  • 2Udruga Festival suvremenog idovskog filma Zagreb od samih je svojih poetaka 2008. godine, od kada kontinuirano djeluje, prepoznala potrebu za ponudom dodatnih obogaenih sadraja u kulturi i izvaninstitucionalnog obrazovanja graana te ponuenim programima progovaramo i upozoravamo na strahote koje su se dogaale za vrijeme holokausta, ali i podsjeamo na to da danas jo uvijek nema dovoljno interesa i tolerancije da se uasi genocida i ratova zaustave. Namjera je Udruge progovoriti o nunosti razumijevanja razliitog, o toleranciji, o ljubavi. Udruga svojim djelovanjem u dananje vrijeme jaanja desnice u Europi i Americi progovara o toleranciji na jedan specifian i ljudski nain. Edukacijska jutra su program iskljuivo posveen edukaciji o holokaustu i potrebi za tolerancijom i uvaavanjem razliitosti s ciljem sretnog suivota, a namijenjena su poticanju mladih na upranjavanje tolerancije u svakodnevnom ivotu. Posveeni smo edukaciji i upozoravanju ire javnosti o sveprisutnoj neofaistikoj ikonografiji u javnom prostoru na podruju drava bive Jugoslavije te o grafikom govoru mrnje od strane skinheada, neonacistikih i ekstremnih navijakih skupina, od kojeg preesto okreemo pogled umjesto da se s

    njim suoimo. I danas smo svjedocima uporabe tih simbola koji nas svakodnevno okruuju, ponekad izuzetno dobro skriveni iza paravana sportskih dogaaja, posebice nogometnih utakmica, kao i koncerata te ideje domoljublja. Sredina u kojoj ivimo, sredina u kojoj se Festival odrava, jo uvijek nije osvijestila strahote koje su se dogodile niti jasno o tome progovara i zato je ovaj Festival vana javna platforma na kojoj se iz godine u godinu sve glasnije i sa sve veim odazivom publike stalno podsjea na strahote tamne ljudske povijesti: da se ne zaboravi! Upravo iz tog razloga ove godine kao izlobu domaoj publici u sklopu Festivala tolerancije 7. Festivala idovskog filma Zagreb pripremili smo postav originalnih plakata iz 1941. godine. Antimasonski plakati tematska je izloba nacistikih propagandnih plakata namijenjenih Srbiji u vrijeme Drugog svjetskog rata, a koji su u vlasnitvu poznatog dizajnera i ilustratora Mirka Ilia. Izloba se odrava kao popratni program Festivala tolerancije 7. Festivala idovskog filma Zagreb, od 19. do 25. svibnja 2013., u Kinu Europa, Zagreb, i od 03. do 08. lipnja 2013., u Malom salonu, Rijeka.

    U kolekciji nedostaju tri izvorna plakata koja su stoga prikazana ilustrativno.

    Zahvaljujemo partnerima koji su omoguili realizaciju izlobe i podrali misiju Udruge o vanosti edukacije o holokaustu i borbi protiv stereotipa. Izlobu i tisak kataloga su financijski podrali AIC Foundation Inc., Veleposlanstvo Sjedinjenih Amerikih drava u Republici Hrvatskoj te Ministarstvo kulture Republike Hrvatske.

  • 4The Jewish Film Festival Zagreb Association has from its very beginnings in 2008, since when it has been continuously working, recognized the need to offer additional enriched features to culture and the outer-institutional education of citizens. Throughout offered programs, we speak out and warn about the atrocities that took place during the Holocaust, reminding the public that there is still not enough interest and tolerance to put an end to the horrors of genocides and wars. It is the aim of the Association to speak out about the necessity of understanding the different, tolerance, love. Stimulated by the atrocities that took place in our recent history, we recognized the necessity for founding the Jewish Film Festival Zagreb Association. Having in mind the recent increasing popularity of far-right ideologies in Europe and in the United States, the Association speaks out about tolerance in a specific, humane manner. Educational mornings are an educational program about the Holocaust which stimulates development of tolerance and accepting diversity, which are certainly the fundamental principles for the functioning of a healthy socialization. Through Educational mornings, we incite our youth to embrace tolerance in everyday life. We are dedicated to education and warning the wider public about the omnipresent neo-fascist iconography in the public life of republics of former Yugoslavia, about the verbal and graphic hate speech, and the violent behaviour of certain social groups and individuals. Far too often, we turn our heads away from these problems instead of confronting them. Even today we are witnesses to the usage of the symbols of hatred which surround us on a daily basis, sometimes aptly hidden behind the curtain of sports events, especially football matches, concerts, and the notion of patriotism. The community in which we live, and in which this Festival is held, has still not become aware of the atrocities that happened, nor has it properly confronted this topic. That is why this Festival is an important public platform which,

    with each year, is visited by more and more people and which ever so clearly reminds us of the terrors of the Holocaust: it should not be forgotten! For this reason we organize the exhibition of original posters from 1941, as a part of the Festival of Tolerance - Jewish Film Festival. The Anti-Masonic posters exhibition is a thematic exhibition of the Nazi propaganda posters, which were made for Serbia during WWII. Its owner is a world-renowned designer and illustrator Mirko Ili. The exhibition will be held as an accompanying program of the Festival of Tolerance 7th Zagreb Jewish Film Festival, and it will be open to public from May 19th until May 25th, 2013 at the Cinema Europa in the City of Zagreb, and from June 3th until June 8th, 2013 at the Mali salon gallery in the City of Rijeka.

    The collection is missing 3 original posters, thus they will be shown illustratively.

  • 6Do travnja 1941. godine, nacistika Njemaka okupirala je veinu Jugoslavije. Nakon srpskog ustanka u srpnju iste godine, generalu Hermannu Bohmu dana je izvanredna ovlast nad dravom. SS Gruppenfhrer Harold Turner i SS Untersturmfhrer Fritz Stracke vodili su administraciju Srbije. Milan Nedi bio je lokalni rukovoditelj, usporediv s kolaboracionistikim kvislinkim reimom u Norvekoj.

    Pod Nedievim je reimom u okupiranom Beogradu 22. listopada 1941. godine otvorena antisemitska Velika antimasonska izloba koja je trajala do sijenja sljedee godine. Izloba je oito bila financirana od strane njemakih okupatora i podrana od strane Nedia kako bi se mrnja spram idova intenzivirala, iako je naslov izlobe sugerirao na masone (red masona u Njemakoj je bio zatvoren). Dok je Nedi podravao njemaki plan istrebljenja idova, srpske partizanske grupe esto su pokuavale sauvati idove od viktimizacije. Povijest ovoga razdoblja je sloena, ispunjena meusobnim optubama o ulogama zloinaca i spasitelja.

    Sredinja tema izlobe bila je navodna idovsko-komunistiko-masonska zavjera o svjetskoj dominaciji, slina propagandi koju je prije Ruske revolucije izbacila carska tajna policija u opepoznatoj krivotvorini Protokoli sionskih mudraca. Uz izloke, na izlobi je pripremljena ogromna koliina propagandnog materijala: vie od 200.000 razliitih broura, 60.000 plakata, 100.000 letaka, 108.000 primjeraka 9 razliitih vrsta kuverata, 176 propagandnih filmskih isjeaka, etiri razliite potanske marke, itd. Organizatori izlobe oglaavali su kako e ovakav koncept izlobe biti jedinstven ne samo u Srbiji i na Balkanu, ne samo u jugoistonoj Europi i Europi openito, ve i u cijelome svijetu.

    Crtei na plakatima prikazanim na izlobi nikako nisu bili novi. Otprije su vieni u Njemakoj tijekom izloba Vjeni idov u Mnchenu i Beu

    izmeu 1937. i 1939. godine. Srbijanske novine poput Obnove i Nae borbe veliale su spomenutu izlobu, proklamirajui kako su idovi drevni neprijatelji srpskog naroda i kako Srbi ne bi trebali ekati Nijemce da bi zapoeli istrjebljenje idova. Nekoliko mjeseci kasnije, srbijanske su vlasti izdale potanske marke odajui poast otvorenju ove popularne izlobe. Te su marke, sa suprotstavljenim idovskim i srbijanskim simbolima (ali bez nacistikih simbola), portretirale judaizam kao izvor svjetskog zla te su zagovarale poniavanje i nasilno podjarmljivanje idova. Od posebnog je interesa materijal koji prikazuje navodnu idovsku dominaciju nad amerikim tiskom i financijama, posebice kontrolu nad The New York Timesom.

    Ova vrsta antisemitske propagande omoguuje nam da jasno vidimo kako umjetnost, osobito propagandni plakati, moe pomoi stvoriti druge. idovi su istodobno bili prikazivani kao kapitalisti i komunisti te navodna tajna sila koja je vladala svim aspektima europskog, tovie svjetskog ekonomskog ivota. Britanski akademik, povjesniar i pisac Norman Cohn okarakterizirao je takav prikaz kao

    jamstvo za genocid.

  • 8Nazi Germany occupied most of Yugoslavia by April 1941. After a Serbian uprising of July 1941, Gen. Hermann Bohme was given provisional authority due to a state of emergency to govern the country. SS-Gruppenfhrer Harold Turner and SS-Untersturmfhrer Fritz Stracke handled the administration of Serbia. Milan Nedi was the nominal local ruler, comparable to the collaborationist regime of Quisling in Norway.

    Under the Nedi regime, a heavily anti-semitic Grand Anti-Masonic Exhibition opened in occupied Belgrade on October 22nd 1941 and ended January 19th, 1942. Allegedly, it was funded by the German occupiers and supported by Nedi to intensify hatred against the Jews, although the title of the exhibit suggested the Masons (Masonic Orders had been closed in Germany). While Nedi was a supporter of the German plan for extermination of the Jews, Serbian partisan groups often tried to save Jews from victimization. The history of this period is complex, filled with mutual accusations regarding the role of perpetrators and rescuers.

    The central theme was an alleged Jewish-Communist-Masonic plot for world domination, similar to the propaganda once put out by the Tsarist secret police before the Russian revolution in the well-known forgeries The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. In addition to the work exhibited, an enormous amount of propaganda material was prepared: over 200 thousand various brochures, 60 thousand posters, 100 thousand flyers, 108 thousand of samples of 9 different types of envelopes, 176 propaganda movie clips, four different postage stamps etc. Organizers advertised that This concept of exhibition will be unique not only in Serbia and the Balkans, not only in southeastern Europe and Europe, but in the world.

    The images on the posters shown at the exhibition were hardly new, and had been seen before in

    Germany during The Eternal Jew exhibitions in Munich and Vienna during 1937-1939. Serbian newspapers such as Obnova (Renewal) and Naa borba (Our Struggle) praised this exhibit, proclaiming that Jews were the ancient enemies of the Serbian people and that Serbs should not wait for the Germans to begin the extermination of the Jews. A few months later, Serbian authorities issued postage stamps commemorating the opening of this popular exhibit. These stamps, which juxtaposed Jewish and Serbian symbols (but did not contain Nazi symbols), portrayed Judaism as the source of evil in the world and advocated the humiliation and violent subjugation of Jews. The 20 posters shown here give a sense of the vile flavor of the exhibition and the theme of Jewish domination. Of special interest is the material showing their alleged Jewish domination of the American Press and Finance, notably showing significant control over The New York Times.

    This type of anti-Semitic propaganda is useful for seeing how art and propaganda posters in particular can help create the Other. Jews were both capitalists and communists at the same time, and the alleged secret force that dominated all aspects of European, indeed world economic life. Norman Cohn has described this as a warrant for genocide.

    Srbija je 1. sijenja 1942. godine izdala etiri potanske marke kako bi odala poast Velikoj antimasonskoj izlobi, koja je otvorena u Beogradu 22. listopada 1941. godine. Marke prikazuju jaku i pobjedonosnu Srbiju koja rui zlokobnu masonsko-komunistiko-idovsku zavjeru o svjetskoj dominaciji.

    Dodatni porez na izdanja tih markica iskoriten je za antimasonsku, antikomunistiku i antiidovsku propagandu.

    Svaka od potanskih marki sadravala je datum otvorenja, 22. 10. 1941., te su na svakoj od njih napisane irilicom stajale oznake Antimasonska izloba i Srbija.

    Te marke, svojim nizanjem masonskih, komunistikih, idovskih i srbijanskih simbola (nacistiki simboli su primjetno odsutni), pruaju znaajan uvid u ratni svjetonazor kvislinke Srbije. I nakon komunistikog preuzimanja vlasti u Jugoslaviji u svibnju 1945. godine, jugoslavenske vlasti su na masone gledale sa sumnjom i prezirom te je masonstvo ostalo van zakona sljedeih 45 godina, do ljeta 1990. godine.

    Prva potanska marka alegorijski prikazuje masonstvo, kao lik prekriven kapuljaom, koji nosi pregau i Davidovu zvijezdu na prsima. Zakrabuljeni lik prikazan je kako se sklanja od jake zrake svjetla, koja pak zrai iz stilizirane krune verzije tradicionalnog srpskog grba koji tako predstavlja snage antimasonstva.

    Meutim, zakrabuljena figura ne pojavljuje se nigdje u masonstvu. Pokuaj identificiranja idova sa slobodnim masonima sasvim je oit zbog Davidove zvijezde na prsima figure. Takoer, svatko iole upuen u masonsko uenje moe lako prepoznati tendencioznu la u sklanjanju od svjetla.

    Druga marka u seriji prikazuje ruku koja proizlazi iz srebrnastog svjetla, kao i na prvoj markici, i grabi vrat goleme zmije otrovnice ija glava poiva na kutomjeru i estaru. Ova je zmija umjesto ljuskom prekrivena Davidovim zvijezdama. Biblijski, zmija predstavlja sile zla (idove i masone) te je ovdje simboliki zaustavljena rukom srpskog kvislinkog reima.

    Trea marka prikazuje sveanj ita poloenog na tradicionalni kri s ocilima (heraldikim znakom koji se esto pogreno tumai kao etiri irilina slova s) koji simbolizira Srbiju i koji svojim iljastim donjim dijelom razbija zvijezdu sa ekiem i srpom. Rije je o pokuaju da se idovi, masoni i komunisti prikau ideoloki slinima, ako ne i istima, a kvislinki reim kao obrana od tih ujedinjenih zala.

    Posljednja marka u seriji prikazuje Davidovu zvijezdu na zakrivljenoj povrini Zemlje, izmeu dva stupa koja rui revni, moderni srpski Samson. Stupovi su tradicionalni masonski simbol i upuuju na stupove na trijemu hrama kralja Salomona.

    On January 1, 1942 Serbia issued four stamps to commemorate the Grand Anti-Masonic Exhibition, which opened in Belgrade on October 22, 1941. These stamps depict a strong and victorious Serbia crushing an evil Masonic-communist-Jewish conspiracy for world domination.

    The surtax on this issue was used for anti-Masonic, anti-communist, and anti-Jewish propaganda.Each stamp bore the opening date 22. X. 1941 and was labeled Anti-Masonic Exhibition and Serbia in Cyrillic letters.

    These stamps, with their juxtaposition of Masonic, communist, Jewish and Serbian symbols (Nazi symbols are notably absent), provide a remarkable window into the worldview of the Serbian quisling regime. Even after the communist takeover of Yugoslavia in May 1945, Masons were regarded with suspicion and contempt by the Yugoslav authorities and Masonry remained outlawed for the next 45 years until the summer of 1990.

    The first stamp shows Masonry, allegorically clad as a hooded figure wearing an apron and Star of David upon its chest. This hooded figure is shown cringing from a strong ray of light, which emanates from a stylized circular version of the traditional Serbian coat of arms apparently representing the forces of anti-Masonry.

    Nowhere in Masonry does a hooded figure appear. Also any Mason could readily see the fallacy of

    Cringing from Light. Then again, the attempt to

    link Jews with Freemasonry is evident by the Star of David on the figures chest.

    The second stamp of the series shows a hand emanating from a silvery light, as in the first stamp, and grasping the neck of a huge viper whose head rests on a square and compass. This viper or snake is covered with the Stars of David rather than scales. Biblically, the snake represents the forces of evil (Jews and Masons) and here its symbolically being stopped by the hand of Serbian quisling regime.

    The third stamp shows a sheaf of wheat superimposed on a cross with stylized four heraldic signs (firesteels, often wrongly identified as Cyrillic letters S), it has a pointed lower leg, and it impales and splits the hammer and sickle and Davids star. This attempts to show that the Jews, Masons, and communists are alike in ideology if not one and the same.

    The last stamp of the series shows a Star of David upon the curved surface of the earth between two pillars, which are being divided by a zealous modern Serbian Samson. These pillars refer to the two pillars in the porch of King Solomons Temple.
