Age Range: Year 1 & 2 (KS1)
Alongside the learning projects we are using, the Government have worked alonside a wide range of educational experts to create the list
of resources below including the BBC Bitesize and Oak Academy daily learning schedules and home learning projects. They follow the
National Curriculum and all resources and tasks are there ready for you to take part. Please have a look and try some of the activities

Year 1 main tasks:
Lesson 1: Can you count to 100?
Practise counting to 100. Get a family member to say alternative
numbers.
Can you write numbers specified by an adult? E.g Adult says 75
can you write it?
Can you say and write the number one more and one less from a
number to 100?
Lesson 2: Complete the hundred square by writing the numbers in
the correct space with the correct number formation.
Lesson 3: Can you complete the Tens and Ones discussion cards?
Lesson 4: Can you complete the Tens and ones worksheet?

Year 2 main tasks:
Use the shape sheet to recap the 2D/3D shapes? Can you find any 3D
shapes around the house?
Lesson 1: Recognising 2D and 3D shapes
Please find attached sheets below! Prior to this lesson it would be advised to
recap the main 2D/3D shapes in the activity above.
Lesson 2: Drawing 2D shapes
You will need a ruler or a straight edge to join the dots to make your shape!
Lesson 3: Counting sides on 2D shapes
When filling out the names in the table sound out the shapes with your child
to fill in the missing letters.
Lesson 4: Counting verticies on 2D shapes
Remind your child that vertices are the corners of a shape, where 2 or more
lines meet.
Year 2 Daily fluency:
Mon: ½ of 22 = 37 – 16 = 8 x 5 =
Tues: 61 + 10 ¾ of 20 = 32 ÷ 2 =

Writing
Story writing based on The Ugly Five (see reading task)
Write clues / fact sheet to help people guess your animal from the
story. (See template)
Make up your own adventure for the Ugly Five animals.
Use Purple Mash to create a poster that teaches people how to
stay safe on Safari.
Use adjectives to write a description of a different safari animal.
Cross curricular
Complete the sorting task (template below) using your Science knowledge to
help you sort the carnivores, herbivores and omnivores.
Extension:
Create a picture book with illustrations. Re-write in ‘neat’, with clearly
formed cursive letters and spellings checked.
Learning Project - to be done throughout the week
RE TASK
This week our focus is on Hinduism. We would like you to have a Hinduism day like we would have done in school! Work
through the powerpoint and stop at the end of each section to complete the task. There are 4 main sections. 1. Look and
discover: Hindu Story; Ganesh 2. Discover: Story of the birth of Krishna. 3. Look and Discover: Hindu home shrine. Puja at
home. 4. Discover and respect: Hindu’s home life of prayer.
Enjoy learning about a different religion.
Active task
Can you design an assault course?
Think of at least 5 activities and then lay them out around the garden/ park.
Eg. Skipping a distance (with a rope or not), run through cones/ sticks, ten hops, walk along a straight line like a tightrope,
complete 10 lunges.
(Don’t forget you can use things from around the house instead of actual PE equipment)

Edward Saidi Tingatinga was born in Southern Tanzania on the border of Mozambique in a remote village called Ngapa. He
was a self-taught artist and did not start to paint until he was thirty six. His inspiration came from anything and everything
he saw around him: birds, animals, landscapes and village life. We hope you enjoyed creating an African Animal piece of art.
Task: This week we would like you to create your own piece of Tinga Tinga style art, using something from your house/
garden as a focus, just like Tingatinga did! Remember you need a:
1. Bold, colourful background (it doesn’t have to be painted) 2. A main focus
3 Colourful details Don’t forget to share on twitter!!
Geography task
Can I use aerial photographs to recognise landmarks and basic human and physical features?
Study the photographs of Arusha and the Serengeti National Park attached. What human and physical features can you see?
Use your word mats from last week to help you. Then after looking out of your upstairs window, devise a simple map of your
local area or garden and add basic symbols in a key.
Science task
Year 1: Plants: Plants: Can you identify trees from their leaves? Can you go on a tree hunt? Below is a tree hunt worksheet
for you to tick off what trees you see.
Year 2: Plants – Understand that plants need water, light and a suitable temperature in order to grow well. This week you
will be growing your own plant - don’t worry, you can get seeds/bulbs at home from a range of fruits and vegetables – follow
