Fighting for FrogsPopulations of amphibians such as frogs, toads and salamanders are declining around the world. Join
Mystic Aquarium and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) to help solve this mystery. Together we
will explore our local wetlands as we listen and look for frogs, establishing important baseline data that
will contribute to a global conservation effort.
Talking TrashMarine debris such as plasticbags, bottles and abandoned fishing gear is a big threat to our oceans, but
you can make a difference by joining Mystic Aquarium and the Ocean Conservancy in our biannual coastal
cleanup days at local state parks. Not only are we cleaning up our local beaches, but we are collecting
important data as part of an international effort. Each year, nearly 650,000 volunteers in 92 countries
pick up more than 12 mi Ilion pounds of trash. you can help us grow that number'
Helping Horseshoe CrabsThreatened by coastal development and bait harvesting, horseshoe crab populations have been
decreasing over many decades. These prehistoric wonders have roamed the ocean for 300 million years.
They serve a critical role in the marine ecosystem, and scientists continue to make fascinating discoveries
about them. Join Mystic Aquarium and Project Limulus during the spring and summer breeding season to
tag individual animals and collect data on crab gender, size and condition.
