MYEULINK IMPORTANT DATES & ANNOUNCEMENTS MYEULINK PROJECT DEVELOPMENTS This project is funded by the European Union EU ACTIVE WEEKS For 2011 Colleagues, the highly anticipated EU ACTIVE WEEKs are back. Delighted to inform all of MYEULINK colleagues that we will be having series of scheduled Active Weeks at various academic venues such as UMS, UPM and UM starting from March 2011 stretching to April 2011. We will witness several European knowledge experts from Maastricht University, the Netherlands and The University of Nottingham, UK delivering lectures, sharing expertise and transferring their knowledge in European Union subject-related assigned disciplines. Our sincere gratitude to all six EU knowledge experts that will be visiting Malaysia to materialise the EU Active Weeks for 2011. A number of undergraduate and postgraduate students from all three MYEULINK partners’ public institutions including UM’s Faculty of Law, Department of International & Security Studies, UPM’s Faculty of Economic and Management, UMS’s School of Social Sciences will be the target audience for the knowledge transfer mission. The result of these knowledge transfer activities are expected to continue further after the Active Week is completed especially with the introduction of Problem-based Learning (PBL) methodology introduced by Maastricht University which for the first time will be explored during the Active Week of UPM hosted by Faculty of Economics & Management. Colleagues, the highly anticipated EU ACTIVE WEEKs are back.

2011 Call for proposals: EACEA/41/10

Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility programme in the field of higher education that aims to enhancethe quality of European higher education and to promote dialogue and understanding between people andcultures through cooperation with third countries. In addition, it contributes to the development of humanresources and the international cooperation capacity of Higher education institutions in third countries byincreasing mobility between the European Union and these countries. This Call for Proposal aims to supportprojects under all three Actions of the programme:

Deadline for submission of applications under all three Actions is by 29 April 2011

2. SWITCH Asia call for proposals 2010-2011

2 Types of actions

1) They should promote one or more sustainable consumption and production (SCP) practices (e.g. cleanerproduction, environmental management systems, greening supply chain, eco-labelling, etc.).2) They should employ a replication mechanism in order to actively engage a large number of SMEs in producingand consuming sustainably (e.g. develop/upgrade standards and certification schemes, set voluntary targets,strengthen SCP service providers, create market demand, engage policy-makers/financial institutions).

Besides Europe countries, MALAYSIA is one of the Eligible Countries that can apply for the call.

o Asia: Afganistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China (excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and Chinese Taipei),India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, DPR Korea, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka,Thailand and Vietnam.

In brief, Overall budget is €24 650 000• Co-financing:

o 80 % of the estimated total accepted costs (90% for least developed countries)o 20% of balance financed from the applicant's or partners' own resources

• Duration of the projects: 24 – 48 months• Grant amounts: min. €500 000 - max. €2 000 000

MYEULINK High Level Seminar - INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE / CALL FOR PAPER

Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS Malaysia), in collaboration with The University of NottinghamMalaysia Campus, CESICE and SFR Europe & International, in partnership with the MYEULINK Project, is organising aninternational conference entitled "Security at The Heart of the EU and ASEAN Relations" on 26 and 27 May 2011 atUNMC’s very own Kuala Lumpur Teaching Centre, Chulan Tower at Jalan Conlay.

The objective of the international conference is to study EU/ASEAN relationship through the lens of security. Duringthe conference, an extensive definition of security will be adopted including traditional security issues such asexternal and internal security, but also the non-traditional security issues.
