Japan- They recently had a massive earthquake and there could be aftershocks from the earthquake.

California- They are on an active fault line, and they have had massive earthquakes in the past.

Chile-They whole country runs along a fault line, the map shows that they are hundreds of earthquakes by this fault.

India-They have not had very many significant earthquakes but they is a convergent boundary along the northern edge of the country.

Islands north of Australia- They are sitting on a fault line that has had many earthquakes in the past and a few large earthquakes.

Middle East- They are sitting on a convergent fault that has lots of earthquakes a year. They have had some significant earthquakes in the past.

Southeastern Alaska-The southern part of Alaska is sitting on convergent boundary, this boundary has lots of earthquakes a year.

Haiti- They had a massive earthquake about a year ago. This earthquake has led people to believe that a similar earthquake may occur in the near future.

Western Asia-Japan recently had one of the largest earthquakes on record, western Asia may be at risk from aftershock.

Southern Mexico-They have been prone to earthquakes and in the last forty years they have had quite a few large earthquakes

I have learned that earthquakes are much more common than I used to think . I used to think that earthquakes only happened once in a while and that they are all large. But now I know that the are thousands a year and that we can’t feel most of them. I have learned that to predict earthquakes you must look at what has happened in the past and look to see what is the most likely in the future.

During this project I have learned that many factors affect earthquake prediction. There is how many happen in a given spot. The size of them. How many occur in certain time frame. Another factor is if the fault is active or not. These factors all help to predict earthquakes and take steps against them.

Lots of large earthquakes occur along the Eurasian fault and the South American fault. The South American Plate has tons of earthquakes a year. And the Eurasian fault is the fault that caused the Japan Earthquake.
