SCHOOL SKIP-OFF

During Term 3, all students had the opportunity to learn and develop skipping skills. This occurred during stage fitness sessions and throughout the playground with their friends. This practice was useful when all students and teachers participated in a Skip Off Day, on Thursday 22 September. Throughout the allocated time, students rotated in stage groups to four different skipping activities, these included; individual, partner, group and race skipping. The enthusiastic and energetic vibe was encouraging to see and continued on to the following day, where students during lunch and recess were practising the skills they had learnt from the Skip Off Day. Below are some comments from the children. It was great because I got to learn many different styles of skipping. My favourite style was the relay skipping – Vishesh I really liked having the opportunity to learn the different styles of skipping because I didn’t know them – Emily When I was skipping my heart was pumping really fast. This was really good as it will help to keep me healthy – Isabell Some of us got prizes at the end for super skipping and for having a go – Stephanie Although it was really tiring I tried really hard to keep going and practising. FROM THE PRINCIPAL WELCOME BACK I hope all of our families had an enjoyable break. Welcome back to the final term of the year. We welcome back Mr Alice onto 3A and thank Miss Moon for the wonderful job she did on the class. Likewise, we welcome back Mrs Rowsell and thank Mrs Brown for her work with the EAL/D Team. Once again I remind you to put the following dates into your diary, Presentation Day on Friday 02 December and for Year 5 and 6 parents Year 6 Farewell on Friday 09 December. MUSIC FESTIVAL TICKETS Just a reminder to our Year 4 and Concert Band parents that tickets for the Epping Music Festival go on sale today through Ticketek. Tickets will be in demand and will be sold on a first come basis. Purchase early or risk missing out. Information on purchasing tickets was sent home last term. Tickets can be best accessed by logging.onto

http://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/show.aspx?sh=musicfes15.

SCHOOL APP I was able to send a message on Friday to Year 4 parents reminding them about the sale of Music Festival Tickets. I encourage you to download the app and join the groups which are applicable to you. This term we will be running a trial sending out notifications of events and push alert reminders or messages. If you need more information, please refer to the information sheet in the newsletter. If you still have problems, please contact Miss Assad through the school office. It is still important that you check the newsletter and website calendar for events. NEW ASSEMBLY MEETING POINT As our school grows there will be a number of adjustments that will need to be made. We have now found our Assembly Meeting Area for Monday and Friday morning does not cater for all the students. From the beginning of Term 4 we will assemble in front of the computer lab. All students will stand.

THE PARTNERS IN LEARNING PARENT FEEDBACK SURVEY

As indicated last term, our school will be participating in the Partners in Learning parent survey, another part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys (student, teacher and parent surveys) on student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. I encourage you to complete the survey as the information is used by the school to direct future plans. The survey is conducted entirely online at home or on public computers. The survey will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. The parent survey will be conducted between 22 August and 21 October. Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary; however, your responses are very much appreciated. The link to the survey can be found below. I encourage you to participate in the survey. The link will also be placed on the website @ For Parents >TTFM Survey https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/s4psc SCHOOL UNIFORM Our weather has already started to heat up and so over the coming week we will move to our summer uniform. Please be aware that sometimes the weather is a little cooler in the morning and parents tend to overdress their child. My best advice is to check the weather forecast for the day and if you do put a jumper on your child remind them to remove it if the weather heats up and they begin to feel hot. During this time our office is often filled with sick children who have been running around on a hot day with their jumper on. I look forward to your support in this matter.

CO-ORDINATORS FOR FRENCH CLASSES FOR NEXT YEAR

EPS offers weekly French classes before school as an extra-curricular activity, available to Year 3 and up. We have great, qualified tutors from outside who teach French in a fun way. Parents pay $65 per term and it is subsidised by the P&C. Our current co-ordinators will be leaving the school community next year as their children move on to high school, so we are looking for volunteers (ideally at least 2) who may be interested in taking on this role. At the moment we have one person who handles registrations and one who handles finances. If you are interested in helping next year with any part of the co-ordination of French classes, we would be keen to have you involved as soon as possible to ensure a smooth hand-over. Please email [email protected] or ring Debbie Mullins on 0468 490 689 if you’d like to discuss the possibility of joining us
