King of glory?" * "The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory."
The Word of the Lord.
People Thanks be to God.
SEQUENCE HYMN (Congregation sings)
HYMN 293 (blue) I sing a song of the saints of God Grand Isle
THE GOSPEL (John 11:32-44) Then, all still standing, the Deacon reads the Gospel, first saying: The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to St. John
People Glory to you, Lord Christ.
When Mary came where Jesus was and saw him, she knelt at his feet and said to him, "Lord, if you had been here, my
brother would not have died." When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was greatly
disturbed in spirit and deeply moved. He said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to him, "Lord, come and see." Jesus
began to weep. So the Jews said, "See how he loved him!" But some of them said, "Could not he who opened the eyes of
the blind man have kept this man from dying?"
Then Jesus, again greatly disturbed, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. Jesus said, "Take away
the stone." Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, "Lord, already there is a stench because he has been dead four days." Jesus said to her, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?" So they took away the
stone. And Jesus looked upward and said, "Father, I thank you for having heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I
have said this for the sake of the crowd standing here, so that they may believe that you sent me." When he had said this,
he cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth,
and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."
After the reading, the Deacon says The Gospel of the Lord.
People Praise to you, Lord Christ.
1 I sing a song of the saints of God,
patient and brave and true,
who toiled and fought and lived and died
for the Lord they loved and knew.
And one was a doctor, and one was a queen,
and one was a shepherdess on the green:
they were all of them saints of God--and I mean, God helping, to be one too.
2 They loved their Lord so dear, so dear,
and his love made them strong;
and they followed the right, for Jesus' sake,
the whole of their good lives long.
And one was a soldier, and one was a priest,
and one was slain by a fierce wild beast:
and there's not any reason, no, not the least
why I shouldn't be one too.
3 They lived not only in ages past,
there are hundreds of thousands still;
the world is bright with the joyous saints who love to do Jesus' will.
You can meet them in school, or in lanes, or at sea,
in church, or in trains, or in shops, or at tea;
for the saints of God are just folk like me,
and I mean to be one too.

born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He de
scended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right
hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Celebrant Will you continue in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in the prayers?
People I will, with God's help.

People I will, with God's help.
Prayers for the Candidates
The Celebrant then says to the congregation
Let us now pray for August who is to receive the Sacrament of new birth.
A Person appointed leads the following petitions

People Lord, hear our prayer.

Then the Celebrant says
Grant, O Lord, that all who are baptized into the death of Jesus Christ your Son may live in the power of his resurrection
and look for him to come again in glory; who lives and reigns now and for ever. Amen.
THANKSGIVING OVER THE WATER
The Celebrant blesses the water, first saying
Celebrant: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
Celebrant: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People: It is right to give him thanks and praise.
The Celebrant continues
We thank you, Almighty God, for the gift of water. Over it the Holy Spirit moved in the beginning of creation. Through it
you led the children of Israel out of their bondage in Egypt into the land of promise. In it your Son Jesus received the bap-
tism of John and was anointed by the Holy Spirit as the Messiah, the Christ, to lead us, through his death and resurrec-tion, from the bondage of sin into everlasting life.
We thank you, Father, for the water of Baptism. In it we are buried with Christ in his death. By it we share in his resurrec-
tion. Through it we are reborn by the Holy Spirit. Therefore in joyful obedience to your Son, we bring into his fellowship
those who come to him in faith, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
At the following words, the Celebrant touches the water
Now sanctify this water, we pray you, by the power of your Holy Spirit, that those who here are cleansed from sin and born
again may continue for ever in the risen life of Jesus Christ our Savior. To him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, be all honor
and glory, now and for ever. Amen.
The Baptism
Each candidate is presented by name to the Celebrant, or to an assisting priest, who then immerses, or pours water upon, the candidate, saying
August, I baptize you in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Then the Celebrant or Priest places a hand on the person’s head, marking on the forehead the sign of the cross [using Chrism if desired] and saying to each one
August, you are sealed by the Holy Spirit in Baptism and marked as Christ’s own for ever. Amen.
When this action has been completed for all candidates, the Celebrant or Priest, at a place in full sight of the congregation, prays over them, saying
Let us pray.
Heavenly Father, we thank you that by water and the Holy Spirit you have bestowed upon these your servants the for-
giveness of sin, and have raised them to the new life of grace. Sustain them, O Lord, in your Holy Spirit. Give them an
inquiring and discerning heart, the courage to will and to persevere, a spirit to know and to love you, and the gift of joy
and wonder in all your works. Amen.
When all have been baptized, the Celebrant says
Let us welcome the newly baptized.
Celebrant and People
We receive you into the household of God. Confess the faith of Christ crucified, proclaim his resurrection, and share
with us in his eternal priesthood. newness of life, to the honor and glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
The Priest stands and says
Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all goodness,
and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life. Amen.
THE PEACE All stand.
The Celebrant says to the people
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
People And also with you.

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER A BCP p. 364
The people remain standing.
The Celebrant faces them and sings or says
The Lord be with you.
People And also with you. Celebrant Lift up your hearts.
People We lift them to the Lord. Celebrant Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People It is right to give him thanks and praise.
Then, facing the Holy Table, the Celebrant proceeds
It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven
and earth.
Here a Proper Preface is sung or said on all Sundays, and on other occasions as appointed.
Words: Walter Russell Bowie (1882-1969), alt.
Tune: Morning Song, melody att. Elkanah Kelsay Dare (1782-1826) CCLI License Number 1826146
1 O holy city, seen of John,
where Christ, the Lamb, doth reign,
within whose four-square walls shall come
no night, nor need, nor pain,
and where the tears wiped from eyes
that shall not weep again!
2 O shame to us who rest content
while lust and greed for gain
in street and shop and tenement
wring gold from human pain,
and bitter lips in blind despair
cry, “Christ hath died in vain!”
3 Give us, O God, the strength to build
the city that hath stood
too long a dream, whose laws are love,
whose crown is servanthood,
and where the sun that shineth
is God’s grace for human good.
4 Already in the mind of God
that city riseth fair:
lo, how its splendor challenges
the souls that greatly dare
yea, bids us seize the whole of life
and built its glory there.
Words: Thomas Ken (1637-1711)
Tune: Truro, melody from Psalmodia Evangelica, Part II, 1789; harm. Lowell Mason (1782-1872), alt. CCLI License Number 1826146
Praise God from whom all blessings flow,
Praise Him all creatures here below,
Praise him above ye heavenly host,
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven, who for ever
sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name:
Celebrant and People
THE SANCTUS BCP (red) p. 362
Hymnal (gray) 871
Holy, holy, holy, Lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
The people kneel.
Then the Celebrant continues
Holy and gracious Father: In your infinite love you made us for yourself, and, when we had fallen into sin and become sub-
ject to evil and death, you, in your mercy, sent Jesus Christ, your only and eternal Son, to share our human nature, to live
and die as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all.
He stretched out his arms upon the cross, and offered himself, in obedience to your will, a perfect sacrifice for the whole world.
At the following words concerning the bread, the Celebrant is to hold it, or to lay a hand upon it; and at the words concerning the cup, to hold or place a hand upon the cup and any other vessel containing wine to be consecrated. On the night he was handed over to suffering and death, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, "Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me."
After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, "Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me."
Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith:
Celebrant and People Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.
The Celebrant continues We celebrate the memorial of our redemption, O Father, in this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. Recalling his death, resurrection, and ascension, we offer you these gifts.
Sanctify them by your Holy Spirit to be for your people the Body and Blood of your Son, the holy food and drink of new
and unending life in him. Sanctify us also that we may faithfully receive this holy Sacrament, and serve you in unity, con-
stancy, and peace; and at the last day bring us with all your saints into the joy of your eternal kingdom.
All this we ask through your Son Jesus Christ: By him, and with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honor
and glory is yours, Almighty Father, now and for ever. AMEN.
And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to say,
People and Celebrant
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us
not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.
Amen.

HYMN 324 (blue) Let all mortal flesh keep silence Picardy
1 Let all mortal flesh keep silence,
and with fear and trembling stand;
ponder nothing earthly minded,
for with blessing in his hand
Christ our God to earth descendeth,
our full homage to demand.
2 King of kings, yet born of Mary, as of old on earth he stood,
Lord of lords, in human vesture,
in the Body and the Blood
he will give to all the faithful
his own self for heavenly food.
3 Rank on rank the host of heaven
spreads its vanguard on the way,
as the Light of Light descendeth
from the realms of endless day,
that the powers of hell may vanish
as the darkness clears away.
4 At his feet the six-winged seraph; cherubim, with sleepless eye
veil their faces to the Presence,
as with ceaseless voice they cry,
"Alleluia, alleluia!
Alleluia, Lord Most High!"

Prayer For Spiritual Communion at Home
Lord Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things and desire to receive you into my soul. As I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my heart. I embrace you, knowing that
you are already here, and unite myself wholly to you, secure that you will never let me go. Amen.
- Based on the prayer attributed to St. Alphonsus Liguori (1696-1787)
After Communion, the Celebrant says
Let us pray.
Celebrant and People
Eternal God, heavenly Father, you have graciously accepted us as living members of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ,
and you have fed us with spiritual food in the Sacrament of his Body and Blood. Send us now into the world in peace,
and grant us strength and courage to love and serve you with gladness and singleness of heart; through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
1 Come, risen Lord, and deign to be our guest;
nay, let us be thy guests; the feast is thine;
thyself at thine own board make manifest
in thine own Sacrament of Bread and Wine.
2 We meet, as in that upper room they met;
thou at the table, blessing, yet dost stand:
“This is my Body”; so thou givest yet: faith still receives that cup as from thy hand.
3 One body we, one Body who partake,
one Church united in communion blest;
one Name we bear, one Bread of life we break,
with all thy saints on earth and saints at rest.
4 One with each other, Lord, for one in thee,
who art one Savior and one living Head;
then open thou our eyes, that we may see; be known to us in breaking of the Bread.

1 This is my Father’s world,
And to my listening ears
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the speres.
This is my Father’s world:
I rest me in the thought}
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas; His hand the wonders wrought.
2 This is my Father’s world:
Oh, let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the Ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world;
The battle is not done;
Jesus who died shall be satisfied, And earth and heav’n be one.

HYMN IN PROCESSION (Congregation sings) HYMN 286 (blue) Who are these like stars appearing Zeuch mich, zeuch mich
POSTLUDE Tocatta on Picardy Gordon Youngs
1 Who are these like stars appearing,
these, before God's throne who stand?
Each a golden crown is wearing;
who are all this glorious band?
Alleluia! hark, they sing,
praising loud their heavenly King.
2 Who are these of dazzling brightness, these in God's own truth arrayed,
clad in robes of purest whiteness,
robes whose luster ne'er shall fade,
ne'er be touched by time's rude hand?
Whence comes all this glorious band?
3 These are they who have contended
for their Savior's honor long,
wrestling on till life was ended,
following not the sinful throng;
these, who well the fight sustained,
triumph through the Lamb have gained.
4 These are they whose hearts were riven,
sore with woe and anguish tried,
who in prayer full oft have striven
with the God they glorified; now, their painful conflict o'er,
God has bid them weep no more.
5 These, like priests, have watched and waited,
offering up to Christ their will,
soul and body consecrated,
day and night they serve him still.
Now in God's most holy place
blest they stand before his face.

Welcome Newcomers!
If you are with us for the first time (or the first time in a long
time), we are delighted that you are with us! As we continue
to return to normal after the COVID-19 Pandemic, we are
maintaining physical distancing for a little bit longer to en-
sure your safety. Meanwhile, please let us know you ’re here
and how we can help you. We want to be sure you feel at
home here at Christ Church.
Announcements
Updated COVID-19 Information - In view of the fact that
Allegheny County is now classified as having a HIGH transmis-
sion rate of the Delta strain of the virus, the Diocese has asked
all attending church in person to please return to masking
regardless of your vaccination status. This is for any indoor
activity whether it’s worship or a group gathering. This will
stay in effect until the Standing Committee and/or Bishop-elect
Solak indicate otherwise.

PLEASE HELP US PLAN FOR CHRISTMAS - Although we are a bit farther along through the pandemic than we were last year, we still
most proceed with caution as we approach this Christmas. We won’t be able to have the crowds from years past this year, but we
need help to determine how many services we need to plan for. So please, help us by answering a 4 question poll. Available in the
Link Tree below.
Shop ‘n’ Save Pray & Play - The "Pray and Play" program is available at these four SHOP 'N SAVE stores: 917 Butler
Street; Pines Plaza on Perry Highway; Rochester Road in Ross; Route 8 in Gibsonia. Twice a year they will forward 2%
of our grocery purchases in the form of Shop & Save gift cards. We can then use the cards to purchase items for the
various food pantries that we support. There is no cost to anyone and you will still receive your "pump perks" as nor-
mal. All you have to do is download the Shop 'n Save form (or scan the Linktree code below) which shows Christ
Church as the designated church. If you already have a Perks card, you just need to indicate your card number on the
form and then drop it off at your Shop 'n Save store. If you don't have a Perks card, you can register for one on this
form and your card will be linked to Christ Church.
