A SEASON OF HOPE

Today we can bask in the imagerythat the Mass readings offer us. Inparticular, Isaiah’s vision of a parchedland that blooms with abundant flowersholds a message for each of us. Toooften we are just like that parched land.We can allow ourselves to becomeabsorbed in the waves of consumerismthat grip so many. We look for fulfillmentin the things that money can buy.Unfortunately, this leaves us like parchedland, thirsting for something that money

can’t buy. This holy season has much to offer to quench our thirsts.In a word, this season offers hope. We are told that those who areransomed by God will know joy and gladness. For them, sorrow andmourning will be no more. Let us place our hope in these promises.

DON BOSCO YOUTH FESTThe OLGC Youth Ministry invites young people from 12years and older to the Don Bosco Youth Fest. This freeevent is on January 28, 2017 from 7 to 10 pm at theDBYC. It will be an amazing night filled with performingand visual arts, for the youth to showcase their talentsthrough different art forms. We call on all teens andyoung adults to perform a solo, duo or with a group. Ifyou have a band, bring them over to play Gospel music.Also, we would like to feature your “Do-It-Yourself”projects, arts and craft pieces, science experiments,design concepts, written works, proposals, or demos forexhibit.
