How did you attract/address your audience?

How did you attract/address your audience?

Front CoverAt first, I wanted to make sure that the feature model was wearing clothing suitable for the urban genre. So the model on the front cover wore jeans, and a fashionable, recognisable jumper. Also with the use of the prop: headphones, this helped enhance my magazine being a representation of a music media product. My cover lines were very appealing for my target audience as they mentioned famous urban artists, which my target audience will know of and will want to find out more. My cover lines also use valid colloquial language in order to address my target audience in a familiar style, so that direct address is instantly made between my media product and my target audience. From my focus group feedback, my colour scheme is very appealing for my target audience.

Contents pageOn my Contents page the main feature model has dark lipstick and has also been effected with the grayscale colour tool from Photoshop in order to show consistency throughout my magazine with the colour scheme. I also used social media icons at the top of the page in order to show my target audience that my media product is up to date and they can also access the information from my media product online as well; showing cross-media convergence. My featuring articles addressed my audience in a familiar style of tone so that they wouldnt bore my target audience. All subjects of my articles were relevant for my target audience so that my consumers will be attracted enough by the information within, to purchase my media product. From my focus group feedback they all agreed that my contents page was clearly laid out, so that all the writing was legible. I also tried to stick to a grid format so that I was abiding by regulated codes and conventions of magazine.

Double Page SpreadTo create consistency and the sense of familiarity throughout my media product, I decided to make each page have a white mise-en-scene. Not only to create a house style but to also make my media product seem professional to my audience. My article had some form of informational language, however through the q&a section of my article I decided to use a conversational tone of voice throughout the latter so that my target audience would feel comfortable reading the article. I also wanted there to be equal proportions of text being integrated with images so that my double page spread would appeal to my target audience. The mise-en-scene of my second image on my double page spread would appeal to my target audience as well as it showed a music studio. This mise-en-scene accurately enhances my representation of my media product being a music magazine. As it features a setting where music is made. From my focus group feedback, they thought that without the mentions of music and the use of the prop of headphones that my magazie might be a fashion orientated media product. Which in one way is constructive criticism, however on the other hand, is very beneficial. This is because through my questionnaire from research and planning; fashion was a very important aspect for the Urban Genre. So therefore a very important aspect for my media product.
