11th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME – JUNE 13, 2021

THE GOSPEL OF MARK

“LORD, IT IS GOOD TO GIVE THANKS TO YOU.” - PSALM 92

Today, in the Sunday readings, the Church returns to the season of Ordinary Time. This represents the longest

season on the liturgical calendar and continues until the First Sunday of Advent on November 28, 2021. The term

“Ordinary Time” refers to the reality that during this season we are invited to “order” our lives by hearing the preaching,

teaching, miracles, and parables of Jesus. The events of the public ministry of Jesus allows each of us to more fully

understand the call we have received to serve as faithful witnesses of the Good News and disciples of the Lord. This year,

we will hear from the Gospel of Mark in our Sunday readings. The Gospel of Mark is the shortest of the four gospels and

shows the vitality of Jesus as Savior. The miracles and parables of Jesus, found in the Gospel of Mark, remind each of us

of the dynamic love of God transforming our world of sin and sadness into a home for pardon, peace, and joy. May our

faith always be filled with the enthusiasm and joy found in the Gospel of Mark of truly knowing Jesus as our loving

Savior.

May God – Father, Son, Holy Spirit – abundantly bless your families in these upcoming weeks.

In Christ,

Fr. Ted Prentice, Pastor

WE COME FROM ALL NATIONS

From Nigeria to New

Guinea. From Maui to

Honduras, Lebanon to

Poland, Lithuania to France:

our parishioners hail from

every inhabited continent

on our planet. We came

wearing part, or all of our

cultural garb, smiling and

united by our different

backgrounds, united by our

belief in Jesus Christ. What

began as a small group of

Jewish believers in Israel

over 2000 years ago, has

grown to become a faith for

the whole world. “...and

you will be witnesses to the

ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

Hannah from the South Asia region receives

Communion from Fr. Ted.
