Mizu was founded in 2008 by Jussi Oksanen & Brad Kremer.
Frustrated and embarrassed by the money spent and waste
created by simply hydrating themselves, the two decided to
find a solution to their problem.
Although reusable water containers aren’t new, Jussi and Brad
felt that the current bottle offering hadn’t evolved beyond a
camping, hiking and yoga demographic—and they certainly
weren’t speaking to action sports.
Like all concepts and start-ups, there’s much more to the story,
but on a “down-day” in Alaska a leap was made and Mizu
created. A company designed to fit the design and lifestyle of
action sports—one with the ideals of bringing a new way of
thinking to the youth through its products and authentic mes-

MIZU MATERIALS AND QUALITY
There are many materials that can be used to make a water bottle, but it doesn’t mean that they are all good. When the research was said and done, stainless steel came out as the only real option for creating a safe and durable bottle. Stainless steel is the same material used to brew beer or that your kitchen knives are made out of. It’s not aluminum, which needs an epoxy lining to protect liquids, not plastic which is full of chemicals, and not glass which is a good material, but breaks.

In addition to the core of our bottles being inert stainless steel we also make sure that each and every part of the bottle is made from a material that wont leach any chemicals, such as BPA, into your drinks. Brooklyn-based graffiti artist STASH spent his youth enhancing
60ft by 20ft subway cars with his art. He’s seen the world of
graffiti rise from monotone name tags into a massive vibrant
display of one-up-man-ship that surrounded the city, to end
up as designs for products and displays in galleries around
the world. When it comes down to authenticity, you can’t get
more authentic than STASH. When approached about doing
a custom bottle for Mizu he didn’t just say “I’ll think about it”,
he said “Fuck Yeah!”. And now you can enjoy your very own
piece of STASH’s art every time you get thirsty.

There is a saying that goes “you can take the Finn out of Finland,
but you can’t take Finland out of the Finn”, or something like
that. Either way, for Arto’s first Mizu graphic, he chose to pay
homage to one of his favorite Finnish beers by basing the
graphic on its logo. Remember, just because its called a water
bottle, doesn’t mean it always needs to hold water!

Alex Gray is quite possibly the happiest person on the face
of the planet. I’m assuming that he has the occasional off
day like the rest of us, but I have yet to see or hear about it.
When posed with the realities of destruction that we place
on our planet Alex doesn’t get bummed, instead he takes
the challenge head on and does whatever he can to make a
difference. That is just one of the many reasons why we chose
Alex as an advocate for MIZU.
For his first MIZU bottle, Alex instantly knew that he
wanted something with a RASTA inspired look to it. We drew
it up, he loved it, and now you can buy it. Now do as Alex
does and go have the most fun surfing that you possibly can.
