DESCRIPTION

This was a spec that myself and Eugene Selassie wrote a little over a year ago for the Iron Man Armored Adventures Animated Series. Chris Yost who was show runner on the first season liked it but he had left the show. So he kicked it up to the second season show runner, but ultimately nothing came of it. Still it's awesome that an animated series show runner liked what I did. Also this spec isn't for sale and we are in no way trying to profit off of Marvel or their parent company Disney. This is just here for fun and curiosity.

FADE IN:

ACT ONE

EXT. SKIES OVER NEW YORK- DAY1 1

A LARGE GREEN METALLIC ARMOR, nearly 8 feet tall, floats in mid-air as its boot jets allow it to hover. It fires energy pulses at a building. This armor is an upgraded model of the TITANIUM MAN armor.

ZOOM OUT to a shot of the Stark International building.

EMPLOYEES look frightened as they see the attacker through their windows.

OBADIAH STANE looks upset at this development.

CUT:

INT. OBADIAH’S OFFICE2 2

MIKE O’BRIEN runs into the room. He has a SECURITY TEAM with him.

1. O’BRIEN:Sir, we need to get you to a secure location.

2. OBADIAH:What you need to do is get those security drones deployed. And get me some scans of that suit. I want to know how a Titanium Man armor got designed without my knowledge.

Obadiah sees something out of the corner of his eye. He turns and looks. Off in the distance, something rockets toward the green metallic armor.

IRON MAN’S boot jets propel him at full speed.

3. OBADIAH: On second thought--

Obadiah now has a sinister look on his face.

4. OBADIAH: Why waste money on destroyed drones. Let them beat each other to a pulp.

Page 3: Iron Man Spec Script

Obadiah folds his arms and watches the coming confrontation.

CUT:

EXT. SKIES OVER NEW YORK3 3

The green armor pauses. It knows someone approaches. Right before Iron Man can grab the armor it turns around, puts its hands up and swings, sending Iron Man careening.

PAN TO ground level.

We see a small object high in the sky. It gets closer and closer.

ZOOM in on object. We now see that it is IRON MAN. He has been knocked for a loop and is about to crash into a high rise.

Before Iron Man impacts, his boot jets stabilize him and he rights himself. He shakes his head, then looks upward.

As he does, the green armor flies downward a bit. It stops a few hundred feet above him.

5. IRON MAN:Whoa. That’s not a nice way of saying hello. Rhodey, have you been able to get a trajectory?

CUT:

INT. THE ARMORY4 4

JAMES “RHODEY” RHODES sits in the control module. He looks at a view screen and sees an infrared view of what Tony sees.

6. RHODEY:No go, Tony. This thing must have some sophisticated engines. Can’t track its com-trail to see where it came from.

BACK:

EXT. SKIES OVER NEW YORK5 5

Iron Man raises his hands to fire a double repulsor blast.

2.

Page 4: Iron Man Spec Script

7. IRON MAN:Well, wherever he came from, he tried to hurt innocents at Stark International and he tagged me first. So now, it’s my turn.

Tony fires his repulsors. They hit the green armor, but have no effect. The armor just sits there and hovers, almost mockingly.

Tony powers down his repulsors.

8. IRON MAN: Hmm. He’s tough. But maybe if I turn it up!

Tony quickly fires both repulsors again and his chest uni-beam. All hit the green armor. All still have no effect.

CUT:

INT. INSIDE OF THE IRON MAN ARMOR6 6

TONY STARK looks incredibly shocked.

9. TONY:Still nothing???!!!

10. COMPUTER:Target utilizing unknown refractory shielding.

11. TONY:Refractory?

BACK:

EXT. SKIES OVER NEW YORK7 7

A white shimmer emanates from the green armor. Suddenly, from its chest comes a high powered white energy beam. It bounced Iron Man’s own blasts back at him.

12. IRON MAN:Uh-oh.

Iron Man flies out of the way of the blast. A split-second later and it would have fried him. He then flies directly toward the armor, while he dodges more incoming energy pulses.

3.

Page 5: Iron Man Spec Script

13. RHODEY (O.S.):Okay, so this thing can absorb energy blasts. No more repulsors.

14. IRON MAN:I know. Time for the direct approach.

Iron Man flies right behind the green armor. As it turns around, Iron Man delivers a two handed blow that sends the armor flying downward.

Before it can gather its bearings, Iron Man flies at it and grabs it. He flies downward.

ZOOMING in to the ground, we see that they fly toward an old scrapyard near the waterfront.

The green armor fights Iron Man. They struggle. Suddenly the green armor has Iron Man by the throat. They struggle some more and now Iron Man has a sleeper hold on the armor.

SHOCKWAVE as they both hit the ground. Wreckage and debris from the scrapyard fly in every direction.

BIRD’S EYE VIEW of a crater. Both armored individuals lie there nearly lifeless.

15. RHODEY (O.S.):Tony, are you alright?

Suddenly, Iron Man shows life. He looks a bit woozy as he stands up.

16. RHODEY (O.S.): Tony???!!!

17. IRON MAN:I’m fine.

Iron Man looks over at the green armor. It is still lifeless.

Iron Man walks up to the armor. He goes to remove the helmet.

18. IRON MAN: Now, time to see who wanted to do Stark International in so--

As Iron Man removes the helmet, he notices that there is no one inside.

19. IRON MAN: There’s no pilot.

4.

Page 6: Iron Man Spec Script

20. RHODEY (O.S.):Must be a drone.

Iron Man’s computer speaks and leaves him in a panic.

21. COMPUTER:Warning, breach of enemy armor integrity has triggered its self-destruct protocols.

22. RHODEY (O.S.):Tony, get out of there!

Iron Man sees some workers in the scrapyard who look on. They are frozen with panic.

23. IRON MAN:No go!

Iron Man grabs the armor and hurls it out of the scrapyard and into the river.

Suddenly a powerful explosion occurs, sending a geyser of water shooting upward.

24. IRON MAN: Crisis averted.

Iron Man notices the helmet lying there. He picks it up off of the ground, then looks inside.

25. IRON MAN: No. No, no, no!

26. RHODEY (O.S.):What?

27. IRON MAN:I think someone has gotten hold of my technology.

CUT TO INTRO

INT. THE ARMORY- DAY8 8

Jim “Rhodey” Rhodes and PEPPER POTTS walk up to an electronic sliding doorway just outside the armory.

28. PEPPER:Totally sucks that your dad isn’t able to visit.

5.

Page 7: Iron Man Spec Script

29. RHODEY:It is what it is. You get used to it. My mom keeping me in the dark about it doesn’t help much.

30. PEPPER:So, after the military, he became a contractor? Wait. Idea. Maybe I can get my dad to uses his FBI connections to track him down? Maybe you could contact him?

31. RHODEY: Are you crazy? He works a lot of government black bag jobs, so they usually send him flying all over the place.

As they enter the armory, a folder full of documents goes flying across the room. This startles them both.

32. TONY (OFF-SCREEN):I can’t believe he pulled this crapagain!

Tony has a stapler in his hand, which he is about to throw.

33. PEPPER:Tony?

Rhodey grabs his arm and tries to calm him down.

34. RHODEY:Whoa! The stapler didn't do it, man.

Tony loosens his grip and calms down.

35. TONY:I'm fine Rhodey. I'm fine.

36. RHODEY:I know you and you don't look it. What’s this all about?

37. PEPPER:Yeah, totally not Mister calm and cool. What’s with the temper tantrum?

Tony and Rhodey walk over to Tony's desk. It's clear with a tint of blue to it. All over the desk are different numbers and keys, like a giant opaque keyboard.

6.

Page 8: Iron Man Spec Script

Tony taps a circular pad and a video starts to play on his computer monitor.

38. TONY:This.

Video footage of an advanced weapons testing demo plays on the screen.

39. TONY: Symkaria is looking to become a member nation of the U.N. Given some of the nations that border it, they contracted out for military hardware.

Tony slams his fist against the wall next to him.

40. TONY: Old man Stane decided to put Stark International in for the U.S. contract bid.

41. RHODEY:Still trying to use the Stark name to weasel his way back into weapons manufacturing. Pretty slimy bro.

42. TONY:Yeah, tell me ab--

Tony freezes as he looks at the footage.

43. TONY: You've gotta be kidding me!

44. PEPPER:What is that?

The footage shows a military complex in Symkaria. We see a tall man dressed in a Russian military uniform. He is retired COMMISSAR BORIS BULLSKI. He wears metal gloves, a mechanical chest pad, a headband and a visor, which are hard wired into a computer.

There is a young man named PAVEL BULLSKI, no older than fifteen, who operates the laptop next to Bullski. The computer gives orders to mechanical drones on the field.

45. TONY (O.S):Meet Ukrainian child prodigy Pavel Bullski. Met him once at a science expo in Prague. Kind of standoff-ish, but he’s good.

7.

Page 9: Iron Man Spec Script

46. TONY (O.S.):That’s his dad, Boris. He's operating a working model of a neuro-mnematic telepresence.

The drones dodge fire from automated turrets.

47. TONY (O.S.):Which is supposed to be a top-secret project.

As Boris moves his legs, the drones move out of the line of fire.

48. TONY (O.S.):It uses neural impulses to operate machinery at a safe distance from hazardous environments. Thing is, the circuitry still can’t tolerate extreme temperatures.

As Bullski points his fist out, the drones all fire their wrist mounted missiles at the turrets. They all explode.

49. PEPPER (O.S.):Howd'youknowsomuchaboutitifit'stopsecret?

The footage pauses. Both Tony and Rhodey turn and look at her.

50. RHODEY:So, you don’t remember all of the times that I’ve had to pilot the armor remotely for Tony?

Tony walks to the helmet left by the drone he fought earlier. He grabs it, reaches inside, and pulls out a component with wires hanging out.

Pepper looks happy because she finally gets it. Then her smile fades because she finally gets it.

51. PEPPER:Oh! It was your secret project.

52. TONY:Finally was able to get around Stane’s newest firewalls so I could get this footage from the testing site in Symkaria.

Tony has an angry look on his face.

8.

Page 10: Iron Man Spec Script

53. TONY: Pepper, I need you to find all the information you can on Bullski.

Pepper nods.

54. RHODEY:You think this is another Blizzard situation? Trying to get payback against Stane for, I don’t know, kicking his puppy or something?

Tony has a resolved demeanor.

55. TONY:I don’t know. But I’m going to find out.

Pepper looks at Tony, but Rhodey looks at something that Tony was designing. It is an armor. The early stages of a Mark II version of Iron Man’s hydro armor.

56. RHODEY:Hmmm.

CUT:

EXT. EUROPEAN MILITARY BASE- DAY9 9

CAPTION: SCHONSTADT, SYMKARIA.10 10

CHINESE DELEGATES and SCIENTISTS put forth their bid for the military contract.

A "GUNDAM" like battle armor, which is about thirty-five feet tall, fires its gauss cannon.

The blast takes out a half dozen automated drones.

CUT:

INT. MECH SUIT- DAY11 11

THE PILOT is slipped in like the pilot of a fighter jet, but his hands and feet are slipped into an apparatus that allow him access to all functions of the machine.

CUT:

9.

Page 11: Iron Man Spec Script

EXT. FRONT OF THE BASE- DAY12 12

Obadiah walks out with Stark International executives and scientists.

57. OBADIAH:Gentlemen, I believe once you see what Stark International has to offer with our advanced tech, you'll realize that there is only one name to trust when it comes to keeping your borders and your people safe.

He talks with the SYMKARIAN DELEGATE. Behind the crowd are two heavily armed versions of the Iron Monger armor.

58. SYMKARIAN DELEGATE:That may be all well and good Mister Stane, but we were under the impression that Stark International was not in the munitions business. And you must understand our concerns with the recent attack on the Stark corporate headquarters.

Obadiah stops and holds his hand out to shake the lead delegate's hand.

59. OBADIAH:About the S.I. portfolio, rumors. Nothing but rumors spread by our rivals in the hope that our market shares would take a hit. With the most recent events that have plagued S.I., I can understand the appeal of wanting to kick something while it's down.

The delegate shakes his hand.

60. OBADIAH: But, I can assure you this, Stark International is a name you can trust and respect; a name Symkaria will always value.

Obadiah uses his other hand to present the Iron Monger suits.

Off in the distance, Boris Bullski waits with his son. Boris gives an uneasy stare to Obadiah. Stane stares back with just as much animosity.

Obadiah then snaps his fingers.

10.

Page 12: Iron Man Spec Script

61. OBADIAH: Let's begin, shall we?

The Iron Mongers engage their thrusters.

Drones fly overhead for them to attack.

CUT:

EXT. STARK INTERNATIONAL JET- SUNRISE13 13

TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND FEET UP.14 14

CUT:

INT. JET- SAME TIME15 15

Obadiah is in his seat and looks at a view screen.

He views the Symkarian delegate, who talks to all of the defense contractors via video conference. It is daytime in Symkaria.

62. SYMKARIAN DELEGATE:My government would like to thank you all for coming out to show us what your companies have to offer. The demonstrations were quite impressive.

A flight attendant brings Obadiah a drink.

63. SYMKARIAN DELEGATE: As you know we are a small country and with that comes the need for a strong defense. Defense that we feel only one company can offer. Symkaria has decided to go with New Rodina Technologies, represented by Boris Bullski.

Bullski walks onto the screen with the representative.

They shake hands.

Boris' son is in the background. He has a disappointed look on his face.

Obadiah squeezes the glass of club soda that is in his hand.

11.

Page 13: Iron Man Spec Script

He presses a button on his armrest. The Symkarian delegate appears on the screen.

64. OBADIAH:Well, let me be the first to congratulate New Rodina for acquiring the grand prize. May this be just the thing Symkaria needs to feel safe in the world.

65. SYMKARIAN DELEGATE:My country thanks you Obadiah for--

Before the representative can say anymore, Obadiah shuts his monitor off.

Obadiah then turns in his seat and looks out of the window.

The glass that Obadiah squeezes finally cracks. He has a look on his face of utter disbelief and anger.

CUT:

INT. OFFICE OF THE SYMKARIAN DELEGATION- DAY16 16

Boris Bullski talks with some of the delegates.

Pavel Bullski’s cell phone rings. Pavel looks at it and picks up.

66. PAVEL:I do not recognize this number.

67. TONY (O.S.)But I recognize your technology Pavel. Or should I say my technology.

Pavel smirks.

68. PAVEL:Tony Stark. I remember you now. The spoiled heir who profits from his father’s intellect. Was it not he who helped you with that micro-circuit project at that conference?

69. TONY (O.S.):I’m only going to ask you once. Did you steal the schematics for my neural telepresence?

12.

Page 14: Iron Man Spec Script

70. PAVEL:It is beneath me to even dignify that with a response. Until you can show humility toward someone who can design more sophisticated technology than you, do not call back.

He hangs up.

Pavel tries to get his father's attention.

71. PAVEL: Father!

Boris turns around and walks toward his son. He looks slightly annoyed.

72. BORIS:What is it Pavel? Do you not see me speaking?

73. PAVEL:I thought once I--acquired the schematics of the neural control system, we were going to visit the gaming expo in East Schonstadt?

74. BORIS:There is still business that needs to be discussed.

75. PAVEL:But you promised--

Boris’ demeanor abruptly changes. He is incredibly angry.

76. BORIS:I said there is still business. Do not try my patience again.

Boris walks back to the delegates.

Pavel is incredibly angry.

18 18EXT. PIER- THE WATERFRONT- DAY

Jim Rhodes walks along the pier.

He speaks into a blue tooth earpiece.

77. RHODEY:Yeah, its great that you have those files, but where are you?

78. PEPPER (O.S.):Right here!

79. RHODEY:Aaaggghh!

Rhodey turns and sees that Pepper snuck up on him.

80. PEPPER:See that? I’m good, aren’t I? Wonder if I’m ready. Not S.H.I.E.L.D ready, but like regular spy ready.

Rhodey holds his head as if a headache is coming on. Pepper’s demeanor suddenly changes.

81. RHODEY:So, did you get the files on Bullski?

Pepper hands him a memory stick.

82. PEPPER:Yeah, but--

83. RHODEY:But, what?

84. PEPPER:One of the files, involves your father.

Rhodey’s eyes widen.

85. RHODEY:What?

Water splashes up on Rhodey and Pepper from behind. They get drenched.

86. RHODEY: Hey man, what's the deal?

14.

Page 16: Iron Man Spec Script

A large shadow forms over them.

87. IRON MAN (O.S.):Sorry about that. Taking the new toy out for a test ride.

As Rhodey and Pepper turn around, they see Iron Man who hovers in the air in his experimental Hydro Armor Mk II.

88. IRON MAN:This is the new hydro armor. Retrofitted for sub-aquatic depths that would crush the other armors. I’ve been searching for the wreckage of that drone.

Iron Man lands on the pier.

Rhodey and Pepper walk toward him.

89. PEPPER:This is the coolest thing since, well, whenever you designed your last one. How many do you have now anyway?

90. RHODEY:Hope your blueprints for that are more secure than they were for the telepresence.

The glass over the Hydro armor slides down.

The hydro armor then goes into a transformation. The glass dome slips back and it converts into his normal Mark III armor. The helmet opens and Tony’s face is revealed.

Rhodey approaches him.

91. TONY:Tried to trace an unusual signal going through my network, but it split off and routed through at least sixteen thousand IP Addresses. Don't know how they pulled that trick or how they even got in, but they're good.

Rhodey dangles the memory stick.

92. RHODEY:Yeah, well Pepper found some more questions instead of answers.

15.

Page 17: Iron Man Spec Script

Looks like my father had something to do with our Ukrainian friend.

93. TONY:Bullski?

Pepper counts on her fingers Bullski’s past professions.

94. PEPPER:Commissar Boris Bullski. Former Russian military, then a mercenary after the old Soviet Union broke up. My dad probably owes Nick Fury a favor for getting this. Or I do, but Fury thinks he does.

Tony has a surprised look.

95. TONY:Wow, looks like both of our fathers had more going on than we knew about.

An alarm blares from Tony's armor.

Tony seals his helmet.

96. RHODEY: What is it man?

On Tony's view screen is a massive scene of destruction at the Symkarian military base. A news report plays.

97. REPORTER (O.S.):The attack was less than one hour ago. The Symkarian Ministry of Defense has not confirmed the identity of the attackers--

98. IRON MAN:Someone hit the Symkarian base. It looks bad.

99. PEPPER:You think Stane is involved?

100. RHODEY:Openly starting an international incident? Too overt. Definitely not his style.

101. REPORTER:--viewed as an act of war.

16.

92. RHODEY: (CONT'D)

Page 18: Iron Man Spec Script

Tony's boot jets ignite.

102. IRON MAN:Only one way to be sure.

Tony's armor flies off and out into the distance.

Rhodey stands there motionless.

He continues to stare at the memory stick in his hand.

CUT:

INT. OBADIAH'S OFFICE-DAY19 19

Obadiah sits at his desk.

He talks with someone we can't see on his computer monitor.

103. OBADIAH:You listen and you listen well. I don't care what it takes, where you have to go or what you have to do. You get that intel that I requested.

Obadiah has a picture of the character who attacked the Symkarian base. It is shadowy and faded, so he cannot discern who the attacker is.

104. OBADIAH: Not some indecipherable--unintelligence. If you can't see fit to finish the job I have hired you for, then I'm sure any one of your competitors will.

There is a knock on the window behind Obadiah. He reaches for the off switch on the monitor which we hear go off.

Obadiah then gets up, turns around and stares at his window with the curtains covering it.

105. OBADIAH: Open curtains.

The curtains open.

Iron Man hovers in the air just outside the window and stares at Obadiah.

17.

Page 19: Iron Man Spec Script

106. OBADIAH: Why am I not surprised? You do know there are doors to this building.

Iron Man doesn’t respond at all.

107. OBADIAH: Well?

108. IRON MAN:I'm sure you've seen the news about the attack on the Symkarians.

Obadiah walks closer to the window.

109. OBADIAH:And this would concern me how?

110. IRON MAN:Just days after this building was attacked and just hours after you lost the contract bid to New Rodina Technologies? Did you have a hand in it, Stane?

111. OBADIAH:(Laughing)

Is that what you came all the way here for, to ask me if I ordered an assault on some Euro-trash military installation?

Iron Man folds his arms.

112. OBADIAH (O.S.):Oh, you've got some sense of humor. What naivete. No one’s made me laugh like that since Howard Stark was around.

Iron Man then flies down where his face is meeting Obadiah's with only the glass in between them.

113. IRON MAN:That doesn't answer the question.

114. OBADIAH:What do you think the answer is? Do I look that stupid?

Stane turns around and walks to his desk.

18.

Page 20: Iron Man Spec Script

115. OBADIAH: And if you don't believe me then you can check with today's security footage and yesterday evening's.

He sits down at his desk.

116. OBADIAH: I've been here all night and all day, just until your rude interruption.

Stane fiddles with the controls on his computer.

117. OBADIAH: Now if you'll excuse me, I have a little soiree that I’m planning for some business associates.

118. IRON MAN:You mean the other war mongers that were bidding on the Symkarian contract?

Stane has an angry scowl.

As the curtains close, Iron Man makes one final statement.

119. IRON MAN: You’d better hope the security logs match up Stane. There's been a lot of funny stuff going on lately.

The curtains close and we then go to Iron Man on the other side as he finishes his statement.

120. IRON MAN: And you can bet that I'll be getting to the bottom of it all.

Iron man then flies off.

BACK:

INT. OBADIAH'S OFFICE-SUNSET20 20

Obadiah brings the monitor back on and finishes where he left off with the individual he was talking to.

121. OBADIAH:Scratch what I said earlier. You now have twenty four hours and no less.

19.

If you can’t find the man behind that armored behemoth that attacked the Symkarians--

122. PERSON ON COMPUTER:(Male voice)

There is no need to worry Mr. Stane. The Chessmen never disappoint and always go above and beyond our call. By the end of the day, your annoyance will be dealt with and you can go back to worrying about more important things.

123. OBADIAH:I am holding you to your word. Do not, and I stress this, do not disappoint me.

The monitor cuts out to a S.I. logo.

CUT:

INT. SECRET WAREHOUSE- SUNSET21 21

THE CHESSMAN who was talking to Stane can now be seen. It is a masked man in a black kevlar suit. He has a picture of a rook chess piece on the upper right side of his chest. He slowly turns around.

124. ROOK:I told Stane what you wanted, now can I leave?

He turns around and sees the silhouette of a giant 8 foot tall armor. There is a hint of green to the metal. The armor raises its gauntlet and powers up its energy beam.

Footage now plays on the monitor. A Black man wearing black camouflage gear sits in a dimly lit room. He is handcuffed to a chair. He has a bruise on his left cheek. He is MAJOR DAVID RHODES, Rhodey’s dad.

CUT:

Rhodey has a surprised look on his face.

126. RHODEY:Dad?

CUT:

ON THE MONITOR

A door opens.

Boris Bullski enters the room. He has on his old Russian military uniform. He has a suitcase with him.

127. BULLSKI:So, do you care to be more forthcoming today and tell us what you were doing inside of that facility?

Major Rhodes sits silently.

128. BULLSKI: I looked up your file, Major David Rhodes. Special Forces, dishonorably discharged, taking up missions now for the highest bidder.

Rhodey sits there completely astonished by what he just heard.

On the screen, Major Rhodes still sits there silently.

129. BULLSKI: Very well, then.

21.

Page 23: Iron Man Spec Script

Boris walks toward his suitcase.

130. BULLSKI: We shall see what breaks first, American.

He opens the suitcase, but we cannot see what is inside.

131. BULLSKI: Your pride or your body.

BACK:

INSIDE RHODEY’S ROOM. 24 24

He slightly winces at what he sees on the screen.

132. MAJOR RHODES (O.S.):Nnnggghhhaaaggghhh!

Jim now looks extremely angry.

EXT. AUDITORIUM- NIGHT25 25

A large gala event takes place. Bright lights and camera flashes go off everywhere.

CUT:

INT. AUDITORIUM- NIGHT26 26

Tony Stark is in an expensive suit. Obadiah Stane, also in a suit, walks up to him.

133. TONY:I’m surprised you allowed me to show up.

134. OBADIAH:Well, contrary to your belief, I don’t want you shut out of all affairs.

Stane walks away from Tony.

135. OBADIAH: Just the important ones.

Tony talks to Jim Rhodes via his POD.

22.

Page 24: Iron Man Spec Script

136. RHODEY (O.S.):What a jerk!

137. TONY: Are you sure about what you saw Rhodey? And about your dad possibly being a rogue agent?

138. RHODEY (O.S.):I saw the footage man. Some other FSB goons had to restrain Bullski during the interrogation. His psych profile showed signs of Acute and Post Traumatic Stress Syndromes. That creep's wiring is faulty upstairs.

139. TONY:Enough to get him booted from the military, I'm betting.

140. RHODEY (O.S.):Maybe enough to destabilize an entire region of Europe and using your stolen tech to boot?

A photographer snaps a quick picture of Tony.

He smiles just before the flash.

The photographer then walks away.

141. TONY:Possibly. I'm tired of being diplomatic about this. Time for the direct approach.

Tony sees Obadiah walk up to Boris Bullski.

142. RHODEY (O.S.):Yeah, well direct your fist to his face for me, will ya?

143. TONY:I'll call you when I have something. And we’ll talk about your dad.

Tony shuts his POD off. He sees Pavel. Both teenagers approach each other.

144. PAVEL:Are you here to offer an apology?

23.

Page 25: Iron Man Spec Script

145. TONY:Oh, that’s funny. I thought you were, for being a thief.

Both exchange an uneasy glance. Tony backs down first. He looks downward.

146. TONY: <exhaling>Look, I know it isn’t easy. Our fathers put alot on us to succeed. Some kids can crack under that kind of pressure.

147. PAVEL:How quaint. You thought we could bond. Hmmmph.

Pavel walks away. Tony shakes his head at Pavel’s arrogance.

Tony presses a button on a hearing aid-like device in his ear.

Obadiah and Boris’ conversation can be heard by Tony as if he were standing next to them.

148. OBADIAH:Well Boris, I’m glad you could make it. I know the Symkarian contract has kept you--a tad pre-occupied.

149. BULLSKI:What concern is it of yours?

150. OBADIAH:So, how did you do it Bullski?

Bullski looks confused.

151. BULLSKI:Pardon me?

152. OBADIAH:I--borrowed some footage from a satellite in geosynchronous orbit at the time of the attack. My people were able to discern that it was an armor. The same one that attacked Stark International.

Bullski adjusts the collar of his shirt.

24.

Page 26: Iron Man Spec Script

153. OBADIAH: My people also ran the schematics. The exo-skeletal design and power systems all reek of familiarity. Titanium Man familiarity.

Bullski raises his eyebrow.

154. BULLSKI:Your people are good.

Obadiah smiles.

155. OBADIAH:That they are.

156. BULLSKI:But not good enough to know that I was meeting with the Symkarian Minister of Defense at the time of the attack?

Obadiah’s smile fades away.

157. OBADIAH:So you had nothing to do with it?

Tony, who is in the background, also has a surprised look.

158. TONY:So Obadiah had nothing to do with it?

AN EXPLOSION collapses one of the walls of the building. Random screams can be heard.

Tony looks at the source of the explosion as smoke bellows from the rubble.

A large armored figure comes through the smoke. It is an eight foot tall green metallic armor, the TITANIUM MAN.

CLOSE UP of Tony who looks up at the armored figure.

159. TONY: And me without my good suit, great.

INT. INSIDE OF THE TITANIUM MAN ARMOR28 28

Through the eye slits of the green metallic armored figure, it looks at Bullski and Obadiah. Its HUD is made up of numbers and schematics.

BACK:

EXT.29 29

Security guards run towards Titanium Man. Two seconds later, their bodies are knocked back in the other direction.

CUT:

INT.30 30

Titanium Man’s vision zooms in on Bullski. Bullski looks up at the metallic figure in shock.

160. BULLSKI:The Titanium Man? Impossible.

BACK:

EXT.31 31

Obadiah looks over at Bullski.

161. OBADIAH:Impossible, what do you mean impossible? Bullski, if--

Before Obadiah can say anymore Bullski interrupts him.

162. BULLSKI:If I were you Stane, I would worry more about running than accusations. Now, move it!

The two men run off.

As they run away, the Titanium Man lifts off into the air and heads towards them.

CUT:

INT. AUDITORIUM32 32

Tony heads toward the collapsed wall.

26.

Page 28: Iron Man Spec Script

He hides on the other side of it.

Tony then pulls out his POD.

163. TONY:Rhodey where are you? I.R.V.I.N.G. should have been here by now. Usually when someone says right away, they mean right away!

164. PEPPER (O.S.):I’m on it! Rather hyper for the ultra calm control freak you usually are.

165. TONY:Pepper? Where’s Rhodey?

166. PEPPER:Don’t know. He was acting weird since I gave him that file about his dad. Said he needed to get some air.

Zoom in on Tony's POD and Pepper’s image on it.

167. PEPPER: And how fast did you expect the drop ship to get there anyway? You always say you need help. I said anything you want boss. Then you ask to go pick up your suit and you weren’t talking dry cleaning. And to get the drop ship over here as fast as you can? Well, Tony, this is as fast as I can!

There is a gust of air as a huge shadow forms over Tony.

Tony looks up at the DROP SHIP through the hole in the wall and ceiling.

168. TONY:Remind me to give you a raise.

169. PEPPER (O.S.):You don't pay me.

170. TONY:Then remind me when you're working for me.

The drop ship lands and opens its bay doors.

27.

171. COMPUTER:In-flight Refitting Vehicle with Interactive Neuro-mnematic Gear.

Tony runs into the ship.

CUT:

EXT. HIGH RISE PARKING COMPLEX- NIGHT33 33

Bullski and Obadiah hide behind some cars.

172. OBADIAH:This is ridiculous, hiding like children. I thought you Russians were made of sterner stuff.

173. BULLSKI:You do not know what the Titanium Man is capable of. Trust me, this is the safer option. Who could possibly have completed construction of--

Bullski has an epiphany.

Before Bullski can put to words what he is thinking, the Titanium Man crashes through the wall of the complex.

Obadiah and Bullski look like frightened children.

174. OBADIAH:Safer option, huh?

The Titanium Man looks around.

CUT:

INT. ARMOR P.O.V. (HUD)34 34

It scans buildings and cars.

BACK:

EXT.35 35

Titanium Man walks and looks around.

It raises its arm and shoots out an energy pulse. The pulse hits a car and blows it up.

28.

Page 30: Iron Man Spec Script

Then it fires another and another, one explosion after the other follows.

CUT:

INT. ARMOR P.O.V.36 36

Titanium Man scans another car.

It changes scan visions to thermal and zooms in on the car and it notices two people behind it.

BACK:

EXT.37 37

Titanium Man points its arms towards the car Obadiah and Bullski hide behind.

The pulse then builds up.

It fires off the pulse and we follow the pulse as it flies toward the car.

Before it hits the car, another blast knocks it away.

Titanium Man looks toward the direction of the opposite pulse that was fired and he sees Iron Man.

Iron Man flies up and punches Titanium Man. It seems to have no effect.

He punches three more times and the Titanium Man just stands there like nothing affected him.

175. IRON MAN:He improved his shielding?

176. COMPUTER:Full-spectrum analysis shows that kinetic nano-technology is incorporated into the shielding. This is designed to--

The Titanium Man takes a swing back at Iron Man, which he barely dodges in time.

177. IRON MAN:I know, I know. Absorb whatever I hit him with and redirect it back at me.

29.

Page 31: Iron Man Spec Script

Titanium Man fires an energy pulse at Iron Man, which he also dodges.

An explosion goes off in the background.

Iron Man tries to fly away, but Titanium Man grabs him.

He attacks Iron man with a punch. Iron Man blocks and grabs his arm, flips him over and tosses him across the complex towards a bunch of parked cars.

178. IRON MAN: How about using your own momentum against you?

The cars explode. Iron Man relaxes a bit.

Titanium Man slowly walks through the flames and debris.

CUT:

INT. IRON MAN ARMOR38 38

Same scene, but now being viewed through Tony's HUD.

179. TONY:That's right. Keep the heat up. That should be enough to burn out the--

ZOOM IN. There is an orange blinker on Titanium Man's chest, helmet, gauntlets and boots.

180. TONY: No telepresence. Someone's inside.

BACK:

EXT. PARKING GARAGE39 39

Before Tony can finish, Titanium Man fires a volley of rockets at him.

Iron Man flies straight up.

The rockets hit a wall and explode.

Titanium Man lifts off in pursuit of Iron Man. As he does, Obadiah and Bullski run away quickly.

CUT:

30.

Page 32: Iron Man Spec Script

Iron Man stops and hovers about four hundred feet up.

181. IRON MAN:Good thing those weren't heat seekers.

Tony looks down.

CUT:

INT. IRON MAN ARMOR40 40

Through his HUD we can see three missiles approach him. Three digital arrows point to the missiles. The digital readout shows STINGER HOMING. DISTANCE: ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY METERS.

182. TONY:Me and my big mouth.

BACK:

EXT. IN THE SKY41 41

Iron Man flies up and off into the distance.

The missiles pursue.

Three seconds later, so does Titanium Man.

They pass some buildings in Manhattan.

Iron Man looks behind him.

CUT:

INT. IRON MAN ARMOR42 42

Through his HUD we see the missiles again. This time the digital readout shows DISTANCE ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE METERS.

BACK:

EXT. 43 43

Iron Man turns back and kicks his boot jets to high gear. The missiles still track him.

31.

Page 33: Iron Man Spec Script

Iron Man flies through a construction site. A Stark International sign is there.

Iron Man fires his chest beam at a forklift on the ground. He then flies past it. The side of the forklift has melted due to the heat.

As the missiles approach, one of them strikes the collapsing forklift and it explodes. The other two still follow Tony.

Titanium Man is still in pursuit as well.

They fly out toward open water. Tony stops fast, turns around and fires a repulsor blast from his gauntlet. It blasts one of the missiles and it explodes.

The third missile flies through the fire. Tony fires another repulsor blast, but the missile is so close that the explosion rocks Tony and it partially damages his armor.

183. IRON MAN:Aaaggghhh!

184. COMPUTER:Warning! Shielding down to sixty-two percent.

Titanium Man appears out of nowhere and punches Iron Man in the stomach.

Iron Man then fires a repulsor blast with one hand, then follows up with a sharp uppercut. It does nothing.

Titanium Man then hammers Iron Man down into the water.

Right before Iron Man hits the water, Titanium Man fires a pulse blast at Tony for good measure. It hits Tony in the back and forces him under. He fights to get his bearings.

CUT:

INT. IRON MAN ARMOR44 44

Tony panics.

185. COMPUTER:Shields and dampeners off-line. Communications jammed. Hull breach imminent. Abdominal bruising.

32.

Page 34: Iron Man Spec Script

186. TONY:Giant bruiser. Maybe I can use that to my advantage.

BACK:

EXT. 45 45

A series of slits open on the Iron Man armor. Gold plating forms around the suit. Components click and connect.

A glass cover comes around Tony's head. He is now wearing his Hydro armor. He turns around and heads deeper into the water.

Titanium Man flies down into the water. He pauses.

CUT:

INT. TITANIUM MAN'S ARMOR46 46

His HUD zooms in on Iron Man. The armor’s occupant breathes harder.

BACK:

EXT. 47 47

Titanium Man flies in pursuit of him.

CUT:

Iron Man goes deeper and deeper in the water.

Titanium Man maintains his pace.

Iron Man turns around.

CUT:

INT. IRON MAN ARMOR48 48

Tony's HUD now views Titanium Man. There are bubbles forming around Titanium Man’s elbow, shoulder and knee joints. The Titanium Man looks at his own armor. He freezes.

187. TONY:Come on. Come on!

33.

Page 35: Iron Man Spec Script

188. COMPUTER:Sensors detect flaw in enemy shielding.

189. TONY:Exactly. The nanotech is focusing on the most immediate threat, the under water pressure.

BACK:

EXT. IN THE WATER49 49

Iron Man turns around and fires his repulsors and tag both of Titanium Man’s energy gauntlets. They are now damaged.

190. IRON MAN: That did it! Combined with the fact that unless the pilot was eight feet tall, there had to have been a huge amount of extra space. Extra unpressurized space.

Iron Man moves toward the Titanium Man.

CUT:

INT. TITANIUM MAN ARMOR50 50

His HUD reads HULL BREACH. Emergency lights flash and alarms blare.

The person's face remains hidden but he breathes rapid, shallow breaths as panic sets in.

BACK:

EXT. IN THE WATER51 51

Iron Man grabs the Titanium Man armor and heads toward the surface.

They emerge on the surface.

Iron Man flies Titanium Man to the beach and lays him down.

CUT:

34.

Page 36: Iron Man Spec Script

INT. TITANIUM MAN ARMOR52 52

Titanium Man's point of view. His helmet is ripped off by Iron Man.

Once it is removed, Iron Man stares at him.

191. IRON MAN:I thought so.

CUT:

Pavel Bullski was the pilot of the Titanium Man armor. He looks like he is about to pass out.

CUT:

EXT. JIM RHODES HOME- SUNRISE53 53

CUT:

INT. GYMNASIUM54 54

Rhodey has on workout clothing and boxing gloves. He faces us as he works over a punching bag.

Tony walks into the gym.

Jim stops for a brief moment. He has a ticked off look on his face.

192. TONY:Hey, Rhodey. How you holding up?

193. RHODEY:You found out who stole your tech, de-escalated the Symkarian situation before war broke out and cleared Stane of involvement. I'd say everything is aces.

Rhodey works over the heavy bag again.

194. TONY:I know you and you don't look it.

Rhodey continues to punch. He ignores Tony.

Tony exhales.

35.

Page 37: Iron Man Spec Script

195. TONY: I made a stop by the S.H.I.E.L.D Helicarrier.

Rhodey still looks angry.

196. TONY (O.S.):Looks like you might be wrong about your father. Pepper’s dad is good, but doesn’t pull as much weight with Nick Fury as Iron Man apparently.

Rhodey lifts his head up. His anger slowly fades.

197. RHODEY:What? But the files Pepper’s dad got? My dad sneaking into their base--

Tony walks toward the doorway.

198. TONY:On a mission for S.H.I.E.L.D. Your dad’s no traitor. He sounds like a patriot to me.

Rhodey smiles as Tony walks out of the gym.

As he walks out, we finally see a picture taped to the punching bag. It is a picture of Boris Bullski.

FADE TO:

INT. UKRAINIAN FACILITY- SUNSET55 55

The Bullski image fades to the real Bullski. He walks away from his son.

Pavel is inside of a cell and has on a gray ragged shirt and pants. He lowers his head in shame.

CUT:

EXT. UNKRAINIAN FACILITY- SUNSET56 56

Old Russian opera music plays.

Bullski walks out of the facility. There is Ukrainian writing over the doorway of the building.

36.

Page 38: Iron Man Spec Script

Bullski walks to a black sedan with dark tinted windows. He gets inside of it.

CUT:

INT. BLACK SEDAN57 57

There is a large metallic box on the floor of the passenger seat. Bullski places his thumb on a pad on the box. It scans his thumb and a light turns green. The box unlocks.

Boris takes the cover off of the box. Components of the Titanium Man armor, including the gauntlets and helmet are in it.

We only see Bullski’s mouth. He smiles.

Bullski covers the box back up and locks it.

CUT:

EXT. BLACK SEDAN58 58

The car's ignition starts. It drives out of the parking lot and into the snowy wilderness as the final seconds of daylight end and it becomes night.

Russian music ends.
