Project Type Location Steel Tonnage Works Carried Out robinsons.com Robinson are pleased to have been associated with the supply and installation of the steelwork and precast package for the new Interdisciplinary STEM Teaching and Engagement Centre (ISTEC) which contains state-of-the-art laboratories for teaching undergraduates and postgraduate students. It will also support the University’s schools, colleges and community outreach activities, while providing important facilities for industry and a platform for wider collaboration. The site programme was completed ahead of schedule and handed over in a phased manner to suit the following trades. Robinson were invited to the “Topping-out Ceremony” by the University project team on Monday 14th November 2016. The “Topping-out Ceremony” is believed to go back a thousand years to the Scandinavian people, who traditionally raised a flag, a fir tree or both when the timber frame (or in this case steel) of a building reached its maximum height, the custom of the fir tree symbolizing bringing life to the building. Robinson are pleased to have been associated with the supply and installation of
